Re: Have we sold the Mad Stad to the owners/someone else?

Clearly work was done, they had to install impermeable membrane to protect the ground water as well as putting the venting in. My concern would be how much development you could do without lots more remediation work. As RB. Points out though REP got planning permission so clearly development is pos...

Re: Have we sold the Mad Stad to the owners/someone else?

Woukd be interesting to know the terms of the lease wouldn’t it ! We certainly did a lot of remediation work when the ground was built but it is still a landfill site with methane produced and you’d think there would be restrictions on what it could be used for. Not sure valuing it as potential dev...

Re: Anton took money!!

The bit that made me chuckle was the club reverting to JM when he didn't want it. Anton had bought 51% and then didn't cough up for the remaining shares in the two years, after which the shares reverted back to JM. But in the that time Anton had built up a massive debt, meaning JM suddenly owned a ...

Re: Have we sold the Mad Stad to the owners/someone else?

Not sure how and why this may be relevant, but don't the Thais still own the hotel? There's a little sign on the wall as one comes out of the bogs at the bar in the hotel which says something like: "In deference to our Thai owners, we aim to offer authentic Thai cuisine in the restaurant ...&q...

Re: Do we really have billionaire owners?

Word from a friend who works in the same office as Gourlay, and may go to explain why its all a bit of a mess. Clement signs some of the players he wants. Gourlay signs some of the players he wants. The owners' sign some of the players they want. Can't be usual to have 3 different sets of stakehold...

In all seriousness Just check out the amount of Chelsea "players" that have been loaned out since my post that you have actually quoted. You join the club as a youth from all around the globe, knowing full-well that you will never actually play for them...I'm sure that the monies good tho...

Re: Safe standing progress

This is such a hypothetical argument. The Government would have to change secondary legislation to enable all seater standing. What would be their motivation to do it? Win a few votes of a few football fans. What is the risk? A change in the rules leads to increased anti social behaviour, which wou...

Re: Safe standing progress

Is safe standing really taking over the world ? Is it not essentially a UK issue ? Are there many other countries where football grounds are compelled legally to be all seater ? For European grounds it is only European games that require seating so they come at this from the opposite angle (how do ...

Re: Safe standing progress

So, the most obvious solution would be standing at the North and South ends. Back to a bit of tradition then, with the home and away vocal elements at opposite ends of the stadium. My understanding is that the structural issue is down to the steepness of the current seating. The stadium was built f...

Re: Safe standing progress

This was discussed after I personally raised it with the club at the Supporter's Focus Group about 18 months ago. The club actively support safe standing, but the stadium would require significant structural work to be able to accommodate it. Also (bearing in mind this was discussed under previous ...

Re: Madejski Stadium cladding.

For a raft of reasons I would be amazed if there was any similarity, there is no reason why they would use insulatimg cladding on a stadium. The stadium manager is pretty switched on though so he's likely to have been on top of it. I'd have thought the hotel would be more likely to be an issue. fro...

Re: Diving Bans

Yeah, if you penalise the obvious ones and leave the dubious ones, it's essentially just creating a system of encouraging players to get better at disguising diving. Whereas if you shrug and accept sometimes you'll get it wrong and someone'll be unfairly penalised there is no incentive to get bette...

Re: Diving Bans

Yeah - I think they would only be able to ban players for clear, ridiculous dives. I can't see how they can ban if there is some doubt or a player dives out the way to avoid a clattering. I kind of think the opposite - it needs to be harsh enough that you don't risk it. Yeah, if you penalise the ob...
