Re: Which of the loanees would you prioritise?

3 of Baldock, Bodvarsson, McNulty and even (sadly) Novakovic will probably be sold - this will allow for the signing of Oliveira and say, Ezatolahi. Don't really understand the logic of selling three strikers in order to buy one striker. If we sold, say, Bod, Baldock, and McNulty, then we'd be down...

Re: The Danny Loader conundrum

He's improved immensely this season but agree that he doesn't quite look ready to be playing regularly. Unsure whether a good pre-season would help - he's had good pre-seasons before (remember a few years ago when he scored four or five goals in a first team friendly and immediately became everyone'...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

Wouldn't renew the contracts of any of the out of contract players who are around the first team. Harriott is useful but not essential, and seems to be well down the pecking order. Jaakola is... fine , but we're not short of fine goalkeepers. The rest are pretty hopeless. Olise is not a central midf...

Which of the loanees would you prioritise?

We've got six great loanees who have really strengthened the squad. Given that we're also going to let a lot of players go this summer, which of the loanees would you prioritise getting back? In order, for me: 1) Lewis Baker - I think he's probably too good for this level. Similar passing range to G...

Re: BFTG - Brentford

Bod is scoring a goal every three games this season. That's roughly the level of our other senior strikers at their best. If we're planning on signing Oliveira for £7m (31 goals in 100 games at this level) then we should be looking to get £5m for Bod (16 goals in 55 games for us - translates to 29 ...

Re: Swift to Leeds

Swift has been one of our better players since Clement left but he misses so many games due to injury.

I think he's a considerably better option than any of our other attacking midfielders but I wouldn't say no to £7m - particularly if it allowed us to sign Baker or Ezatolahi.

Joined at 16 I think. Think it’s fair to count him And after tonight I’m sure they will be :D Signed in April, only a few weeks before his 17th birthday. We signed Long at the start of June at the equivalent age. Obviously it's not cut and dried, but for me personally I think there's something diff...

That has to go down as two points dropped.

Re: 51 Academy players

Technically no - we signed him from non-league when he was too old to play for the academy.

I don't think we should really count people like Long and Rinomhota either but the club do.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

House's loan looks to have done him good. The back six did really well last night. McIntyre, Osho, and Holmes were a real wall. Aside from a couple of times when Neeskens Kabano turned Holmes around a bit, they didn't let Fulham have any real chances, and they also looked assured on the ball. Jaakol...

Re: 51 Academy players

Rob Dickie also leap-frogged other centre half contenders that pre-season but he decided he wanted to play first team football rather than be a 4th choice centre half/ 3rd choice right back. Not quite what happened. Dickie was actually one of the players who lost out under Stam, who had this weird ...

Re: 51 Academy players

Stacey was a right winger whilst here and would have seen himself as such, we had options there at that time - now you could argue it was a weakness of the management structure not to see his potential further back but the question is was he good enough at that time to play regularly in the Champio...

Re: Reading appoint Mark Bowen on short term contract as technical consultant

His move into coaching began as his playing days drew to a close at Reading, initially working as a coach with the Welsh national team. He went on to coach at Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Fulham, QPR, Stoke and most recently Southampton until late last year. Presumably he is big mates with Ma...

Re: The 2005/06 Squad one word game

Don't think most people have quite grasped the aim of the game (would maybe have been helpful if OMA had given some examples).

Some from me:

Hahnemann - commanding
Ivar - cool
Harper - reliable
Sidwell - heroic
Lita - wildcard
Hunt, Oster, Long - impact

The only difference is I voted for Alfie in 13/14 Jamie Mackie in 14/15 Nick Blackman in 15/16 Great guesses though. Yeah that's the hardest period, no outstanding players in those seasons (which is probably ultimately why we had disappointing finishes!). Honestly couldn't tell you who I voted for ...

Meite Yiadom Martinez Haven't got one of these right since Gylfi won it and I'm still bitter over Ian Harte not winning it in 11/12 and Yann Kermorgant not winning it in 16/17. Based on those clues I'm going to guess that you voted for: 2010-11: Leigertwood 2011-12: Harte 2012-13: McCarthy 2013-14:...

Re: Injury & Suspension Watch : 2018/2019

Blackett has been much improved this season, but has still spent plenty of time second choice to an average Academy product. Moore is half the player he used to be and doesnt want to be here. What a message to send with your PotS award. Richards has played seven games at left back. Blackett has spe...
