Re: Jaap's Radio Comments

I didn't boo, i cringed when i heard them, but i can understand them at the same time. I am struggling to understand what's going on, but at the same time i see this was very predictable. We excelled last season when expectations were low, and now that we've gone and signed Aluko + others, as well ...

Re: Jaap's Radio Comments

The owners aren't going to be happy wih declining revenues as footfall decreases. The poor away attendance suggests that the issue isn't just related to Reading. Continental style football perhaps isn't going down too well. Very much like the Serie A games when televised on C4 some years back. Firs...

Re: Jaap's Radio Comments

Booing only ever serves to piss off the players and the management, never seen the point in it. Before the booing Gunther showed no interest in getting forward. After the booing (and after Gunther remonstrating with the crowd) he was far more positive in getting forward, leading to the goal. Do you...

Re: Under 23"s Supposedly not ready for first team football.

McCarthy, Karacan, Pearce, Robson-Kanu, Hector, Obita, Cooper, Tshibola and Kelly have all made the step up in recent years. The Academy is working. Stam did a good job of integrating Liam Kelly. He sees the likes of Smith, Andresson and Rinomhota every day in training, playing against Championship ...

Re: The idiots of Twitter thread

The Richmond tenancy (we've never had a ground share with anyone !) was very short lived and I can't believe any one cared too much about hurting their feelings ! It's quite odd to see people arguing in favour of flogging off the name of the ground. I've never thought there was much dignity in maki...

Re: Joseph Mendes

I joked with friends before the game on Saturday that I reckoned he'd gone on strike. :?

Can't see an injury keeping him out of the squad photo, unless it required urgent treatment.

Re: BFTG (H) Brizzle

I think the level of disappointment on here is testament to the success we enjoyed last season. And that was not down to millions of pounds of investment, it was due to Stam's system and tactics. We are short of a top striker, but we have improved our forward line and midfield. It needs time, but it...

Re: BFTG (H) Brizzle

Would have won that 3-0 on another day. Bristol did well tactically, but rarely caused us problems. Striker or not, 8 yards out with the whole goal to aim at, you have to score. Aluko played well and will improve as he learns the system. Barrow put in similar performances when he first joined and wa...

Re: Favourite signing this window?

100% Dave Edwards - a proper old fashioned midfielder/leader in the mould of Sidwell (probably better), exactly what we need Stam is building the spine of the team - McShane/Moore/Edwards - first names on the starting lineup every week Don't necessarily disagree, but interested to hear who you thin...

Re: Upgrade for Gilksey

For those of us of a certain age the sight of Gilkesy flying down the left touchline by the south bank (always played better in the second half) circa 1993 (his best season) is the indelible memory of that era. Undoubtedly my favourite player at the time. For him to be appointed caretaker manager i...

Re: Our Strongest Championship side??

Our real strength is our bench. I think we'll see a lot of rotation in the midfield and up front. We'll be able to change formations smoothly with one sub and bring on serious talent, all of which should be fit and well rested. Imagine chasing the ball for 70 minutes, then seeing fresh, fast, powerf...

Re: Our Strongest Championship side??

The players we have hasn't been the issue, it's the midfield and Stam's system. We've proven that when we set-up to be solid, we're difficult to score against. A combination of injuries and individual errors has caused our issues so far this season. However, we have addressed that now. Not much you ...

Re: Our Strongest Championship side??

If we were to sign a striker, we'd have enough to finish in the top six, but there are a number of clubs who will think that. Stam has a different set of challenges to face now, he's got to deliver a playoff spot at a minimum. You can't smash your transfer record signing one of your top targets and ...

Re: Rumour: Sone Aluko

If this transfer window ends with Aluko instead of an out-and-out centre forward, then I think a lot of fans will be slightly puzzled to say the least. He's not a prolific goalscorer, has an eye for row Z and he'd presumably be displacing a promising Barrow or fan-favourite McCleary. However, we kn...

If they plan to use Andressen as back-up, then great news. VDB and Evans should be a last resort.

Re: CONFIMRED - Dave Edwards

Over his career, including the PL, it eclipses Kelly last season and the beginning of this. That means including lots of lower-level appearances for Edwards (including the same number of Conference games and over 100 fourth-tier games). Championship alone, Edwards scores twice as often - but Kelly ...

Bacuna and Barrow have brought in the extra pace that was missing which gave Kelly a lot more Impetus. . Perhaps Swift would have have looked a lot better in yesterdays formation. 5 at the back with JVB and Bacuna shielding. Meant the team looked very solid. Swift has definitely been targeted more,...
