Re: Saturday Night Football

So been mentioned in the press today that the new PL TV deal will see an additional 42 games shown live making it 210 games live of the 380 played each season. As part of the deal a new Saturday night time slot will be added, seeing games kicking off at prime time, probably 19.45. This raises 2 que...

Re: FIFA U17 World Cup

We need a big attitude change in this country. Maybe the success of the under 17 to 21s will help That? They certainly seem a good enough crop. Foden, Brewster et al. But will those two really get the minutes needed? Jesus Gabrial Is only 2 years ahead of those players in years (I think) but miles ...

Re: England - the future....

Daily Mail website (I know) has "revealed" Southgate's plan for the WC and his preferred formation and XI

Hart

Walker (as wing back)
Stones
Dier
Jones
Rose (as wing back)

Lallana
Henderson
Winks

Ali

Kane

So a 3-2-3-1-1 formation of sorts.

Your worst case scenario isn't possible - as can only be maximum of 2 European teams in a group.

Re: Pure Speculation - Tshibola

Question on this - as MK terminated his season long loan, could he play for Villa now or will he have to wait until the Jan window at least? Not that he'll play anyway but interested if anyone knows the rules around that.

Re: World Cup 2018

Shouldn't ranking only be based on competitive games as friendlies are generally used by nations for experimenting and generally the higher rank you are the less interest and desire you have about the things. Certainly explains why England continually play the same old faces in their friendlies tho...

Re: World Cup 2018

, they didn't help themselves by having a poor world cup as well as draws against Luxembourg. if you look at Luxembourg's recent results you'd be surprised, for a mini-country. They won last week (beat Hungary in a friendly), having got a reasonable number of points in their difficult WC qualifying...

Re: World Cup 2018

Italy out, how the hell did them and Spain get drawn in the same group? I heard someone put it down to them sending a scratch side out to a friendly to some very weak side, that they lost, and that had quite a negative impact on their ranking and so they lost their seeding for the qualifiers. Edit:...

Re: England - the future....

So many withdrawals from the England squad now and a really odd decision to call up Keane and now Livermoore when Alli and the rest have dropped out. Southgate has alluded to wanting to try and evolve the style of play, and bringing Winks and Maguire in to help that but hasn't looked at reintegrati...

Re: World Cup 2018

The Swiss were the better side over the 2 legs but to go out to that penalty is a terrible way to go out. ET could have been interesting if Evans' header in the last minute hadn't picked out the defender on the line. Play-offs so far have been a bit of a damp squib across the world. Two 0-0s last ni...

Re: Injury watch 2017-18 season

When you have 7 subs it is criminal not to name a keeper on the bench. Simply ludicrous. Depends. Some outfield players can make for very decent goalkeepers. Trevor Senior was always more than decent whenever he was called upon, so if you have an outfield player with a decent level of talent then y...

Re: Injury watch 2017-18 season

People need to calm down. Jakkola is an able deputy for a few games - we don't need a keeper on the bench. Colin never names a sub keeper so nor should we When you have 7 subs it is criminal not to name a keeper on the bench. Simply ludicrous. Depends. Some outfield players can make for very decent...

Re: The "reward youth" debate

I know the theory behind the U23 league, but would they be better returning to a more traditional reserve/B team type league? That way the U23s would potentially get to play against older/more experienced players? Pros and cons I suppose I'd question how may clubs would have too many experienced pr...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Having seen the highlights i hope neither of our first choice keepers get injured as young Legg had a nightmare. At fault with 5 of the 7. Good to see Josh Barrett doing well again, if handled properly could be a real star for us. Must also agree Popa has had a raw deal. Would put him in front of M...
