Re: An analysis of promoted teams in the play-off era

Emphasised what a missed opportunity our2008 relegation was.

On his stats and as we thought anyway we should have done much better in 2007-8 and lasted a few more years on the back of that.

Omen-wise this is very bad news.

100% success in yellow, 0% success in hoops at Wembley.

This.

In fact this should be added to the Reading FC badge - maybe in Latin to make it all fancy

Something like "peritorum, qui non favent,"

Hmmm........really struggling to think of what is the most appropriate word that suits Brighton.

Tosspot.

We can have the T-Pot derby next season (subject to Hudders, of course).

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

A little bit of payback for 2008 in my view. Yeah, Fulham were the better team with better footballers and all that ... BUT there's a streak in the English game about making the most of your resources to win a match against the odds. Which Jaap did. Which Nottm Forest did in the European Cup in 1980...

Re: YTF is everyone scared of Fulham FC??

Don't really want to start a new thread on this, but - what's the record for the number of times we've played one team in a season? After the playoffs we would've played Fulham 4 1/2 times. Think we played Bristol Rovers five times. We played Fulham three times in the league cup one year, think the...

Re: YTF is everyone scared of Fulham FC??

I saw the 2-4 there and the 0-5 there. We really struggle against their fast, nippy, forwards. In the abandoned game here I thought they were the better side in the first half and beating them 1-0 in the re-arranged was hard work. They've gained a few more points (3) than we have in the second half ...

Re: Car Park Renewals

Kes irs totally right - the mistakes were made in the design of the stadium accesses. Whoever came up with that abomination had no idea about the dynamics of pedestrian flow and the need to keep peds and vehicles separate where possible, and look to minimise, points of contact. As another illustrat...

And Partick Thistle, with added Niall Keown, have won their last four, in Cup Qfs and top half of table.

Re: Green Park Match Day Parking

Just after the Costco entrance by the bollards, the road was blocked by a barrier, a huge no entry sign and a bloke dressed in yellow. He seemed quite happy for people to drive on the other side of the bollards and barrier which is what I did. One or two vehicles were coming towards us, but once th...

Re: Dear Stattos - Penalties

Just did a manual count We have had ten penalties, five scored, five missed, four scored from rebound 8) Kermy missed / Kermy scored rebound. Kermy missed / GMac scored rebound. GMac missed / GMac scored rebound. What's the other one? 80% success rate of converting missed pens is something else! 50...

Re: Dear Stattos - Penalties

Morley headed in his own penalty against an ex reading keeper (Francis? ) v Huddersfiled I think at the end of the 90s That's the only headed rebound I can remember going back a fair few seasons - so two in just a few games is remarkable. Remind us all - how many missed pens have we scored on the r...

Re: Reality Check?

Using statto.com to see what happened to clubs in 3rd place in the Champ after 22 games, i.e. like us today - over the past ten years. None were promoted automatically. 6 made the play-offs. 2 finished 7th. One finished 13th, one finished 16th. Points gained at this stage - the spread is 38-43, aver...

Re: BFTG Leeds

I went. Our patience and discipline at sticking to a plan for the first 65 mins was amazing. The plan was to hold them to 0-0, frustrate them, then put on our better forwards and nick it. Spoiler alert - we were 0-1 down after 20 mins because someone - Joey I think - let the ball run past him in the...

Re: On the telly

They must have been reading HNA and NSC and decided we have a fierce rivalry, call it the Tinpot derby, just like the forever televised, non-existent, Fake Hoops derby. It's apparently The T-Pot Derby - tinpots (us) vs tosspots (them). Well done, Sky, ruined another day out. Traipsing round the M25...

Re: Anyone For Chinese?

Maybe the PL and FL have different standards over the 'fit and proper' persons test? Very concerned that the club/ stadium is being split from the immediately adjacent land and re-development transport plans. Not a recipe for smooth running, I'd have thought. And if the Thais are holding the land w...

Re: The Lost Years of Reading FC

Cheers Fox If not the Rec, then what part of CP was it? Got given some kind of a flyer a few years ago citing those "steps" as being part of the ground set-up....so it'll be interesting to read otherwise. Couldn't find the page - it's a big book - but it sounds more like they had a pitch ...
