Re: BFTG Wednesday (a)

I don't think there is much point in pointing out everything we did wrong there. Midfield was dire. Swift looked like he was playing with an under 18s team around him but was equally ineffective. Everyone seemed afraid to take a shot. Ref was poor. Goals were all from sloppy defending. Bod sadly has...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Sheffield Wednesday (a) sponsored by c'mon URZ

Anyone else notice Sheffield are the ones playing like they're chasing the game?

Let's see what we can do about that goal difference to help Brum survive. Sheffield are more likely to put 10 past us then we are to get just 1 back.

100% agree. Very little has changed. The only major thing being we don't know what the tactics will be when we inevitably lose.

Lol. JVDB can't even make a tackle any more. We are awful.

Future England star Liam Kelly failing to pass a ball into the box despite it being a 2 on 1.

And in a crucial game like this, too.

What you on? Bod had a shot blocked on the line.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Sheffield Wednesday (a) sponsored by c'mon URZ

Lots of ball watching there. JVDB has been guilty of destroying any chance we have had of good attacking play 4 times by my count.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Sheffield Wednesday (a) sponsored by c'mon URZ

JVDB may as well put on a blue shirt and start smashing the ball at Mannone with the way he is passing today.

Re: Building for next season

The time to sign Long was 2 years ago. You may be right, but what we need is some POWER, some speed, a few hard men in our side. I remember the Everton CBs saying how Long & Hunt didn't give them a moment's rest. We miss that element. Kermy doesn't do it, Martin (ha-ha) and neither does Bod (wh...

Re: BFTG Sunderland

Fair enough - but who else would you have in there? We’ve tried pretty much every combo and it’s come up short. Bring Joey back in? Sadly think I’d prefer him to Evans or Edwards currently Now don't dismiss this out of hand as the ramblings of a madman, but what about Tyler in there as the defensiv...

Re: BFTG Sunderland

Blackett has all the physical and technical characteristics to play that role but lacks the mental ability which is arguably the most important. He's seems to lose concentration too much.

Re: Building for next season

When I met Shane Long and told him I was a Reading Fan he just said "oh yeah?"
Seems like a lovely guy and, imo, would kill it in the championship but I don't think he has given us much thought since leaving..

Oh btw in the football manager 2018 January update they changed Loader from a striker to a AML.
Anyone know what's up with his position.

Re: Building for next season

What would a good/realistic offer for Moore be? 7 mill? 10? 12? 15? Could get a decent cb replacement for that.... I would happily have ...... feck names escaped me. Who we sold to Chelsea and plays for hull and cba to google. Can see West Brom or Southampton if they come down happily putting a 7 -...

Re: Building for next season

Yeah, some good thoughts. A lot is dependent on the manager, right? Assuming we have upgraded massively in this regard, then this will presumably reflect in the standings/promotion(?). A common narrative, as I recall, was that we have (or had) a lot of talent throughout the side. That's not to say ...

Re: Building for next season

A different question, I suppose, is what would be people's expectations for next season in Champ? I asked this earlier this season, and was assured we should be comfortably Top 10 and challenging for promotion every season. Everyone still feel that way? It is completely impossible to answer before ...

Re: Building for next season

Dack is a good player but no water-carrier. Swift should already be capable of playing in a similar position to him. We need a strong mobile defensively minded CM who can win the ball and get play moving quickly. Like... Danny Williams :x Except Williams wasn't that good at winning the ball and the...

Re: Building for next season

Of the SENIOR players as far as I'm concerned only Moore, Kelly, Swift, Barrow and possibly Bodvarsson are worth keeping, if all the others left it wouldn't bother me. I get this is a dramatic way to state other than these players our squad is lacking in true quality but we would be hard pressed to...

Re: Building for next season

Can you release players still in contract? surely its not that easy. Mutual terminations are possible but can anyone see Joey Van Den Berg agreeing to that shit? He's never going to get it as good as he has it here. I thought you could straight up release players by paying up their contract in full?
