Re: MATCHWATCH : Rotherham United (a) sponsored by Dick Habbin

I thought we fought and scrapped today, Gunny. About half the team is out, and an 18 year old made his debut at CB in a tough environment against some very physical giants. (I don't usually ride Gunts, and I was a tad harsh, because he otherwise did ok. Tbf, the corner delivery that came in to Ajay...

Re: New Manager

Last night I had dream Ainsworth became our manager. I also dreamt that I was stuck in the same hotel as my ex so might be a bad omen. Once had a dream that Madejski sacked Coppell when we were 3-0 down at half-time, instantly appointed Chris Coleman, and we won 4-3. Once had a dream that Anton had...

Re: Injury & Suspension Watch : 2018/2019

Would enable us to play with wing backs. One of the few left footed players in the squad. Harriott's good at doing his share of defensive work and I thought he'd make a useful wing-back, but he didn't seem up to it when we tried him in the role. Yiadom, Gunter, Richards, and Obita (if he ever comes...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Rotherham United (a) sponsored by Dick Habbin

When was the last time we played two left-footed centre backs? Possibly Blackett and Joey?

Expect McIntyre will be on the right of the two as he's played there with Zak Jules. Big day for him.

Re: Injury & Suspension Watch : 2018/2019

Harriott's a perfectly useful player, but shouldn't be ahead of McCleary or Barrow and it's not clear to me that he's a better option than Baldock, Loader, or Sims. No strong feeling either way - we wouldn't miss him if he went, but he could probably also do a good job if we threw him in.

Hearing that Marshall is going to bring more academy players into the squad and indeed the XI.

Re: New Manager

Apparently all the players hated Clement, from what I’ve heard, That said they hardly showered themselves in glory once he’d gone. Have heard similar. Apparently Clement liked to play them clips of matches he'd won at other clubs and some of the senior players found this rather arrogant. Should say...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

On Holmes, yes he's currently injured but his selection against Bolton was very much down to him being Stam's flavour-of-the-week. He kept changing who his favourite young centre back was and it just so happened that the week he decided to drop Ilori, it was Holmes. A few weeks earlier he'd wanted t...

Re: Loader to Bundesliga

Not that it matters one iota, but I am playing Football Manager as Bayer Leverkusen and coincidentally, I signed Loader (before this story came out). He hasn't joined yet as I signed him outside of the transfer window. I signed Hazard and Lukaku for Chelsea in FM11. Hazard picked up a long-term inj...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

U18 striker Conor Lawless has travelled with the team to Wigan. https://twitter.com/TalkReading/status/1066055957556400128 Edit: "Attacker" rather than striker - so he might be attacking midfielder. Interesting. Does he live up to his name? So tomorrow we’ll probably find that Meite and B...

Re: Loader to Bundesliga

Now if we had someone of Loader's outstanding quality in midfield or defence of the Academy, there'd be serious questions about why they haven't had a chance. Should definitely feature before the end of the season at some point though... FA Cup maybe. In defence we have Tom McIntyre and in goal we ...

Re: BFTG - Ipshit H

Stam did a decent job first season, with decent signings and massively benefited from McDermott's signing of Kermorgant. He took over a side that had been plagued by useless loanees who didn't give a toss and built something around the solid core. But his side was always incredibly fragile and vuln...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

I think the real irony is that if McCarthy hadn't gone to QPR, and instead had taken the offer from Liverpool that he turned down because he didn't think he'd get chances, then he would have considerably more caps and possibly a Champions League winner's medal. Rob Green hit great form at QPR, but M...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Would much rather Nolan had started than Harriot, who was very wasteful. Not quite sure why you are being harsh on Harriot- i was pleased he got 90 mins under his belt and thought he looked fit and over his injury. He wasn`t afraid to get stuck in and in my opinion should be considered for the 1st t...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Conor Lawless is very good value - bit of a show pony but quality on the ball and very quick over the ground for a central midfielder. Couple of really neat touches that got him out of tight spaces. Think he's only 16? So if he learns a bit of sense then we have a very neat player on our hands.

About a month ago I was leaning towards "out, but it probably won't make a difference". But after the last few matches I really don't see why you'd get rid.

Re: BFTG - Ipshit H

Think the big issue yesterday was the lack of midfield structure. In the last game, it was very clearly defined in an Italian style, with Kelly as the playmaker and Bacuna and Rinomhota ahead of him doing the screening and legwork. Yesterday that broke down, which left us more vulnerable and less ab...
