Re: Roy Bentley's Stationary Club

Thought the book cover looked familiar. Nice work.

Thanks SCIAG.

Long shot I realise but seems like Time has outdone the cunning of old Nick.

I don't want to sound too mercenary but do we get some wedge out of this on account of some sell-on transfer clause the great Nick H stuck into some long ago deal??

Interesting use of the word 'stars' at the start.

Harriott?

McShane?

Meyler?

Re: MATCHWATCH : Brentford (a) sponsored by one pub on each corner

It's hard to see us getting anything from this game, after all, they have won all their home games. That said, we have only lost one away so there's hope. Records get broken. They aren't going to win every game at home, are they? Actually Brentford won all 21 home league games in 1929-30, an all ti...

Re: I think I’m done - just can’t watch this lot anymore

Its not just this season and last season, its years and years. For me its duty not pleasure. 100 mile round trip by public transport last night when i could have done red button. Regrets? More than a few. First 30 mins awful as per usual. Then next 30 mins we gradually built momentum and i thought w...

Re: Royals on the Box/Internet Thread

It says in my online copy of the Observer, which I hate, that the Agony in Orange at Ewood this Wednesday will be available via the Sky Red Button. It's hard to trust a Sunday paper that can’t even show the football results but there is a chance this might be true. Views? If true, does it block the ...

Smith - First Reading player to go on loan to the pox for years??

In the Hammond years I think we must have had an embargo on any direct transfer dealings with them. Then Rob Dickie went straight there this year. All down to that Tiger?

Re: Palace(H) friendly Saturday July 28th

Felt like a game from last season. McShane off the pace for two of the goals and went off injured. Evans doesn't come on (held back for Sunderland??) - we finish feebly with 10 men. Meyler looked possibly more useful than Evans / Edwards. Lot of play went through Kelly who was alright. Rest of 'em, ...

What perspective exactly sees today's game as anything other than a complete disgrace? One that's seen us get relegated before, play much worse than that before, play at lower levels before, and go entire matches without threatening against equally-mediocre opposition. Shit happens. Yeah, because y...

Re: Roy Bentley

Roy tried hard, against the odds of a stick-in-the-mud mentality, as manager for six years and was a good servant to the club and the game. He continued to live in Reading until near the end.

West Brom in the League Cup and Man City away in the FA Cup come to mind as high points.

Ron Gourlay appoints old Chelsea contact with less than sparkling record in hot seat and no sign of anyone else being interviewed. Ah, the ex-Chelsea connection that has served us well in the past with Porterfield, Rogers, Clarke. Still, this one could turn out brilliantly. Keep us up PC and make yo...

Didn't go. Didn't even listen to 2nd half on radio. Can't bear it. Tuned in for a bit of post match wailing from Ady. I agree - no "structure". Stam is no longer inflexible - he's jelly - will try anything - which is what many have been advocating. Not a lot to work with though, which is a...

Re: Gate figure conspiracy-gate?

RG30 s figure for Cardiff looks wrong. In programme it's 16,670 not 11,307. I just took the figure off the official site https://www.readingfc.co.uk/matches/fixtures/first-team/201718/december/reading-vs-cardiff-city-on-09-dec-17/# Interesting! The figure there 11307 would be a credible 'real' gate...

Re: Gate figure conspiracy-gate?

RG30 s figure for Cardiff looks wrong. In programme it's 16,670 not 11,307. Jackson I think under estimates the number of STH. I think it's 12,000-12,500. Before Gategate the lowest crowd was Barnsley - 13,317. Take away 300 Tykes = 13,000 home fans i.e. The STH plus match day buyers, not many I'd h...
