Re: Safe standing progress

The steepness criteria is reasonable, and although I have stood on some pretty steep terracing in my time, I don't think any are as steep as the back half of the Madejski seating. Even if for argument's sake though, that people are more prepared to be cosier with regards to how close they are to the...

Re: Should club offer free away coaches ever game?

A lot of fans who go away go to have a beer and something to eat and a look around etc - something you cannot do if you go by coach - unless they've changed it. Not been on a supporters coach for 30 years Never really understood that. I go to (drink and) watch football, I wouldn't walk around the g...

Re: Safe standing progress

Why on earth would you need more room to stand rather than sit? That sounds like on of those stupid clueless FLA ideas that has no basis at all in reality. Standing you need more room as you tend to move, there is more capacity where you can have 2 rows standing in the space for one sitting, but th...

We're playing their youth team, so unlikely.

The Cercle Brugge games is at the training ground in Oosterbeek, so I'd guess that game is there too.

Mass Saar was an athlete?

The only thing he ran for was a burger van.

I did realise his name works for the "we're on our way" song... Mannone...Mannone He is Vito Mannone What he came for, we don't know his transfer fee was undisclosed All we know is he's Vito Mannone ...then I realised he's about the only player we've signed in the last four or five years w...

Re: Safe standing progress

Also the idea of just adding rail seats would also reduce the capacity as you need more room to stand than sit so you lose 10% of capcaity. Why on earth would you need more room to stand rather than sit? That sounds like on of those stupid clueless FLA ideas that has no basis at all in reality. Sta...

Re: Safe standing progress

The last thing we need to do is encourage yet worse behaviour from football fans. Very much hope this goes absolutely nowhere. Make the home terracing at the opposite end from the away fans, and you probably reduce trouble by no longer having a flashpoint where the more boisterous home fans are onl...

Re: Summer Ins and Outs

The transfer fees shouldn't make too much of an impact as this will just sit on the balance sheet and be amortised over the life of the contact. E.G. we sign Darlow for £5m on a 5 year contract, we'll be incurring a 'cost' for accounting purposes of only £1m (£5m over 5 years) per year. It's the wa...

Re: Safe standing progress

Would need the stadium expansion to go ahead before it happens here. Would be interested to understand why it seems some grounds can just bolt the rail seats in whilst we would need significant work doing. Something to do with the height of the steps or rake of the stands perhaps ? Adding rail seat...

Re: Away day travel

Our take up of normal coach travel is incredibly low compared to other clubs. I know a trip on the official coaches isn't many people's idea of a wild day out, but I do wonder why our coach travel is so unpopular compared to other clubs.

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

Nope, but considering the club are given a set allocation each season, the notion that we launch our kit 'late' is nonsense. Launching towards the end of July is clearly a conscious decision taken by the club to get people talking about it, year after year. The "talk" though, is all about...

Re: Safe standing progress

Now that Shrewsbury have applied to put 500 rail seats into their South Stand and Northampton are following suit - and the Premier League are surveying all their clubs - there must be a reasonable chance that safe standing will come to the Madejski in the future. Reading have previously indicated s...

Re: Sunderland Crap

Bradley is one of many children who have suffered such diseases and whilst this individual case is sad, I don't think it should be sensationalised into a tragedy any further than any other child who has suffered a similar fate. As harsh as it sounds this 100%. I don't think it is. It's just more th...

Re: Sunderland Crap

I think the sour grapes are more to do with our sensational home record since the turn of the millennium. I'm not sure there is a more inoffensive club than us that gets so much scorn but then I don't think there is a single club with the same contrast between their first 80 years in the football l...

Re: Pre-Season tour - Holland 2017

It does kind of make sense though. Most top flight european teams tend to have a hardened element to their fanbase, and trying to steward that is likely to be both difficult and costly. If they're smart they'll on the sly let in any supporters who have emailed them directly about going out to Holla...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

I'm imagining the Kit strapped to a North Korean missile and fired off in the direction of Japan, with Kim Yong Un declaring us champions of the world, and the best team in North Korea. The Chinese influence over RFC and NK paying dividends for some great publicity.
