Re: England - the future....

I don't think we should understate the gap in quality between the Championship and even mid-table Premier League, nevermind international football. It is Premier League minutes that our players need. It's good that Southgate is keeping tabs on the likes of Mount, but I'd be very surprised if he got ...

Reiss Nelson scores on his Hoffenheim debut https://www.101greatgoals.com/news/reiss-nelson-goal-hoffenheim-debut/ Reading about this it transpires that Nelson is the 8th British player to make his Champions League debut for a non-British club. Was surprised to see one name at the top of the list -...

Re: Women Pundits/Commentators

Perhaps before asking for reasons why women should be pundits, you should first give reasons why they shouldn't be? I mean, you didn't actually give any, you just quoted Leon Knight, and he didn't really give any either. The closest he got was saying that Alex Scott was 'scratching her head' whilst ...

Have never found Spurs particularly offensive.

Re: Champions League & Europa League 2018/19

tbf they got the job done...didn't watch the match so can't really comment A lot of reports saying Liverpool 'weren't at their best' (again), but I think over the season 'their best' will be re-calibrated a bit, shifted to reflect a slightly lessen-gegenpressen, or at least, whilst they are still s...

Yeah, this is an arse of an opening game for Liverpool (and it's away to Napoli next). Can see a 2-1 or 3-1 victory for PSG tonight.

The deliciously stupid irony of Knight's post is that Alex Scott has more international caps than any of the pundits she works with.

This will sound really outlandish and probably unpopular but I would like the Champions League to become exactly that. A league of just the Champions from Europes top league. Have a league of 12 - 16 teams who play eachother twice over the course of the season. You are guaranteed some huge games on...

Nolan sacked from Notts County. 1 point from 5 games after making the play offs last year. You're only as good as your last five games I guess. Thing is they were top in November (admittedly thanks to Nolan), and second in January, but won just 7 of their last 18 games. They should have gone up. Ha...

Re: The footballer gets arrested thread

Might have been a tiny, tiny chance for Johnson had Johnson taken full and immediate responsibility for his actions and shown humility, but both he and his family seem to have taken the view that she was nearly old enough, wanted it, and he should never have gone to prison in the first place. So abs...

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

The detachment thing is real. There is little sense that the club is 'Reading's football team', more a football team that happens to play in Reading. And then only on the outskirts. I'm with Mags in not really knowing who owns the club. Outside of Chris Gunter, we don't have any players who define R...

I see. BLOLoated. Red Bull Salzburg and Red Bull Leipzig drawn in the same group (with Celtic and Rosenborg). Chelsea have BATE Borisov, PAOK and Vidi FC of Hungary. Arsenal have a tough draw against Sporting Lisbon as well as two long trips to Qarabag (Azerbaijan) and FC Vorskla (Ukraine). Lazio an...

Potentially tough draws for Liverpool, Spurs and Utd. City will be fairly happy. In the Europa League, Burnley crash out whilst Celtic and Rangers both make the group stages. Also F91 Dudelange become the first club from Luxembourg to reach the group stages of either UEFA competition. Yep, only Cit...

Champions League group stage draw today at 5pm. Despite their run to the final last season, Liverpool will be in pot 3 again, after Benfica, who have a higher coefficient, got through their final qualifying game. That being said, I think pots 2 and 3 are fairly evenly matched. Possible 'group of dea...
