Re: Veljko Paunović - Whelmgauge

Anybody who was at Millwall away, and many home games, will not be sad to see Bowen go. I didn't want him in the first place, he delivered no joy and no memorable moments (that I was there for at least) and failed to get the best out of the players. It was turgid in what was a poor league last seaso...

Re: BFTG Villa

Aside from the stamp...much has been said on that. A good game, which was pretty even. We were lucky to get away with a penalty for handball - it was pretty blatant. The new 'keeper is a massive upgrade, and all in all we looked good at the back. I liked the passing out from the back and general bui...

Re: Worst Reading XI

I was at that game, and no way this team wins due to Primus, Caskey, Parky, Archie and Lambert (who was doing something very naughty indeed in his personal life, but I shall say no more) However if we were to rate them: Scott Howie - truly awful Stuart Gray - truly forgetful Andy Bernal - Limited, a...

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

Max respect to all who went tonight, and will go again next time. I, for my failings, would have been there if it was not for work (out the country for it). (I say this, but if I were home I would also have to talk the wife into letting me go, and not spend the weekend with her instead.) But the siz...

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

Ok I started chants on the Southbank. When we went to madstad our culture was lost. I was one of the chantstarters on thr East Stand in the middle. We were the loudest. We were the left side if the stand. Then the middle. The biggest loss of culture was reserved seating which screwed it all up for ...

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

While I would never wish the club to do badly, I honestly wouldn't mind playing in the next division down for a while.

New away trips, win more games, sell and get rid out of a lot of the dead weight from the club and start again.

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

Some will have moved, some will simply have other things to do on a Saturday especially those in their 30s who are now likely to be married/in long term relationships and/or with kids. As a result, people will simply not be able to make it 23 times a year and it isn't cheap. Going to football is me...

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

I rarely go these days. It's not the money. It's not even necessarily having a baby (although that is a factor). It's more the total lack of enjoyment I experienced for the last two seasons I had a Season Ticket. Add in the detachment between the club and the town (I honestly hand on heart don't kn...

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

Sorry to hear about Gary - I have moved away from Caversham, so not been in there for years. I may be wrong but I thought those behind the goals were younger people - rather than the older fans. I suspect the actions of the stewards over the last 10 years have led to this. Constantly being told to s...

Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

Where have the hardcore gone from Y26 and Y25? I was shocked against Wednesday by the large empty spaces up there, a whole generation seem to have gone - traditional Reading fans. I didn't see any of the likes of Gary or the Prince of Wales lot there, lots of faces simply missing. My generation (mid...

Re: Who could replace Stam?

Went onto “better things”.....tbf Dean (otherwise known as Dead) Smith has only stagnated, but otoh, secured the clubs position. If Brentford ever had “a saviour” in recent years, it was Mad Dog Allen.....his fund-raising and profile helped save them from extinction not so long back Warburton was y...

Re: Who could replace Stam?

Dead Smith of Brentford. No idea why nobody else has taken him, good manager on small budget, and has never failed.

Brentford are only a Championship club because of him.

Royston Drenthe

He has retired at 29...no mention of Reading, but interesting nevertheless. He should have been brilliant, but instead little more than a Mass Saar.

Well the world's most boring thread has come to an end with news from the club...

I'm told...

I can confirm the numbers were:

£965 - 3389
Signed football - 3797

Yes i must have wasted a fortune over the years by forgetting i purchased a ticket, i just happened to find mine in my back pocket and feel this may be a sign that after all the years of failure, this could be my week.

Ha, well thats closer than i have ever been. You would think they would post the results somewhere, considering half the crowd is not watching at half time.
