Re: England’s World Cup Finals 2018

Your debate is exactly why VAR shouldn't be used in penalty situations. Because some people are stupid? For an example of why it shouldn't be used, it's Lovren's 'foul' in the Spurs (?) game last season. There's nothing to debate on the France penalty. Considering you are literally the only person ...

Re: England’s World Cup Finals 2018

I feel like the refs are already not giving some decisions because they think the VAR lads will do it for them. The Peru and Sweden pens should have been given on-field by any half decent ref but they seem to be heading down the road where umpires in cricket never seem to give a run out any more, th...

Both post the original release of 3 Lions of course so ineligible. I guess they could have thrown in Banks's save

Re: Ingerlund Vs Tunisia

EGR's point is valid but then how do you define the period of hurt? Who can say they didn't thoroughly enjoy David Platt's winner against the Belgians? I tried to come up with a rule of three but apart from "that tackle by Moore" and "when Lineker scored" as obviously mentioned I...

Re: World Cup 2018

So at least in this world cup it seems the time allowed for VAR is as long as it takes the VAR team to review it and then tell the ref to have a look himself

Re: Ingerlund Vs Tunisia

The weekends games should have served as a good warning to both players and fans as to what to expect. Apart from the dangers of over-confidence, which this well prepared England side appear to have covered, that's nonsense really. The only thing I'd glean from the games so far that applies to this...

Re: World Cup Punditry

They're all pcunts but I've been particularly rattled by Matterface and Pearce with their pre-planned anecdotes that they insist on going through regardless of what is happening on the pitch, can't remember which match it was but Pearce was telling some story about a previous world cup and his co-co...

Re: VAR

The Argie one went out for a goal kick so once he allowed play to restart the ref couldn’t go back whereas the Peru one the ball didn’t go dead, who knows how long they have to look at it mind you? Certainly none of the commentators

Re: World Cup 2018

I can see an argument that it wasn’t a pen as the defender got the slightest touch on the ball but calling that a dive when he’s clearly tripped is Lawro levels of daft. On that point I’m slightly disappointed it wasn’t Jonathan Pearce who was the first to get upset and confused by VAR but Lawro is ...

Jonathan Pearce having his usual mare. Says "Corner to Argentina" when Uruguay get a corner, then a minute later Suarez hits the side netting from 2 yards out and Pearce says "GOAL! 1-0 TO URUGUAY......... Oh no, it's been disallowed" He might be even worse than Tyldesley

Re: World Cup 2018

Apparently linesmen have been instructed NOT to raise their flags for offside when the decision is very tight. Seems FIFA want play to be allowed to develop and if a goal is scored to let VAR make the decision. Don't know whether to give the lineo the benefit of the doubt that his non-decision in t...
