Re: BFTG - Wolves

Stam's comments about Beerens after the game were surprising-what does he see that we don't? The common sense not to undermine his players in public. So, why didn't Stam have the common sense not to say that Illori was taken off the pitch as he was having a poor game? Surely, that would also be und...

Re: BFTG - Wolves

Well, that was interesting. Really should have had a point against a very good Wolves. Swift's effort in the first few minutes, Aluko's rebound could have gone anywhere, and what looked like a blatant penalty for a push on Yann when he got a yard goalside on a good, pacey cross. Both linos were esp...

Re: Which of our players are genuinely premier league quality?

I am with those who say it is the team as a collective (e.g Burnley, Brighton etc) that matters rather than just individual players. Swift IMHO is probably the only one that might be good enough. Mannone had a catastrophic game shipping 8(?) last season in one game looking like a clown but it has re...

Re: Best goal scored at the Mad Stad

Here's an international break boredom killer*. What do you think is the best goal scored at the Madejski, either by us or the opposition? I'm going to go with Garath McCleary vs Burnley. Lukaku got one that was a bit special but agree about McCleary. Also an Aguero goal in front of the North Stand ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Derby County (a) sponsored by first half away goal search

Stam Out! What a genius campaign that was. Still, the boycott of matches and the uplift in form might well be related. At least some felt he deserved a bit more time, loyalty and support. Think back to:- Pants Day Slagging Shane Long off Stam for the sack Perhaps moaning is the new encouragement th...

Re: BFTG - Nottingham Forest

Well that was a welcome surprise. Play wingers as wingers, get crosses in after breaking quickly and we score goals. A number of good performances that have kept Stam in a job. It was a game we just had to win and if the players maintain the same level of commitment we should be o.k. for the rest of...

And less than 1 goal per game on average surely means that our attacking is toothless.

Re: We're crap ..........but only 5 points worse off than we should be at this stage ... more stupid and pointless stat

"ONLY 5 points"?
So that is over 40% better than we have actually achieved-that IMHO makes us rather a long way off where we should be if a play-off spot is to be achieved.
The other factor is that we have a 100% fail rate in play-offs so our aim has to be top 2 surely?

Re: BFTG - Middlesbrough

Just as disappointed as everybody else after waiting for a month to watch a home game. The sad thing is that Gunter (and Smith) for once comes out of the game with credit-why? Because at long last he actually got forward at pace and put in two decent crosses in the first half, something we have been...

Re: Relegation

I really don't see us being even CLOSE to relegation. We have got a fair few of the bottom sides to play in November-December-January Bolton, Barnsley twice, Sunderland, Birmingham and Burton with Burton again at the end of January That is seven winnable games, plus a fair few mid-table opponents l...

Re: Relegation

We're going to be replaced in the Championship by Shrewsbury Town at this rate. Who apparently play exciting attacking football. As for snowball and the like who seem to think we have a strong squad of players, who are they? I give you Moore, Barrow and a fully fit and firing Swift and possibly Kel...

Re: West Haha Ham

It's something that we, Brighton, and many of our opponents have had to go through, even Chelski will have it coming to them. You can knock-down and modernise but you cannot improve.....Wembley being the most pertinent example I have no sympathy for West Ham........Orient had more rights to their c...

Re: Worst ever Reading Player

Maybe those with long memories can help me. A gangling centre back in the early seventies. Thin, curly, but long ginger hair. Adrian something or other. Absolutely no better at football than those standing around me in the town end back then. (pre-segregation). I think this might have been Martin J...

David Lee scored 5 goals in 5 games and he wasn't even a forward.
IIRC he looked a bit like Rodney Trotter.

Re: Weekend Football

Bournemouth's terrible start has gone a bit under the radar with Palace trying their best to beat all records for a dire start to a season. The "I guarantee goals " statement by Jermaine Defoe on signing for the club that is paying him fantastic wages hasn't yet come true and of course he ...

Agreed. PSG vs Bayern, CSKA vs United, good games. Great result for Celtic as well. I thought Chelsea put up a great performance last night and fully deserved the win. IMHO it was one of the best performances away in a Champions' League game by an English side for a very long time. It may have been...

Good result for Spurs but lol@ Spurs fans getting carried away by the performance-they were playing mainly against Dortmund Reserves.
