Re: Building for next season

Just a thought.....HRK and ShLong are dropping into the Championship again.....would any of you take HRK back? Personally I would break the bank of Long....he's exactly what we need.......suspect its just a dream though and he will stay in the PL with another club......As for HRK......no thanks. Di...

Re: Building for next season

Assuming we stay up, here's what I'd do for all our pros and second-year scholars: Mannone - keep, first choice Jaakola - go Bond - go Legg - go Ward - loan (Football League) Southwood - keep, reserve/U23s Driscoll - keep, u23s/u23s bench. Possible loan to non-league in January. Others - don't care ...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Don't want to be horrible about the U23's as overall they've had a decent season, but this side contains a number of players some people have been clamouring to get a run in the senior side. Assumed you meant Loader until I saw the line-up. Were you talking about Smith and maybe Rinomhota? I haven'...

Re: Nicky Hammond Leaves WBA

I think some people have short memories with regard to BT, after last season he was getting a lot of praise for his work at the club but now he's the worst thing in the world. Last year people were saying he was better than Hammond, so I think it's more that people have a tendency to over-react tha...

Beerens was being used less and less because we increasingly weren't playing with wingers. That would have made it harder for Fosu to break through, not easier.

Re: Injury watch 2017-18 season

I think of the youngsters only him, Jules and Legg were offered contracts last summer. Of those who left, think it was Fosu, Stacey, Keown, and Jules. There were also a whole bunch who stayed. Given we had five senior wingers and were increasingly playing without them at all, I think it's fair to l...

Re: Nicky Hammond Leaves WBA

Every time he mentioned Stam's name, he'd say 'that Dutch this' and 'that Dutch that' ... when I called him out on it he seemed to be utterly confused. As he showed on a few PMs that ensued, Strap has more brain cells than many on here, but that doesn't prevent him from being, ahem, old fashioned. ...

Re: BFTG Sunderland

I'd play Rinomhota or Holsgrove or East (? ) over putting Swift and Kelly as the two infront of the defence. God no. East and Holsgrove are smaller than Kelly and not as capable in the tackle. Rinomhota's more physical but hasn't played much. Personally I thought we were playing something closer to...

Re: BFTG Sunderland

Let’s not hide from it, that was abysmal. Rubbish. It was a great game where we were poor for periods, but we were also excellent for periods. There were long spells where Sunderland couldn't get near us. Get real. Edwards and Aluko, I really don’t understand why they get games. We have two fit win...

Re: BFTG Sunderland

..... Bodvarsson 7 worked hard but kept getting asked to run his man at the channel, not his game. Could have won a second pen Blackett 6 a couple of awful touches, but some decent attacking play too Kermorgant 7 worked the defence some nice (and a couple of poor) touches and a good goal Clement 6 ...

Re: BFTG Fulham

A new manager has come in, and the only tangible difference I can see between the two styles is that instead of trying to pass the ball out of defence we are giving it a big hoof instead. We have 2/3 shots on target in four matches and somehow manage to win two of them. How has that happened? I hav...

Re: Whats Clement got to work with ?

I remember people complaining about Halabi, but we won a lot of late points and we didn''t have injury crises as bad as this season. Clark was a step ahead of everyone else but he now seems to be spreading his time between university lecturing and working in India. I think every club has cottoned on...

Re: Next Season's Squad

Scheving plays in Iceland. Richards dislodged him from the u23 team and we released him shortly after. Don't think that's really true, Richards has basically always been ahead of Scheving in the pecking order and we were using McIntyre and Jules at left back before and indeed as Richards made that ...

Adi Viveash. - Ex-Reading - Very successful as Chelsea U18/21/23 manager - Plays our style of football - Good at developing young players including four full England internationals and John Swift - Currently unemployed. Genuine question - what is 'our style of football'? Build from the back, lots o...

Re: Stam Gone

Sacking Stam to put Ulderink in would hopefully give the players a kick, while not losing the best bits of Stam's system or bringing in a new manager who doesn't know the players and how we play. That's the only way I can rationalise it. If we do bring in someone from outside the club then I don't u...

No direct reason to be concerned about our academy as long as we keep putting the money in. ...which might be a problem, right? Did someone say recently in here that Academy Category 1 costs around 4 - 5mil a year? £2.5m a year in theory. Might be higher in practice but £2.5m is the minimum operati...

Re: Next Season's Squad

No direct reason to be concerned about our academy as long as we keep putting the money in. We don't need to be in the Championship to keep Category One - sensible given how recently Southampton were in League One. I'm fairly sure Buchanan and Scheving are both long gone - the sort of player whose d...

Re: Worst Team / Worst Manager ever

At least 9 lost points are due to Stams deliberate fielding of a team without a forward to make a point about the “lack” of transfer funds. :? We didn't have a fit striker, and iirc we won two games in that run? Clement probably had his best game for us against Villa. No guarantee we'd have won the...

He's completely opposed to the philosophy of the club and he's spent over a decade encouraging his players to injure ours and getting himself sent off. I'd stop considering myself a Reading supporter if he became manager. I'd rather we were relegated twice under Stam than doing a Leicester under Wa...
