Re: FA Cup Changes

I agree that the decision is being made because of what UEFA are imposing. However, without replays, more non league teams will get to rounds 3 4 and 5. That adds IMO excitement and intrigue to the competition. Hopefully more championship teams will get to QFs and SFs. There should be more upsets. ...

Re: FA Cup Changes

What do you mean its not what i said? Its written right there? People are anti football expansion at a world cup. FIFA expands world cups because more games = more money. FIFA presidents expand world cups because more federations getting a space at a world cup = more happy federations who vote for ...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Probably anyone any good gets used in the u21s. Same will apply with our opponents. Seems unlikely for, for example, Southampton, who are top 4 Championship. Also, the relatively large number of u21 players who are in our first team squad means more opportunity in the u21s for the better u18s than ...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Elm Park Kid I've been told that there could be some good news this week. We might be finally coming to an end to the saga.

If it is announced as complete before Saturday, then that will be an amazing way to end a trying campaign. Carefree home game, with potentially close to a 20k crowd. Party time.

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

97th minute equaliser for Leverkusen to keep the unbeaten Bundesliga season going They will just not be beaten. 89th minute equaliser at West Ham last week. On 30th March they beat Hoffenheim 2-1, having been a goal behind after 88 minutes. Two weeks earlier they were 2-1 behind at home to Qarabag ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Burton Albion (h)

Disappointing to lose but frankly Burton knew they were close to last chance saloon and to have a team like us roll up, a team who have had an incredibly stressful season but managed to scramble to safety with a game or two to go must have been a real boost. Having said that, if Smith does better wi...

Re: Royals on the Box/Internet Thread

A disaster for any match going fans who face the inconvenience of early kick-off times in order to accommodate live TV and also for the club who will be worse off. I've heard RoyalsTV is a nice revenue generator for them, particularly on a midweek when a number of STH's won't attend home matches bu...

cba to check and unsure what league they are in but im sure somebody can say but in september Market Drayton Town had earned 24 points in just 14 games and were 3rd in the table Fast forward a further 20 league games & they've only achieved a further 3 points and finished bottom   :lo...

Re: FA Cup Changes

As with most things in the world, it would be much easier if people were honest. The PL don't want their team to play less games, they just want them to play different "higher value" ones. As has been said, the FA and PL have just decided this is the way forward without obvious consultatio...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Whilst true, I also very much doubt that any catering company knowing the issues with payment Compass have experienced would enter into and happily announce a partnership with the club without some kind of confirmation that the financial situation at the club is about to markedly improve. That's ho...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I wouldn't read anything into it. Compass/Levy contract ran out end of this season and was always going to change regardless. Whilst true, I also very much doubt that any catering company knowing the issues with payment Compass have experienced would enter into and happily announce a partnership wi...

Re: FA Cup Changes

Having no replays is madness. Lower league/non league side who are lucking enough to make it past round 1 need that income. Completely agree however, this is a knock on of the UEFA land grab, adding 2 extra games to the group stage. So why have they taken replays away for round 2? I kinda get takin...

Re: FA Cup Changes

Also, if scrapping replays, scrap them altogether. What is the point in making say Thatcham potentially have to travel to Marine (or vice versa) on a Weds night when they are part time players with jobs but there is no intention to make, say Doncaster, travel to say Yeovil for a midweek replay?

Re: FA Cup Changes

So whilst they are dressing this up as a "good thing" it is clearly just a result of those clubs playing in Europe saying, we simply can't do replays any more - so scrap them on we may not enter next year. So they've just scrapped them across the board to make it look like that isn't the r...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

They won it that season so qualified to be in it again the next Crikey - wonder if they are the lowest placed side to win a European competition in recent times? Edit: was a remarkable run through the competition. This was in the days of it being a two-legged cup competition, Schalke won the trophy...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I think the moments are just more memorable in the Premier League seasons. Even in the years we went down, we had some of our best moments. Beating Liverpool in 2007, the comeback win at home to Everton in 2012 when they were still good. January 2013 where Le Fondre was player of the month and McDe...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Agree. I want us to compete at the highest level we can. Maybe we’d go into each season knowing we only had a 1 in 300 chance of winning the league, but we’d have a better standard of player and opponent, and even if we finished last we’d still be “above” every Championship team. Seeing us lose 4-0...
