Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

When is Mark Hughes getting sacked? Great player, terrible manager! He's got worse, but that might be a product of the teams he's having to manage, but he wasn't always a poor manager. He did well for Wales, Blackburn and, to an extent, City before things have certainly gone downhill. I think he di...

Re: BFTG West Brom

I've not seen the game or highlights yet, but just wanted to offer some thoughts. From what I've seen so far Walker looks a solid keeper, made some good saves at Preston, and again in the QPR defeat, and yet from the comments on here you'd think he was Peter van der Kwaak reincarnated. I'm a keeper ...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

The problems are all to do with behind the scenes stuff and three if not four managers squads packaged, with a promotion or bust mentality that starts at the top. Even if Bruce had got promoted, the other issues would have remained. Anything sound familiar about this... (although maybe not quite pr...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Villa supporting colleagues of mine's main gripe with Bruce is that they've got one fit centre back in James Chester, and have been fudging it by playing Jedinak in as a makeshift centre back pretty much the whole season. The squad on Tuesday night had just Chester (who got sent off and now misses t...

Re: BFT - I don’t know what to call it

Not even Coppell would be able to motivate this lot. Coppell's answer is to recruit the right people in the first place. The right characters. People that have something to prove. I don't think any manager, Guardiola included would be able to get more from this group than Clement. The job that Clem...

Re: BFTG - Preston

I was also at Deepdale on Saturday. It was nice to come away with the 3 points, and also have a little bit of fortune going our way, but equally working hard to make the most of the good fortune and not being behind when perhaps we should have been at half time. I like the look of Walker, made some ...

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

A lot of the problems ultimately feed back to the team on the pitch. As others have pointed out, we need to see them care, to want it, to give their all, to go for the win or (figuratively) die trying. Whilst I don't accept the notion that these players don't care, there aren't enough moments that e...

Re: BFTG - Aston Villa (A)

Brummroyal I’m confused. The bit about Aluko continuing to leave Blackett exposed. Blackett is our left back, Aluko plays on the right wing ? I’m sure it’s me missing a tactical switch ! Have we put Aluko on the left ? Aluko played for parts of the first half on the left wing in front of us. The tw...

Re: BFTG - Aston Villa (A)

Bel8d back from the game from me. I thought this was a significant upgrade on the performance at Villa Park from Clement's second(?) game in charge at the back end of last season. In that game we had zero attacking threat, tried to simply defend and got battered 4-0. On Saturday, we created some exc...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

Big fan of the new home kit. 8/10

Agreed the away kit would look better in plain black but still decent. 6/10

Nice to see the keepers back in a sensible colour rather than luminous pink. 9/10

I spotted a van in Brum over the weekend with 5 (FIVE) mounted across the front of the roof/top of the windscreen area.

Might chuck a few pints over the neighbours fence when we score.

gas or charcoal?

Pfff. Gas, I'm not a real man.

Charcoal's easier to chuck over the fence

They're all quite smart, not quite so keen on the away kit idea. Also a bit odd that they've all got different collars.

Can't be doing with them coming up again. What is the point in it? I know. I really want Shrews to come up so I can do a weekend round there and Telford/Ironbridge Decent town Telford. Having been raised in a town in Shropshire from the age of 4 not far from Telford, I know the place pretty well. I...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Went to Sampdoria v Napoli on Sunday as previously documented in this thread. Sounds fantastic. Did you feel at all intimidated being (presumably) English? Did anyone notice you were and 'welcome' you, so to speak? Not really no (to feeling intimidated). We were sat in a bar before the game having ...
