When does our financial penalty / restrictions / enforced business plan end?

I probably should know this, but are the restrictions for this year only and will end at the start of next season?

Re: Back from whatever that was.

I'm not accepting that this game is over. Many of the goals were illegal and were counted after the time allowed for them to be scored. In fact Reading won, yes they did. A beautiful beautiful win.

Re: Pedro Mendes

Where do you consider the holes in our squad are? Not a dig at you, I really do want to know. At first glance it's exciting to have a potentially good striker come in, but where are there more priority gaps?

Agree... I can forgive quite a lot, even losing (not today please), if it is obvious that they have given everything they had.

If it's off shouldn't that be a priority for the club to put on the official Reading FC site, but no news on that.

Re: Confimred loan - Ovie Ejaria

I think that this must have been lined up before Gomes arrived and he's had a look and okayed it. Still with the intent regardless of reducing the squad overall. From what he's said Gomes has realised the need to have a tight squad working for each other. So we have a talented youngster, who is stil...

Re: New Manager

It was interesting to hear this morning that Man U are not rushing into a new long term appointment, but had confirmed Solskjaser for rest of season not because he was a great manager (which he isn't) but because he knows and can restore the original Man U values. The feeling that the team is better...

Re: BFTifollow Swansea

I went along expecting the worst and it wasn't as big a thrashing as I feared. I was down quite close to the action (in Swansea end, since I went with a local) and one thing became clear, as soon as a Reading player received the ball Swansea had 1 or often 2 players on him straight away, with no tim...

Re: How Hobnob Team page works - BFTG

Ranting, releasing steam and analysing the reasons for failure are valid, but I think that there is also a psychological benefit in coming online to share your disappointment with fellow Hobnobers. It's said that misery loves company and that's because when you are depressed or upset, having someone...

Re: Reading FC Womens World

Well looking at the goalkeeping by Wales last night against England it was pretty good. The level of passing and skills generally was outstanding so there's a lot going right in Women's football. Shame no final cutting edge. It's a pleasant change also to have Reading mentioned on TV during an Inter...

Re: New Manager Press Conference 12pm today

Clement would be a good result for us at this point.

Although we all of course believe that Reading are a great club worthy of a great manager, I suspect that objectively it's not a wonderful opportunity for a top manager at least at this time.

Re: Stam Gone

Had to happen and I actually had a sigh of relief. Shame that Stam never worked out, because at face value he could have been a great manager, but after a time tactics became clearly dour and anyone could see they weren't working and were tremendously boring to watch. Be interesting to see what styl...

Re: Gourlay

I must admit I'm not any longer sure who is running the club that could have words with Stam, or change the manager. Stam himself is a powerful personality with his friend (Tevreden) as the Director of Football. What is Gourlay's background / alliances and is he the one who makes changes? It looks l...

Re: The fans alternative course of action.

I agree that there has to be something to cheer. Cheering a side or back pass would actually sound sarcastic. There's 2 components here, the players and the fans. One can affect the other. So if the fans were able to find something at all to cheer it would help the players and if the players were ab...

Re: Could Stam be contracted to his current style of play?

I was trying to understand why we don't change when it's clear by the evidence; results, league position and attendance, that it's not working. Given Stam is no idiot and actually comes across as quite intelligent. I can only think that perhaps some of the attributes that made him a great footballer...

Re: Back from the shambles - Brum

I'm sure this had been said many times before, but since I feel strongly about it I'll say it again. Yes a new striker would be wonderful, but no matter how good a striker we have, if we pass the ball around in our own half continuously it won't help. We need to change tactics and get movement forwa...

Not sure that the site's aim is to be found high up on Google rankings, as other commercial sites might desire. In any case there seems to be some disquiet about using AMP ( https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/05/1 ... d_bad_bad/ )

Re: Back from listening to the game v preston on the radio

I went there with a friend who is a Preston fan. Up to the first goal we had the better chances. But we just couldn't finish. There's a lot of talk about Blackett, but rightfully so unfortunately, He completely missed a clearance that allowed the opposition to just run pass him for the first goal an...

Re: Pop up ads

Agree it's too much. There is a balance between needing to generate enough funds to run the site and completely annoying users that you want to attract to the site.

I think it's the ads that take over the whole screen that are wrong. Static banners etc. are acceptable.
