Re: Stadium screens

And I was incensed that the ref didn't allow that goal! I didn't live in the Reading area and media coverage was nowhere near as good back then, so it wasn't until the start of the next season that I learned that there was a very valid reason why he had disallowed it! They had highlights on M...

No, can do better than that! https://thepeachreview.files.wordpress.com/2016/02/screen-shot-2016-02-04-at-1-48-47-pm.png http://soccerstadiumdigest.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/MBSdebut.jpg That is the best looking stadium in sports bar none. Getting a bit off topic but I've been lucky enough to ...

Re: Weekend Football

For me the problem is that it's also still a matter of opinion and so even on review it comes down to what that official thinks at that moment in time. That's the nuance I was trying to pull out. In cricket, the umpire gives his opinion, and if technology says it's a close call, it stays with his o...

Re: BFTG Forest Home

Royalty Creeps in...... We've got our Reading back! Passion, movement and a purpose in our play. What a change in a short space of time. Mr Gomes, I salut you..... I remember people saying that after Clements first win against QPR. Not really. We had passion in the QPR game, but almost nothing else...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Nottingham Forest (h) sponsored by Steve Stone

Slightly puzzled by the BBC report... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46766459 ...which talks about us "defending in numbers" and only looking better once Forest were down to 10 men. At no stage in the game did Forest ever have a spell of pressure and look on top. I wouldn't say it wa...

Re: RUMOUR - Lewis baker

Whatever the reason, my point was you can't just push players out wide and expect them to play like traditional wingers. Players don't (in general) have that skill set any more.

Re: RUMOUR - Lewis baker

So it points towards getting in players with clever movement and the ability to carve up opponents. Rather than using classic wing play of stretching the play, beating your man and putting a ball into the box. Barrow can beat players using pace but thats about it. These days they are incredibly few...

Re: BFTG United (A)

I think the problem with VAR is that there's a ref involved still making decisions. So now you've got two people looking at the same thing with slightly different opinions. And on top of that they both know the same thing will be watched on TV, in slow mo where everything looks worse, and by people...

Re: Clear out started

Whilst Stam's appointment nearly brought us Premier League football again, he's brought out the most divided fanbase in a long long time, I'd like to see average home attendances between 2015/16 and 2016/17 because even though we went from 17/18/19th to 3rd, I wouldn't be surprised to see attendanc...

Re: JOSE GOMES' BARMY ARMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loader? Really? I've seen enough of him quite frankly to see he needs to be shipped out on loan and nowhere near our first team. That one on one decision yesterday to take the extra touch and try and round the keeper and making a real mess of that chance summed up where he is at the minute. Based o...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Manchester United (a) sponsored by down down deeper and down

The only hope really is that the players should be up for the game, so they ought to play better than they normally do.

And when I say "hope", I mean as "hope we aren't embarrassed", not get something from the game. If we keep if to 0-4 I'll be almost happy.

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

Maybe it makes up for the match in 1989 at the Vetch, when Swansea absolutely battered us for much of the game, yet we won 6-1. (3-0 up early on, they pulled it back to 3-1 on half an hour. They then attacked non-stop until about 20 minutes from the end, when we broke and added a 4th, followed by a...

The consolation there is that other than United or Reading fans, no bugger will be watching it.

Re: Are we really going down this season

Top of Div One = bigger crowds and more excitement and local interest than the lower echelons of the Chump......maybe It seems a pretty big assumption to say going down would see us challenge for promotion next year. Even if we kick out all the players who are either crap or not pulling their weigh...

My view is we’re in the shit, we only have a few weeks to implement changes to get us out of it.

We need very simple game plans and tactics. Do the basics right and claw points. Negative, probably.

My fear is that there isn't a game plan simple enough for our current players.

Re: BBC Radio Berks

Possession football isn't something that only top players can play. It's the norm around the world. Have you ever actually seen Dutch football? Dutch football is nothing like the sort of football we played under Stam. Also, the big reason the Dutch are a bit up and down on the international stage i...
