Re: Summer Ins and Outs

Think it is sending strong signals that the younger fringe players don't see a decent route through to the first team under Stam. Lot of strength ahead of them. Or expect new signings (like last summers) to pose a bigger challenge. We bought players from Manure, Liverpool, Leicester, Chelsea academ...

Re: The 2017/18 season preview/expectation and build up thread

Let's see how the transfer window goes. Willams looks a goner. So the squad needs a couple of experienced midfield additions. Also need more firepower.

Re: Do you have another team?

My father took me to Tottenham when I was 6. Was a standing season season ticket holder until my early 20's. Have a soft spot though not attached in the same way as I was. Firmly a Reading supporter now. Though do wander across the road to watch Swindon's games. As always interesting to watch as a n...

The only player with an inclination to do so last season was Mendes. Noticeable what a difference it made to have a player doing so..

Re: BFTG - Wembley

Having him there should have meant the wing-backs could safely bomb forward but they didn't. From our vantage point Hudders tactics were so obvious. When in possession they moved to 3 upfront. One central. The other two hugging the touchlines in line with the back 3. In effect Blackett and Gunter w...

Re: Good luck Huddersfield and Who actually cares that we're not going up?

Either team today would have been automatic favourites for relegation next season. Neither are good enough to stay up. Prefer to be promoted when we are ready. As need to stay up. As Norwich and Villa have proved. Money alone does not buy success. .

Re: The positive - "make me feel better" thread

There's the foundations of a solid defensive unit next season. Ilori certainly looked the part on the whole. Given the few games he has played this season. When you consider the age of a far number of the team. They gained an awful lot of experience today.

Re: Can we all agree...?

I blame Sky Bet as that is all this fixture is about. Advertising their wares. After 30 years of turgid play off football. Today's game should be enough to abandon the concept. With a £170 million at stake. No team now wants to lose. For the paying customer that makes for a non spectacle, In fact a ...

Re: BFTG - Wembley

This season exceeded all expectations. Thanks Jaap. Good foundations in place for next. The summer transfer is going to be extremely important. As whoever comes on board has to have pace. Totally lacking today until Gareth came on.

Only 24 days until next seasons fixture list is published!

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

Its weird reading that.. Most users on here have at least some degree of realism. These Fulham fans seem deluded as a minimum. With our dismal performance last time didn't realise that we've improved somewhat. Defensively we are pretty sound defensively if need be. It's the speed of the attack that...

Re: BFTG Fulham

Surreal sitting with the home supporters. Half time it's 1-1. Sure Stam would have settled for a draw at the outset. Team was obviously set up to contain Fulham. Whose threat is limited to playing the wings with pace. Whole team gets a 10 for sticking to the game plan. Over the season they've got be...

Re: Dreaded Third Place

Finishing third isn't a problem, it's competing with thetop twofor automatic and failing that's the issue. We may have finished 3rd, but we were never really in the fight for second and didn't expect 6th even. Only finished 8 points behind Brighton. The gulf isn't that great. Consider also the inju...

A real football ground. Filled with real supporters. Friendly stewards too.

Finally the clinical finishing we've been waiting for.

Looked like a trial match for the playoffs in terms of formation. That won;t be the starting 11 next Saturday.

Re: BFTG - Wigan

I think it's simply just a case that there are too many fans still living in 106-land and just haven't watched many other live football matches so the style of play and not lumping into the oppositions half it is just not on their wavelength when it comes to watching football at the mad Stad. Nah. ...

Re: Who do you want in the playoffs?

Doesn't matter who we play. Need the home leg second. This isn't like playing a normal league game. More like Europe. I'd expect Stam to field a defensive team. To play for a draw or narrow defeat in the away game. Then go full bore at home.
