Re: MATCHWATCH : Derby County (a) sponsored by Yakubu

Takes Baker off to bring on Aluko. Is it rocket science to take Baker off and put Rinomhota in midfield with one of Richards or Blackett at LB? Yiadom is both our best left back, and much better on the left than the right. If you want to push Rinomhota forward then put Gunter at right back. If you ...

Re: Six Eight and Ten

I think you're basically right about popular the "six", "eight", and "ten" structure is. I think Mourinho is responsible for its current popularity - Makelele is basically the archetypal "six", Lampard is the archetypical "eight", and, erm... Gudjohn...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

In fairness to Forest the ref was absolutely terrible, total homer. Don't think they can complain about the red cards or even the yellows but he gave every close call our way and generally handled things poorly - shouldn't have let that brawl get so out of hand for example. We got lucky. If he'd bee...

Re: 26th January 2010 - Close comparison to current season

Thorvaldsson oxf*rd me that's a name I don't recognise, even seeing his name I don't even remember his existence from that season. I'm fairly certain he never existed. I can't even vaguely remember him. Wasn't he Ingimarsson's cousin? I cannot remember him playing at all, but I vaguely remember tal...

Re: CONFIMRED José Gomes

I know I'm getting a bit carried away and I'm having to consciously combat that. It feels like, for the past 15 months or so, under four different managers, every victory has been so emphatic that it feels like we've turned a corner, and half the draws have been really promising. Then we'll go on a ...

Re: BFTG Forest Home

Very pleased with that display. We're still playing passing football, but we've added the movement necessary to make it work. Rinomhota and Swift were excellent. The new players were promising without doing anything much of substance. Barrow is too one-footed to play on the right - stick him on the ...

Re: Rumour - Ruben Semedo

The comparisons to Bikey are silly. Bikey was aggressive, foul tempered, prone to attacking support staff, carried a gun for self-defence, ruined his pre-season trial by headbutting a Swedish pub player, and only got away with it because he was so damn good. This guy is clearly much less reliable.

My enjoyment of HNA has increased significantly since I added three egregiously mean-spirited users to the ignore list. I'd recommend using it.

Re: RUMOUR - Lewis baker

These days they are incredibly few true wingers left anywhere. You certainly struggle to find ones who can beat a man with skill rather than just pace, and very few can put in a decent cross while running. The days of a genuine wide man like Glen Little, able to turn the fullback to get half a yard...

Re: Confirmed Lewis Baker on Loan

Just don’t understand this kind of post. One of many. Has it not occurred to anyone that the current midfield dynamos are just not very good and need a kick up the backside. Replaced with new energy, better schooling etc? Just a thought. Consensus seems to be that Rinomhota and Swift are our two be...

Re: Confirmed Lewis Baker on Loan

Sorry, don't agree Swift's even close to a best performer. What's he delivered? A series of reliable solid performances, unlike almost everyone else in our squad. Hasn't been at his sparkling best, hasn't created many chances, but he's been playing in quite a deep role and has been one of our best ...

Re: Confirmed Lewis Baker on Loan

Last couple of loans have gone badly for him. Maybe this one will go better. Very talented player, just needs the right manager to get the most out of him. Saying that, the squad building this month makes little sense. I see how we could fit in one of the two loanees, but they seem to be very simil...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

On Rinomhota vs East vs Holsgrove Would say Rinomhota is the least "gifted" of the three but is really suited to men's football. East isn't a match winner, could maybe be compared to Luka Modric stylistically. More about dominating the match than setting up or scoring goals. Doesn't have K...

Re: BFTG United (A)

1) Penalty: I don't fully get to be honest... if we foul whilst they are fouling does it count? Like, for the pass just before Lukaku was in an offside position and the pass itself was offside as the foul came in... my head is hurting. But yeah they deserved the pen and the goal anyway. What matter...

Re: BFTG United (A)

Even a ‘makeshift’ Man U team should’ve been capable of smashing us, they didn’t. Perhaps Ole isn't the new Messiah then. I doubt a Mourinho team would have put in such a limp performance. With no improvement at half time. Must have been a long time since we've had three naturally left footed playe...

I'm struggling to get to £20m too. Maybe if Loader proves to be an upgrade on £7m Aluko and McIntyre or Osho do better than £4m Ilori then that sort of claim will start to add up.

Re: BFTG - Swansea

doubt very much that weve recouped our academy investments with all the money we have received for academy players weve sold. id imagine its pretty close even if we include money saved by not having to buy players. that would be the first to go if it was my business Academy has been running about 1...

Re: BFTG - Swansea

You know the youth set up better than me so you know that in terms of the step up to senior level development it is rarely linear. There's always peaks and troughs and with younger players that usually is even more self evident. Kelly suffered in the same way. The key point is do they recover when ...
