Re: RIP - Cyrille Regis

Shocking news. What a player he was for the Baggies. Scored one of my favourite goals as well. What a strike.

Re: The Non - League thread

That's one of the problems with NL football - the clubs in the North East tend to avoid applying for promotion as the travelling far outweighs any benefit of going up. Flackwell Heath also withdrew their application a couple of years back as they were placed in the SL South & West which meant e...

Re: Record Watch 2017/18

At this rate, Man City will be a threat to 106  They look pretty damn unstoppable right now, but surely, SURELY they have to drop at least the 7pts more required. Our record of 60 points by New Year's Day stands. If it is in fact our record. Biscuits of 85/86 >>>>>>>> Citeh of 17/18  Our ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Birmingham City (h) sponsored by 5 games without a win

This has the same gut-feel as the awful 1-2 defeat to Scunthorpe close to the end of Bodgers' reign. I would never overtly call for a Reading boss to be fired, but surely Stam's position is now untenable.

I think it was Mick Gooding (Geordie - there's another one) that gave Dariusz the nickname.

Re: Tommy Jenkins.

Breathtaking player and my first hero. Remember in particular the 2-2 draw against Walsall early in the 69/70 season, where he gave three or four defenders twisted blood in front of the South Bank. I can also remember where I was when I heard he had been sold to Southampton. Gutted, although we did ...

Re: BFTG Sunderland

This thread is absolute gold: https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/south-stand-bowel-movement.1406204/ Apparently a Sunderland supporter absolutely off his face (on probably more than just alcohol) decided to drop his trousers and have a shit. Right there in the stands. Although there is some deba...

Peter Shilton's point blank save from Mick Ferguson when Forest clinched the title at Coventry in 78. Breathtaking.

Re: Delé

It was good to see young Dele back to decent form today. After yesterday, De Bruyne is now the best player in the world, and Kane's pass to Son and matter-of-fact goal-scoring confirms he is close. Dele Alli is not (yet) in that class, but Real Madrid would still benefit if they spent their £100 mi...

Re: List of postponed matches from over the years

On my way down the M4 on Boxing Day 93 when the game against Bristol Rovers was postponed. On a Smith's coach that arrived at a densely fog-bound Vicarage Road for a FA Cup tie against Watford in 71 that was postponed a few minutes later. Thankfully could not make the rearranged game, which we lost ...

Re: Oxford - Reading

Cannot possibly see how Headington can be deemed as our fiercest local rivals. They are just annoying little arrivistes , even compared to Aldersh*t. Our first league game against them was not until 1965, compared to Aldersh*t in 1932 and Sw*ndon in 1920. For me, and historically, it has to be Sw*nd...

Re: Reading FC 1985/86

The game that sticks in my head most from that run was Chesterfield at home most games were tight scrappy nervy affairs but that night we took them to the cleaners 4-2 flattered them big time. Trev bagged a hat trick after receiving stitches for a head wound and we racked up a massive number of cor...

Yes, pace out wide with Jerry Williams and Andy Rogers (and Gilkesy when he was in the team) serviced by a midfield that was told to hit diagonals and then get balls in the box for Senior, Horrix and Bremner. Senior was deadly in the box; outside the area he was a giraffe on skates, whose first touc...

Like this thread. Was watching HNK Rijeka v Olympiakos Champions League play-off game played at the Stadion Kantrida. 10,000 Croatian nutters make a lot of noise. The most unusual, but most picturesque ground in Europe? https://trailofthelionking.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/1-sea-view.jpg https://up...
