Re: Solutions to problems (instead of moaning)

instead of moaning that we gave Meite a 4 year contract , get the coaches to work with him on ball retention and trapping the ball a bit better. In fact this should be basic stuff with all the players. So being able to consistently hit the target when shooting isn't important? All we need to...

Re: Solutions to problems (instead of moaning)

Of course they don't but we have all seen with our own eyes how dreadful we are this season, particularly at home, and with the poor points tally earned so far it is probably going to take mid-table form for the rest of the season to avoid relegation. As I see it, the prospect of relegation is real...

Re: Solutions to problems (instead of moaning)

Don't you think we are under threat of relegation? No one gets relegated in October. I think that Clement should just be allowed to get on with the job this season. Let managers manage and don't worry about league positions unless we are under serious threat of relegation.

Re: Will going down be a bad thing?

Whether relegation hurts or helps you in the long run is 99% down to the finances of the club and owners. If they have the capacity and willingness to fund us whilst we're in League One it would probably be ok. The Financial Fair Play rules are currently restricting our ability to sign players, Bei...

Re: BFTG West Brom

I'm pissed atm but will post a BFTG tomorrow. Just wanted to say the revisionist views on Williams are a bit much. He was heavily criticised while here and rarely played well enough to influence a game. If anything Bacuna, despite playing in a team with as low a morale as possible, has shown himsel...

Re: [POLL] Is Aluko really that poor?

Every time i've watched him he's been pretty poor. Shows a few flashes of skill here and there but overall there's no end product.

Would be interesting to see him in a better team though.

Re: My first rumour report. Things not well at Reading.

I got an email from an insider at the club earlier in the week.

Apparently there's this new FIFA 19 game out and you can ' experience authenticity like never before. '

Don't want to give any clues that would identify the sender - all I can say is he/she has the initials 'RFC'.

FFS Reading.

I suppose going in the right direction to get to this position - but the lack of mental strength is still worrying.

Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

I would suggest that the typical match day attendance can be broken down into:; 'Elm Park Legacy' ~ 8,000ish (10,000 with family) 'Mad Stad hardcore' (basically 'Y26ers') - 2,000ish Casual fans - Between 1,000 and 6,000 depending on how well the team is doing. That gets topped up to capacity by 'to...

Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We simply don’t have the fan base for good support. It’s too low in quantity and quality . Apathetic fans, apathetic team, apathetic club. This. Even the organisers of Club 1871 have been overtaken with apathy. Not heard a peep out of them this season, the...

Re: Brentford (A) - 29 Sept

The £16 cost and one and a quarter hour train journey is a bit painful for somewhere that's 30 odd miles down the road. If there's 3-4 of you i'd recommend getting a taxi there and back. Might only be £35 or so each way.

Re: Reading FC Direct update - membership

Yep, it seems to have wiped all of the points from 2011 (when the points system came into the club). Just checked the new RFCSupport twitter page and they have confirmed there is a technical error since switching the website to the new platform and all points will be restored shortly. The points sy...

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

I think people are right that if/when Reading start winning again and play half entertaining football that most of the problems we mentioned go away and fans will come back to the Mad Stad. It will have a cumulative effective: more fans - better atmosphere - team has more support - better results - ...

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

From reading posts on here it almost sounds like the club would be better off if it moved back into a 12,000 seater stadium in the town centre and just accepted life as a league 1/2 outfit.

Re: My first rumour report. Things not well at Reading.

Is Madejski really too poor/uninterested to buy the club back and get it on some kind of decent footing? He can't take the money with him and there's no spouse to think about.

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

Dont think there a culture loss just at Reading, pretty sure its across the whole country. People just cant be arsed to go to the game when there is already so much footy on TV. We also have a generation of hatred towards football in those oxf*rd rugby fans who complain about the money and prima do...

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

I too have been struggling with apathy, I think it's just a normal response when so many recent seasons have been poor. The last time I felt truly connected to the team was in 2011/12, when we responded perfectly to a heartbreaking playoff defeat. Since then, it's been mostly downhill, with the exc...
