Re: Reading v Millwall, I'm looking forward to seeing

Being chased across Propsect park after we scored a late goal to change the result.. I think it was about 1985?

I vaguely remember we scored late and then said lets go........... but they seemed to appear as we headed up Tilehurst Road..

Re: Solutions to problems (instead of moaning)

This afternoon I watched the youtube video of our record breaking 106 season, (all 2 hours 50 minutes of it) and it`s easy to forget the brilliant wingers we had then in Little Convey and Stephen Hunt. of course they had Murty and Shorey to link up with them, not ashamed to say it made me emotional...

Ex players goals

Took a last minute decision to wander down and watch Exeter this afternoon..

Would recommend checking out Pierce Sweeney's goal this evening.. absolute peach..

Both him and Jake Taylor put in a decently shift.

Great to get the updates from the Mad stad... please can we kick on now!

Re: Tevreden Out, Nani In

BT must have been on thin ice after Stam's underwhelming second year. Particularly as it must have been his influence that saw McD get sacked. The owners most likely accept that Clement needs time and a fair crack. Little point in churning managers. You say that, but you are fine with ‘churning man...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (a) sponsored by the season starts here

My record of watching Reading v Preston apart from the 5-1 at the madj stad a few years back is truly shocking and my record at Deepdale is awful, I don't even think I have even seen us score there let alone get a win... But, we should have won nearby at Blackburn and those sorts of things can sit i...

Re: Clement

Excellent post. Without knowing, I had assumed many clubs were utilizing stats these days, but maybe not? Your example of Brentford (a club without an academy) is telling. Do you know whether we employ similar? (Or was that another of the cuts made by Gourlay with his machete?) At a guess, having b...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Watford (h) sponsored by a difficulty to enthuse

Harper / Sidwell Karacan / Legs Each slightly different types of players but look at the power and control those combinations gave us in Midfield and the platform to win matches... We don't have one of those types of players at the moment let alone a working combination... We've got either luxury li...

Re: Palace(H) friendly Saturday July 28th

Go into the season expecting a relegation fight. Show some character and suck it up, the job to turn us around is going to take at least two seasons. We need to trim the squad and make it healthy again. We've started doing that, don't bottle it now because of one bad pre-season result. This is the ...

Re: RUMOUR - George Evans to Sunderland

yep just seen the chronicle article. Very dubious about anything they say, but think 250k would be less than I'd want/expect for him. 500-750k would be nearer the mark Not sure about that. We're lucky to get anything for him. He adds no value . Next let's get shot of John Swift Assume that is a jok...

Absolutely - watched him a few times when he was at Exeter and he looked more than capable - not at all surprised he has done well there.

Also like the look of the lad Storey who has just moved to Preston today.

Re: CONFIMRED - John O’shea signs for Reading

So, we have signed 3 solid proven pro's, 2 of them captain's. All 3 are/have been. Elphick would make 4 if he signs. Looks more and more like a Coppell squad. Though now there's a good crop of youngsters to nuture. The off the field influence is equally important. Clement does seem to be going to b...

Re: RUMOUR- John O’shea set to sign for Reading

Regardless of why, this is about as inspiring as gluten free ryvita. The thought of him actually lining up for us is too hard to bare. Agree - At least when Weiser signed there was that 'he's from Liechtenstein' I wonder how good he is / could be mystery? If O'Shea signs, right now cannot actually ...

Found myself thinking of us starting with a central defensive pairing of McShane and O'Shea... did a little shudder... Agree with the comment about any aspiring promotion team would not have him in their squad... What happened to Reading signing aspiring young hungry players like Kitson, Doyle, Long...

Re: CONFIMRED - Andy Yiadom

Sounds like a sensible signing given our ambitions at the moment. He'll probably move between LB and RB cover for most of next season before fully replacing Gunter the one after. Next on the target list is someone in midfield who can make things happen and a decent striker. He's 26 and signed a 4 y...
