Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

Yeah, it is weird. Some people obviously enjoy the atmosphere but expect others to do all the work to make it. Against Brentford I was stood next to a middle-aged woman who'd come with (I presume) her 20s son. She was regularly joining in and stood all game. That was great to see as it's not really...

Re: Gomes after 10 League Games

I think we all agreed that loan players were a good way to go to see out this season as considering the uncertainty over our future league status. It will be interesting to see what avenue we go down in the summer.

Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

Holy shit, we're being commended on our atmosphere? No reference to tinpot? Never thought I'd see that. Brentford were also very complimentary. Perception is changing thanks to the South Stand initiative. If we could get a group of 20+ in Y25/26 now who keep the songs coming, others will jo...

Re: Gomes after 10 League Games

We were interested in Miazga years ago before he signed for Chelsea and we were close to signing Baker before he went to Boro last season, so we were already aware of them. Which doesn’t address the hypothetical question of whether they would have been brought in if Clement had been manager. We’ll ...

Re: The League of 4

Just to say I think we will get 4 or 6 points from our last two games But the above, as long as it remains theoretically possible... I actually think this team has a big win in them, obviously less so now without Oli and Meite but still, there are signs. It's actually miraculous what Jose has done,...

Re: Which of the loanees would you prioritise?

The owners personally stepped in to block Moore’s and Meite’s moves so I’d be very surprised if they will be willing to offload the former now to “save on wages”, the only stipulation might have been a slightly lower release clause in the new contract to appease Moore but I doubt it. I’m optimistic ...

Me too. Anyone found a clip? https://streamable.com/xpy15 Cheers Plat. Seems a red yeah. Slow mo makes it look worse. It looked fcuking awful from the stand but admittedly wasn’t the best view. That has confirmed it. Absolutely shocking Ovi is lucky he wasn’t seriously hurt. Fcuk the Bristol city p...

cos they're mugs? More to do with the fact that the buyer and seller is the same person so if they want £7 milli9n to move from one pocket to the other they don’t have to bargain too hard with themselves..... Surely there’s got to be some rules about that though. Otherwise they could just buy him f...

Re: BFTG - Bristol City

Am I really 3 pages in and not a single discussion of our frankly stunning free kick routine? That was a thing of beauty. Yeah good shout. Was funny because coincidentally enough as they set up I genuinely actually thought to myself “it’s a shame we’re just going to put it into the box I don’t know...

Re: Which of the loanees would you prioritise?

I remember you giving out balls to me for capitalising Van Den Berg yet you continually misspell Novakovich. Tut Tut Ian. You know, I was pretty much getting it right all the time and then started doubting myself when I saw someone else at a t and just started copying them. I should have greater fa...

Re: BFTG - Bristol City

I think that comes with the territory with Nelson Everyone knows he is a selfish striker. When and if he scores 20 in a season no one will care. Yeah that’s it, but it just if. Because anything like yesterday and he just looks a bit of a dick. That being said there was only really one occasion wher...

Zip Of course if we win on Monday and Rotherham don’t win we are safe 8)

With the goal difference if Rotherham lose we need a point and we’re basically safe.

Re: BFTG - Bristol City

Well I don't remember Martinez making many saves, certainly not any "decent" saves and a save that a goalkeeper championship shouldn't be making. He's then in no man's land for the goal. A talented goalkeeper yes, but also an overrated one It’s not just the saves though. Those two deadly ...

Re: BFTG - Bristol City

Strange game really, didn't think we played well at all, yet there were never really any moments I was worried that we'd lose. There were some real basics missing out there today, the retaining of possession was poor, we weren't winning second balls until the last 10 minutes, there was a real lack ...

Re: BFTG - Bristol City

How many opportunities did Oli squander?! Struggling to think of many worse substitute appearances. He desperately needs a goal. Anyway, a really good point away at a good team. You can see why they’re successful, the amount of balls they lumped into the box was mental and for the most part we defen...

Re: Which of the loanees would you prioritise?

If we could have equal chance of signing them all.

Martinez
Mizaga
Baker
Oli
Ejaria

Not to take Ejaria for granted, to be honest I don't remember seeing a set of such influential good loanees. It's quite staggering considering our less than illustrious recent history with loanees.

Old Man Andrews
Silver Fox Will he not be distracted in his efforts to rebuild Notre Dame?

An old building being ravaged by an uncontrollable fire is a pretty good metaphor for Reading tbf.
