Re: MATCHWATCH : Ipswich Town (h) sponsored by Orlando Sa

McNaulty seems to run around the halfway line like a wee Dervish – constant movement, constantly finding space and demanding the ball. Unlike many of our other boys, he seems more than happy to play a first time ball into space. Pair that with Bodvarsson’s ability to hold a ball up and a rejuvenated...

Re: BFTG - Bristol City

I've just been watching the Arsenal Liverpool game. Brilliant game full of amazing skill, speed and determination. Plenty of mistakes there too; they happen at all levels. So to write off Reading today because they weren't perfect is, forgive me for being so direct, deluded. Great game of football. ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Millwall (h) sponsored by Terry Hurlock

I don’t know. Maybe there will be goals. Maybe Reading will play really well but lose heroically. Maybe they’ll be pants and lose. Unheroically. Maybe a unicorn will land of the pitch. Maybe Dave Edwards is still alive. Who knows? All bets are off. Storm clouds, dark omens, dire predictions; all swi...

Re: BFT - I don’t know what to call it

It’s hard to feel anything other than resignation. Resignation at poor control, misplaced passes, getting caught on the ball, poor corners, dangerous back passes, no movement off the ball, no penetration, just slow, plodding, inept and cowardly play.

That is all.

Re: This season v last season

For me it's a relevant question. We were rubbish and got worse. Has Clement done enough to affect the team and bring about some change. Well, the stats say things are the same, but it looks to me like a longer term transformation is under way. So although we're in the same position as last year I'm ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Brentford (a) sponsored by one pub on each corner

This feels like a game where the performance might be more important than the result. If we get a point and play with energy and determination we should be well satisfied. We’ve fallen a long way, and have only just started to crawl back up. A narrow defeat wouldn’t be the end of the world. But a gu...

Re: Ex players goals

Been a good weekend for ex players scoring. Apart from Sweeney's cracker for Exeter, Simon Cox scored for Southend and James Henry scored for Oxford. Then to top it off, Carrico scored for Sevilla today! In someones brain they're thinking we could have scored 4 more goals if we'd kept those 4 playe...

From Despair To Where? wrote:How did Ezatolahi play?

World class in the warm up and first 15 minutes. After that became a bit hit and miss, he seemed to tire, and the pace of the game caught him out a few times.

Fully up to speed after a few more games and training we could have a very, very good player on our hands.

BFTG - Norwich

I can admit it when I was wrong. I had naively thought a manager with experience of coaching at Bayern and Real and a team full of experienced Championship players would be enough to make a relegation fight almost impossible. You can’t even say they weren’t trying, they clearly were, against an quit...

Re: Loudest ever away fans at Mad Stad?

There is really no competition - it's got to be Millwall. A horrible, aggressive, intimidating wall of noise and hatred. The noise generated by all other fans sounds like a polite invitation to a tea party in comparison.

Re: BFTG - Weds H

Controversially, I don’t think there is much wrong with either the technical ability or the work rate of the players. I think they are just in the habit of losing, have become used to misplaced passes, and are always taking the easy option. This started under Stam, and a change of manager has not ar...

Re: Some Iranian guy who I can’t be bothered to spell the name of

I watched all of Iran's games in the world cup. Aggression seems to be the default position for Iranian footballers. Three years top flight football in Russia is certainly not Mickey Mouse. This could well turn out to be a very good deal. Full marks to the scouting network too; looks like we can lan...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Watford (h) sponsored by a difficulty to enthuse

If that had been Liverpool or Arsenal I would not be too worried. But that was Watford. Reserves. And they totally, wholly and uncompromisingly outclassed us in every department. A club we would have considered to be of a similar standing as ourselves. Meite, Moore and Ilori, whilst not perfect, ca...

Re: BFTG - Bolton

The differing options on Swift don't really surprise me. It depends on which aspects of his game you remember. With the ball at his feet he beat players several times, played some nice passes, took another lovely free kick and got in behind to give us our best second half chance (the cut back to (I ...

Re: BFTG - Bolton

After the opening three minutes when Bolton tore into us, we gradually asserted ourselves; nice quick interplay around the opposition's box, just lacking that final bit of penetration. Then their goal - whoever Clement adjudges to be at fault will be having a very uncomfortable evening and a break f...

Decent draw, established PL team, full of foreign players They will fancy their chances of going all of the way....or won’t give a sh1t and play their foreign reserve other team. tc Well with our record whatever team we play you should win. Not won a round in this for about 10 years and we've playe...

Re: BFTG Birmingham

An OK performance against the second string of one of the weaker Championship teams. For much of the second half Reading were ineffective, retreating into a Stam like shell of sitting deep and playing countless pointless cross field passes. Overall a justified result, but not the wholly convincing w...
