So Utd reportedly close to signing Matic for £40m. Chelsea saw them coming I think.

Re: Royals on the Box/Internet Thread

Reading's game at Loftus road on 5 August will be one of 8 games streamed on iFollow. So great news there if you're not in the UK (and are subscribed). My understanding was that all games would be on iFollow. Have I been lied to...again? The wording of Sutekh's post is a bit confusing. There are 9 ...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

1860 Munich drop into the 3rd tier for the 1st time in 25 years after losing the play-off to Regensburg who seal their 2nd promotion in as many seasons. Game was held up for 15 mins as the 1860 fans started throwing seats on to the pitch to try and get the game called off. 1860 now have to move out...

Ins could start filling up soon. Tevreden posted a pic of him getting on a BA flight somewhere a couple of days ago with just the hashtags #busy #work

Re: More possible FIFA fiddling to ruin the game

How many minutes of football do you currently see? Latest stats I can find quickly is for 2010-11. Time in play varied a lot ranging from 3 games with 44 mins of playing time up to 2 with 66. Most games had around 54-57 mins of actual playing time. http://www.soccermetrics.net/team-performance/effe...

Only if you ignore the Gillingham game.

Re: More possible FIFA fiddling to ruin the game

Passing the ball to yourself at a free-kick is bullshit. Not least because you'll immediately get in a mess with the 10 yard rule for defending. That a dead ball has to be passed to another player is a pretty fundamental part of the game and not one I'd like to see change. Fair enough but I think i...

Re: More possible FIFA fiddling to ruin the game

The 60 minutes cr@p is just that (probably suggested to help make the game more TV and advertising friendly so FIFA can devise ways to sell more of it). The day that happens will be the end of the game as far as I am concerned. Why is it cr@p and how will it be the end of the game? Appreciate it th...

Re: U20 World Cup

Reading's own John Swift comes into the England side for this afternoons game vs Slovakia. It's billed as a must win after the 0-0 draw with Sweden in the opening game. Did OK but looked knackered before he was subbed. Good come from behind win for England. Structure of the tournament is a bit weir...

could be Celtic playing in Linfield on the 11/12th

Linfield suggesting if they qualify (playing a team from San Marino, so should) then game would be on the 11th with a 5pm or 5.30pm kick off.

Re: More possible FIFA fiddling to ruin the game

a penalty kick is either scored or missed/saved and players cannot follow up to score to stop encroachment into the penalty area - in relation to the above - makes sense. ^^^ that is sh*t Would have absolutely screwed reading last season too! I reckon we'd have actually missed out on the playoffs Y...

Re: More possible FIFA fiddling to ruin the game

Most are fine, also don't like the penalty one. Not sure on playing on until the ball is out of play.... the ball can stay live in football for a hell of a long time. Once the wining team knows that time is up they will do all they can to get the ball out of play. If it is a draw then both teams ma...

Re: More possible FIFA fiddling to ruin the game

Actually all seem pretty reasonable to me. Quite like the idea of the halves being 30mins and stopping the clock. Would probably end up having more playing time than we do now. The last five minutes of the game are the most exciting thing in the world and this is partially because you never know wh...

Re: More possible FIFA fiddling to ruin the game

passing to yourself at a free-kick, corner and goal-kick - makes sense, quick restart to a game, could benefit the attacking team a stadium clock which stops and starts along with the referee's watch - no problem here, everyone knows how long to go. allowing the goal-kick to be taken even if the ba...

a penalty kick is either scored or missed/saved and players cannot follow up to score to stop encroachment into the penalty area - in relation to the above - makes sense.
