Re: The Playoffs 2018/19 edition

I put Tranmere to start with, then went back and edited to MK Dons. Not sure why I did that. I'll stick with Tranmere

Re: Champions League & Europa League 2018/19

Arsenal have already been to Baku once this season, earlier in the competition.

The Playoffs 2018/19 edition

Predicted winners: Villa Charlton MK Dons Watched a pretty good game between Newport and Mansfield last night. Newport had a couple of clear chances but were denied by a couple of fantastic saves by the Mansfield keeper. Newport were fortuitous to get a penalty late on for their equaliser (which was...

Re: Champions League & Europa League 2018/19

Has any one country provided all 4 finalists for the two main European club competitions before? Or 4 out of 6 in the "good old days" of the Cup Winners Cup?

Re: Ups & Downs 2018/19

Would love to see Solihull come up through the playoffs, shame (Jobi aside) they didn't quite manage to get automatic. They're massively punching above their weight, they've got a tiny ground and will probably have the squad broken up over the summer if they don't make it. I went a couple of times ...

F365 11:17: Bacuna to become a Bluebird

Neil Warnock is getting busy. Ex-Villa utility man Leandro Bacuna is in Cardiff for a medial ahead of a £3.5million move from Reading.

Who F365's source is, I don't know, they don't say

CONFIMRED - Matt Miazga

Reading have signed USA international Matt Miazga on loan from Chelsea for the rest of the season. The 23-year-old former New York Red Bulls defender becomes the fifth loan signing of the January transfer window after the arrivals of Ovie Ejaria, Lewis Baker, Nelson Oliveira and Emiliano Martinez. M...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

I don't mind Portman Road. I think if the tickets were 10 quid cheaper then many of the grumbles about the ground wouldn't be so vociferous, 35 quid is far too much for what it is.

Re: BFTG Birmingham (A)

I was there (nice local one for me). First half I thought we were ok to decent. The game seemed to be played at two paces though which I found odd, either walking pace or all out frantic, but at least when we did lift the tempo we carried a threat. However, we were guilty of quite a few sloppy passe...

3points I cannot remember one occasion where Jaakkola kicked the ball long.

He did a few times tbf, generally in the direction of Bod. Agree with most of the rest of your post.

Re: Clement's wishy-washy starting 11's...

Arguably, it isn't the "wishy washy" starting 11s that seem to be the problem, more the second half of matches. Generally we've not been too bad in the first half of games (and again last night).

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

When is Mark Hughes getting sacked? Great player, terrible manager! He's got worse, but that might be a product of the teams he's having to manage, but he wasn't always a poor manager. He did well for Wales, Blackburn and, to an extent, City before things have certainly gone downhill. I think he di...

Re: BFTG West Brom

I've not seen the game or highlights yet, but just wanted to offer some thoughts. From what I've seen so far Walker looks a solid keeper, made some good saves at Preston, and again in the QPR defeat, and yet from the comments on here you'd think he was Peter van der Kwaak reincarnated. I'm a keeper ...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

The problems are all to do with behind the scenes stuff and three if not four managers squads packaged, with a promotion or bust mentality that starts at the top. Even if Bruce had got promoted, the other issues would have remained. Anything sound familiar about this... (although maybe not quite pr...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Villa supporting colleagues of mine's main gripe with Bruce is that they've got one fit centre back in James Chester, and have been fudging it by playing Jedinak in as a makeshift centre back pretty much the whole season. The squad on Tuesday night had just Chester (who got sent off and now misses t...

Re: BFT - I don’t know what to call it

Not even Coppell would be able to motivate this lot. Coppell's answer is to recruit the right people in the first place. The right characters. People that have something to prove. I don't think any manager, Guardiola included would be able to get more from this group than Clement. The job that Clem...

Re: BFTG - Preston

I was also at Deepdale on Saturday. It was nice to come away with the 3 points, and also have a little bit of fortune going our way, but equally working hard to make the most of the good fortune and not being behind when perhaps we should have been at half time. I like the look of Walker, made some ...
