Re: Royals on the Box/Internet Thread

The Quest highlights aren't much different to when they were on Channel 5 (apart from the new studio - the C5 one used the old Soccer Am studio). Different pundits it seems so far too, Dean Ashton and Ian Holloway in the first 2 weeks. Oh, and they've got rid of the separate programmes for the Champ...

Also read today that they've ditched the ABBA format they used in penalty shoot-outs last season.

Re: Royals on the Box/Internet Thread

Thanks for the sky mention, had completely forgotten about that, though there may be times when im not able to watch live (or at least a good chunk of the first half anyway) and you can't record the red button coverage can you?

Re: Dave Edwards To Gillingham

Shame would have been a great move for all parties involved. Well maybe not Edwards, or Gillingham tbf. Ok it would have been good for us. Maybe he'll still go out on loan with a view to buy option? Bit harsh on the gills, I’m going to see them once or twice this season so I don’t want to see that ...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Thanks for the write up SCIAG. Be interesting to see whether Barrett gets a loan move in the next few weeks, especially if there were any scouts there today. Suspect he's going to need to get fitter first though.

Latest score???

No change according to Flashscore (which is very good for U23 games when the club's twitter aren't providing updates). Doesn't look like we've made any subs either.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Noticed the other day that the u21s aren't in the Checkatrade Trophy this season. I wonder if that is the club's decision or are we deemed not to have a strong enough academy now? Ie the stronger teams maybe now want to play? Also, very unusual to find the U23s playing on a Saturday at the Mad Stad ...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

I remember sometime after he starred in that FA Youth Cup run reading an old post from the start of that season, made I presume by SCIAG, saying he was considered to be a right back. So maybe he only emerged as a right winger that season because we were short in that position and right back is his b...

Re: Strikers.

I brought this up in the academy thread but football manager (not the bible I know) changed Loader from a ST to a LW in their January update. Anyone got any idea what that is about? Presume someone who's been scouting the U23s? I noticed at the end of the season he didn't seem to be playing up fron...

Re: Leaving Games Early...?

Done it 2 or 3 times I think, only ever at home. The main that stands out the most was West Ham in 07/08 when we lost 3-0 after we missed a penalty. Knew the game was over and actually said West Ham would probably score again. Didn't get away quick enough as heard the West Ham fans celebrating the 3...

Re: Stam Gone

Those of you who think the negativity was solely on Twitter or this spackerboard are living in cuckoo land. There has been very little support for the club, especially at home, when the going got tough. I attended my first (and probably last) Star AGM in September where we had the pleasure of Jaap ...

Re: Stam Gone

Talksport mentioned the bloke Potter who manages some team called Ostriches in Scandanavia.....You know the one that beat Arse.... His odds have come in......Not sure what I think about that. Interesting...read an interview with him around the time of that Arsenal tie and then thought some ...

Re: Stam Gone

BMc in Knew this would get mentioned. Would he be interested after his last sacking though? Deserves better than to have a possible relegation on his C.V so it's a no from me, even though I never wanted him to go either time he was sacked. Definitely not celebrating at this news, we've still got to...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Will be interesting to see if the club appeal, given the precedent with Southend, and what the difference with both situations is, though the QFs have to be played before 3rd March so it wouldn't give much time for any game to be arranged if the decision is overturned. We may well have lost to Arsen...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

The Dutch had 2 entrants into this season's Champions League. We had 5 (though it's usually 4 of course). So going by that I was thinking that the Dutch 2nd tier was maybe L2 standard? Most of our loanees tend to go to that level so it does fit. Even if i'm being harsh on the standard i'd be very su...

Re: Pub help required

On a different note, going to be in Wembley for the Wolves game in a few weeks. Which would be the best pub to watch it? I've been to the Torch and the Green Man numerous times (though mainly the Torch) but not sure whether either have multiple screens. Would it be best to stick to one of these or i...

Just seen this over on Non-league Matters, posted a few days ago.

"Colchester United v Reading result now showing as subject to an F.A. investigation due to an ineligible Reading player -
Imari Samuels, who started the match not having played in earlier rounds. "

Is the clip of last pants day anywhere? I remember Kieth Scott coming over and picking up a pair. It also featured on They think it's all over . Yea, was going to mention that. Re: FA Youth Cup U18 - Colchester United vs. Reading FC

I do wonder if there is an overcoaching of the first 11. Whoever I’ve seen the youth teams they play the style far more effectively than the first 11. Report says one of the lads who played was 15 (Samuel) Maybe a name to keep an eye on. Interesting you say that, read an article on Chelski's curren...
