Re: New Manager

A number of managers have ruled themselves out of the job. Only one manager has done that, the rest is based on paper talk, and all the papers seem to be contradicting each other, so go figure Jokanovic? Bruce? According to Watts they ruled themselves out. Maybe he has it wrong. Sky reported that J...

Re: The Local Journo Thread

I'm afraid I'm going to have to jump on the OMA bandwagon and slag off the local journos. Well, the Chronicle more than JLow, who has been okay. Their demeanour has pissed me off this week, posting every rumour they can find in the hope one of them sticking, and when called out on it, getting haught...

Re: New Manager

We seem to be struggling to attract decent candidates for the job. Unfortunately we haven’t been such an unattractive proposition for many years. Absolutely agree on the second part, but how do you know about the first? A number of managers have ruled themselves out of the job. Only one manager has...

Re: New Manager

Surely this is missing the point that saying someone's record is far from faultless is not the same as saying they are incompetent. It took 2 days after Stan was sacked for us to appoint Clement. It's now been a week with no manager and the rumours are we still don't have a shortlist. Glad that we ...

Hello strawman argument!

Answer the question.

Ok. Yes, he probably had an overall say in affairs at Swindon Town.

But that wasn't the point I was making.

Re: New Manager

I am just pointing out that his most recent job in football was to oversee Swindon Town's relegation to League 2. It isn't exactly a magical and inspiring endorsement is it? He wasn't the manager. Manager and DOF are very different roles You believe Tim Sherwood didn't have overall say in affairs a...

Re: New Manager

Stump up in what sense though? I think we could pay him what he wants but the stumbling block surely comes when Jokanovic finds out how much money he'd have to spend imporving the squad. All he needs to do is take one look at us and see that he'd need at least £50m to turn it into a top 6 side. The...

Re: New Manager

Honestly think the club just need to stump up for Jokanovic. Fulham were in a similar position to us when he took over and he got them promoted. I think it would raise attendances from the off, the football would be better, the atmosphere around the club would improve. It's a no brainer for me. Stu...

Re: New Manager

Ady said that Tim Sherwood was now in the betting  I'm not suggesting he'd be the right man for us, but I think Sherwood gets a bit of a bad press. He did a decent job at Spurs and was certainly a big part of getting some of their talented youngsters through the system whilst he was a success ...

Re: New Manager

Sure. But he was also CEO during the most successful period in our club's history. You can't just cherry-pick reasons to demonstrate incompetence It was a tongue in cheek, throwaway comment (the type HNA specialises in) that I didn't realise would generate quite so much fury, it certainly wasn't me...

Re: New Manager

This kind of shit really winds me up. Nigel Howe is an absolute titan of of a businessman and I won't hear a word against him. I mean, it's not like we were on the brink of administration during his last tenure as CEO.... :? Because that was his fault :| It was, of course, a little tongue in cheek....

I'm not a Reading fan, but I come in peace :D . I am from Serbia and I am a big fan of Jokanovic. Media here in Serbia are now reporting that he is set to join your club, so I wanted to tell you what you should expect from him, if he indeed comes to your club. 1. He always started the season slowly...

Re: New Manager

Closer to home for him though and we have no idea how much he is on either. Depends on his motives I guess. If he is a football man then it is a no brainer for him. Decent record, 2 Portuguese titles, a Chinese title and a Greek title. He had a nightmare in Germany with 1860 Munich, although he was...
