Re: Back from the game Stevenage

excluding LDV games, I can only find 2 games with a lower attendance than last night. They were both League Cup 1st Round matches when we were a division lower.

Re: The Non - League thread

Swindon Supermarine 0-5 Bideford

Worth the trip to remind myself just how weird the people of Swindon are. Not very welcoming and a girl of about 9 was taking the money behind the bar. Seriously.

Nice enough ground though. Looks like they’ve done some decent work on it.

Re: Stevenage (h)

This will be the lowest attendance for a first team game since....?

Lowest since we played in the LDV (01/02) is about 5,500. Its going to be somewhere close to that.

Re: The Non - League thread

Interesting betting on the FA Vase.

I would say the best 3 teams left in it are Marske, Sporting Bromsgrove and Coleshill. (Ive got the Northern and Midland leagues down as the strongest step 5 divisions). The latter are one round behind, but they are 25/1. That's if you can get a bet on.

2. Not appointed Stam in the first place and stuck with McDermott 3. Put up with fans moaning that the team isn't good enough, we're not doing as well as we should, we need to play 4-5-1, we should get a manager like Jaap Stam in, Ironically, the way McDermott set us up for most of his second spell...

Re: The Non - League thread

Something a bit different for me yesterday. FA Vase 4th Round Desborough Town 2 - 4 Stourport Swifts (AET) Att 290. Desborough is a village just outside Kettering. A proper spit n sawdust non-league ground with big old fashioned floodlights, a watertower and not a lick of paint to the ground for yea...

Re: The Non - League thread

I think Bracknell is another example of the positive things that can happen to a club when money is invested in the right way. Seems they are getting gates of around 250 every time I look, which in turn means they can pay the most wages in the division. I have paid one visit there recently, and it d...

I see Glenn Tamplin has gone on the sick list at Billericay. Standing down from some duties for 3 months.

Its started.

Re: Record Watch 2017/18

Bit of a non- entity because they only start with a target of 114, but only 7 remain in the Premier League that can achieve 106 As for the rest of the EFL, we won't lose any from the list until at least 12 games in and that assumes someone's lost the lot, which of course they haven't yet. Bolton ar...

Re: Scoring first vs conceding first

I think you'd be surprised just how biased the stats are towards the team scoring 1st in ANY game

the same goes for corners. Fans get excited when their team gets one. The odds on actually scoring from a corner are 1.7%, or thereabouts.

FA Vase draw:

Eastbourne Town v Windsor
Blackfield & Langley v Bracknell Town
Thatcham Town v Biggleswade

Tough draws all round. Looks like draw stayed regional.

Re: The Non - League thread

Larkhall Athletic 2 -3 Taunton Town.

Bucket list ground ticked off. A completely unique venue that even my satnav struggled to find, cut into the hillside on the outskirts of Bath.

Worth the trip if you ever get the chance.

With a Didcot v Maidenhead tie lined up for the B&B Cup, id be refraining from comments like that if I were you.

Re: The Non - League thread

Was looking today at the fate of clubs promoted from the National South since it was founded in 04/05. Couple of outliers in Wimbledon and Newport who never looked back and made it to the Football League. Of the more traditional non league clubs aside from those like Lewes who suffered some sort of...

Re: The Non - League thread

Very disappointed with Maidenhead's performance. Never took the game to Gateshead and struggled to create anything of real note if there's consistently more of that sort of form they'll go down. Liked the look of Gateshead though, seemed well organised, determined, quick and direct and given the st...

Re: The Non - League thread

Took in Maidenhead v Gateshead Saturday. Maidenhead started very slowly and were 2 down inside 8 minutes, they looked slow and ponderous. They were lucky to be 2 down at half time. Gateshead quickly added a 3rd and were pretty comfortable until the end to run out 3-0 winners. Gateshead were excelle...

Re: The Non - League thread

I took in Southall as well. Funny, I thought FoC might be here and saw a culprit who I thought might be you, even though I have no idea what you look like! Loitering by the exit corner flag near the end? Not sure ive seen a last min goal disallowed after being celebrated for so long. Visitors on the...
