Re: Recreating Elm Park atmosphere

Congratulations by Cliff Richard after every home win. Could take a while before we hear it.

Re: Leaving Games Early...?

Done it ONCE - and missed Fred Sharpe's later winner against Brighton in November 69. Vowed to never, ever do it again.

Re: who do you want as the new manager

Cannot think of a less inspiring and more underwhelming appointment than Paul Clement. I would have liked Graham Potter, but he has just signed a new four-year deal with Ostersunds.

Re: Robin Friday Info reqd

10/2/74, not 10/3/74. Obvs a typo and pedant mode is now switched off. More importantly I was at that match as a 10 year old and stood behind the Tilehurst End. I remember distinctly Robin Friday heading one in directly in front of me. Can't recall his second so clearly but I think it was a shot an...

Re: Robin Friday Info reqd

Not so unusual now, but those games were played during the three-day week period and were all played on Sundays. Admission was by paid-for programme only due to the Sunday Observance laws.

Re: Low away attendances

I've always wondered about how many we took to Oxford in 1976 (?) It was an evening game between Xmas and New Year, lost 0-1 to a late goal, snow. I was on a supporters coach, but I counted very, very few Biscuitmen on the terraces. So it was left to me to chin the Oxford scum. My uncle drove us to...

Re: Low away attendances

Went to that Chester game (played at Macclesfield) on a miserable evening. I would guess that there was less than forty Reading fans present. One of my most depressing nights following the club.

Shocking news. What a player he was for the Baggies. Scored one of my favourite goals as well. What a strike.

Re: The Non - League thread

That's one of the problems with NL football - the clubs in the North East tend to avoid applying for promotion as the travelling far outweighs any benefit of going up. Flackwell Heath also withdrew their application a couple of years back as they were placed in the SL South & West which meant e...

Re: Record Watch 2017/18

At this rate, Man City will be a threat to 106  They look pretty damn unstoppable right now, but surely, SURELY they have to drop at least the 7pts more required. Our record of 60 points by New Year's Day stands. If it is in fact our record. Biscuits of 85/86 >>>>>>>> Citeh of 17/18  Our ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Birmingham City (h) sponsored by 5 games without a win

This has the same gut-feel as the awful 1-2 defeat to Scunthorpe close to the end of Bodgers' reign. I would never overtly call for a Reading boss to be fired, but surely Stam's position is now untenable.

I think it was Mick Gooding (Geordie - there's another one) that gave Dariusz the nickname.

Breathtaking player and my first hero. Remember in particular the 2-2 draw against Walsall early in the 69/70 season, where he gave three or four defenders twisted blood in front of the South Bank. I can also remember where I was when I heard he had been sold to Southampton. Gutted, although we did ...

This thread is absolute gold: https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/south-stand-bowel-movement.1406204/ Apparently a Sunderland supporter absolutely off his face (on probably more than just alcohol) decided to drop his trousers and have a shit. Peter Shilton's point blank save from Mick Ferguson when Forest clinched the title at Coventry in 78. Breathtaking.
