Re: Strikers.

I brought this up in the academy thread but football manager (not the bible I know) changed Loader from a ST to a LW in their January update. Anyone got any idea what that is about? Presume someone who's been scouting the U23s? I noticed at the end of the season he didn't seem to be playing up fron...

Re: Leaving Games Early...?

Done it 2 or 3 times I think, only ever at home. The main that stands out the most was West Ham in 07/08 when we lost 3-0 after we missed a penalty. Knew the game was over and actually said West Ham would probably score again. Didn't get away quick enough as heard the West Ham fans celebrating the 3...

Re: Stam Gone

Those of you who think the negativity was solely on Twitter or this spackerboard are living in cuckoo land. There has been very little support for the club, especially at home, when the going got tough. I attended my first (and probably last) Star AGM in September where we had the pleasure of Jaap ...

Re: Stam Gone

Talksport mentioned the bloke Potter who manages some team called Ostriches in Scandanavia.....You know the one that beat Arse.... His odds have come in......Not sure what I think about that. Interesting...read an interview with him around the time of that Arsenal tie and then thought some ...

Re: Stam Gone

BMc in Knew this would get mentioned. Would he be interested after his last sacking though? Deserves better than to have a possible relegation on his C.V so it's a no from me, even though I never wanted him to go either time he was sacked. Definitely not celebrating at this news, we've still got to...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Will be interesting to see if the club appeal, given the precedent with Southend, and what the difference with both situations is, though the QFs have to be played before 3rd March so it wouldn't give much time for any game to be arranged if the decision is overturned. We may well have lost to Arsen...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

The Dutch had 2 entrants into this season's Champions League. We had 5 (though it's usually 4 of course). So going by that I was thinking that the Dutch 2nd tier was maybe L2 standard? Most of our loanees tend to go to that level so it does fit. Even if i'm being harsh on the standard i'd be very su...

Re: Pub help required

On a different note, going to be in Wembley for the Wolves game in a few weeks. Which would be the best pub to watch it? I've been to the Torch and the Green Man numerous times (though mainly the Torch) but not sure whether either have multiple screens. Would it be best to stick to one of these or i...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Just seen this over on Non-league Matters, posted a few days ago.

"Colchester United v Reading result now showing as subject to an F.A. investigation due to an ineligible Reading player -
Imari Samuels, who started the match not having played in earlier rounds. "

Re: Derby is Pants Day 2

Is the clip of last pants day anywhere? I remember Kieth Scott coming over and picking up a pair. It also featured on They think it's all over . Yea, was going to mention that. ISTR that someone who worked on the show was a Reading fan and was also a nobber, with Mad Dog in his username? Does he st...

Re: FA Youth Cup U18 - Colchester United vs. Reading FC

I do wonder if there is an overcoaching of the first 11. Whoever I’ve seen the youth teams they play the style far more effectively than the first 11. Report says one of the lads who played was 15 (Samuel) Maybe a name to keep an eye on. Interesting you say that, read an article on Chelski's curren...

Re: Unfortunately ANOTHER In or Out poll

fairly interesting that a lot of the chat from the new boys has been about what a pull Stam is to the club. I'm kind of turning back a little bit, and I know its only on one win. I think he is a good figurehead and I can understand the club being extremely wary of sacking him. However do think that...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

its an interesting policy this. I can't remember such long contracts being given out to players who aren't really in first team contention at this stage Obvs be absolutely delighted if 4 or 5 of these lads come through and play regularly. But on first thoughts, they do seem a little excessively lon...

Re: Unfortunately ANOTHER In or Out poll

I was firmly IN a couple of months ago, undecided when the last poll was started a few weeks ago and now i'm on the brink of getting off the fence. This week is absolutely massive, our home record on a Saturday has been discussed a lot but have we won a midweek away game yet? What worries me about t...

Said on another Popa thread that I've been expecting him to go, so this is no surprise. Suspect he won't play for us again.

Re: Who could replace Stam?

Isn’t the Norwich manager looking down the barrel? Hughton could go back there? I think all the while we’ve got this lot upstairs we’d end up with someone who wants to play this system, so an unknown from Europe a la Sheff Weds. That’s why I’m not ready to see Stam leave yet. If we can stay up then...

Re: Stat pre match on BBC Berks

This was on the BBC preview for the match (though it was actually 1312 for McShane) and raises an interesting point that I've thought about asking before. Does Dellor do the stats for that as often he mentions most of them I've noticed either before or during the game (not that I've been bothered to...

Re: CONFIMRED - Adrian Popa

I'm expecting him to go this month and I think the only reason he's been playing for the u23s recently is to get match fitness. Can't see him being involved in the match day squad again this season unless there's multiple injuries.

Re: Gourlay out.

At this point, if Wolves break our record, I won't be that fussed. It just won't be the same as our achievement - they would have bought the record, we did it through seasons of squad building and very little spend. I'd be disappointed, especially as I think we could have got even more points. Just...

Re: In or Out? New poll.

Voted undecided as I think we're probably going down anyway but maybe OUT if we lose to Stevenage... Earlier the feeling was to give it to Gilkes until the end of the season and see where we are then. The season is a right off anyway and he is a Reading favourite and someone the fans would rally ro...
