Re: Ex Players

And yes, Edinburgh Live - you can quote me on that, as I am sure you asked the other posters if they could be quoted in your article  Posting on here is like a madman shouting on the street. You can't complain when a local newspaper reports on what you've been saying, although you might quest...

Re: Injury & Suspension Watch : 2018/2019

Blackett has been much improved this season, but has still spent plenty of time second choice to an average Academy product. Moore is half the player he used to be and doesnt want to be here. What a message to send with your PotS award. Richards has played seven games at left back. Blackett has spe...

Re: PoTS

Every goalkeeper who gets a decent run should save more than they concede. I think Jonathan Bond might have been an exception to that under Clarke but it's not a high bar. Answering the question - Yiadom, Bodvarsson, Rinomhota for me. But we've had so much squad rotation that it's very difficult to ...

Re: Injury & Suspension Watch : 2018/2019

If anything I think Yiadom is in some ways too good going forward for his own good. He has a knack of getting into really dangerous positions, and it often pays off - but it also means there are a lot of times when it doesn't pay off. Has been noticeable a few times in recent matches that he's sudde...

Re: Berks and Bucks Senior Cup 2018/19

Simon's Church How many keepers have started games for the u23s this season?
Andresson
Boyce Clarke
Desbois
Roberts
Driscoll?
Southwood?
Not just the first Team struggling with overstocked squad.

All of those, plus Legg, Jaakola, and Mannone.

No Ward though!

Wonder if any of them can play up front...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

It was something I worried about a little a year ago, but since he signed his new contract that hasn't really been a threat.

Much bigger issue is why the hell we loaned him out in the first place, but Meite's proven himself to be a useful striker so eh.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Novakovich scores, gets an assist and gets the opposition defender sent off against Emmen. I'm still baffled as to why we loaned him out. They are likely to come in with a bid during the summer I should think, do we cash in or let him go for nothing the following summer? he would surely score loads...

Re: BFTG Stoke

Defending corners - Gomes said at the fans' forum that he thinks you need everyone back in order to have every zone marked, and sending one player forward usually doesn't make them leave extra players back.

Swift is a tall guy and Barrow is better at defending than the air is.

Given that Gomes uses the same style of play that the club has been using since we signed Novakovich, and that G...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stoke City (a) sponsored by Dave Kitson

Stoke have one of the best squads in the league, which goes to show that sometimes a good squad isn't everything. They should be doing better than they are and we shouldn't be misled by their league position. Having said that, if others teams can beat them then so can we.

Re: Ex Players

Meite is much more "proven" than McNulty!

McNulty might be a good player but he didn't fit our system. He couldn't play as a lone striker, unlike Loader, so wasn't a good option at fifth choice. Sending him out on loan so he comes back full of confidence should be a win-win.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stoke City (a) sponsored by Dave Kitson

Miazga in midfield would be a huge experiment that would definitely weaken our back line and would probably weaken our midfield. Has he ever played there before at professional level? Does he know what the role involves? Does he have the mobility and fitness to play there? Think we would be much bet...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

That's a sexy team. Interesting to see how Frost does as the main striker, don't think he's played there for a few years. Also looks like Holsgrove will be playing in a more advanced role which should suit.

Re: 51 Academy players

Also on successes and failure, obviously it depends on your definition but I think you have to count Ben Hamer, Jamie Ashdown, and James Henry as successes. Hamer and Ashdown played in the Premier League, and I think Henry might be our only graduate to score a hat trick for us? Not counting Long. Al...

Re: 51 Academy players

Oh gosh, where to start... How many of the promoted teams in recent seasons have academy players Brighton, Burnley, Watford , Wolves, Huddersfield all have none. Watford's academy has produced the likes of Ashley Young, Britt Assombalonga, and Jadon Sancho. Wolves currently have Morgan Gibbs-White a...

Peter Bankes is up for this one and Reading are still to collect any form of points from the away trips he has handled. These write ups are class to be fair to you Sutekh. I have found myself considering the refs a lot more lately - there must be a tiny bit of reasoning as to why we haven't won awa...

Re: BFTG Leeds Home

We were alright we just weren't brave or physical enough, in the sense that their players were much stronger. There were times when Barrow and Loader could have drawn fouls and cards from Leeds players. The midfield battle clearly lacked steel but we can put this down partly to injuries. I'd get ou...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Leeds United (h) sponsored by Brian McDermott

Don't think Martinez is remotely Premiership quality. He's better than Jaakola and Walker, yes, but they're League One goalkeepers. Martinez costs us goals regularly and isn't on the level of keepers like Federici or Al Habsi who hardly established themselves as PL goalkeepers, let alone Shaka, Mar...
