Re: Team for Sheff U (A)

Wouldn't disagree with Popa in for McCleary. Let him run his nuts off for 60-65 minutes. Or perhaps bring in Clement, play him behind JDB and put Aluko on the right wing

Re: MATCHWATCH : Leeds United (a) sponsored by a deep dark realisation that this way creeps

does that mean McShane is now injured? Evans not on the bench also

Looks like a 4-2-3-1 (maybe??) or a 4-4-1-1 or even 4-4-2

Re: Maidenhead United

So far, so good for Maidenhead. It looks like teams can make a fist of it in the Conference Premier, even being semi-pro - as proven by Bromley, Maidstone and Barrow in recent time. If they can keep it up at this rate, how long would it be before they go pro and think about stadium development/rebu...

Re: Gunter

They've been uninspiring and ground out, but the majority of England's wins have been verging on inevitable. Nothing flukey about them. Basically us of last season I thought the same when watching England play Lithuania. Lots of ball but very little penetration or threat in the final third. But gro...

Re: Stam's comments - only a matter of time now

TF - hasn't he already taken punts in the likes of Mendes and Meite? And they haven't worked. Let's not forget most fans were pretty critical of signing Kermogant at the time and he didn't pull up any trees pre-Christmas last season either.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Norwich City (h) sponsored by going for the "lack of 1st half goals" record

Beerens was absolutely dire. Didn't see the point of the Blackett substitution. Thought he did ok for most of the game. Usual couple of sloppy moments but at least he looked like he cared. It worked against Hull when he was replaced by Obita. But Obita is a highly capable and experienced wing back,...

C'mon! Stam will probably take off a defender or two and put on a more attacking option

Too lightweight to act as the defensive cover.

But we had three centre backs behind him and here wasn't much coming from Hull, and we were losing. He would have been adequate for 20-25 minutes in the context of yesterday's game.

Re: BFTG - Hull

I just thought yesterday that Stam could have made the tactical change without bringing on Ilori. Dropped Joey into left centre back and then push Gunter and Obita further up the field, leaving Kelly as the deepest of the midfielders. One of the main problems yesterday was that he could have subbed ...

Re: Under 23"s Supposedly not ready for first team football.

I believe it costs closer to £4m a year though there's incentives which reduces the net cost to about £3m, but the cash goes out first. I think a Cat 3 is around a million a year. Blackburn, I believe, have or will soon downgrade from a Cat 1 to a Cat 3 to reduce their overall running costs. Their t...

Re: BFTG Swansea

FWIW I thought we were dreadful in the second half. First 15-20 minutes I really enjoyed and thought it was going to be an end to end cracker of a game. Then they had a couple of chances on the break (and I think we were lucky the lino gave a foul on Obita as I thought it wasn't and probably off-set...

Looks like Smith and Rinomhota will be in the squad tonight as they weren't included in the U23 squad last night. Loader, Barrett and Andresson all played

Re: Team for Swansea.

Why would Rinomhota (note spelling!) get a game ahead of Gunter - they're not the same position? Rinomhota is a midfielder. If Watson wasn't injured, I reckon he'd start ahead of Gunter for this one. Bacuna might be a shout though. Who plays RB for the U23s? Because he had a good game at right back...

Re: Under 23"s Supposedly not ready for first team football.

I remember saying on a thread about three years ago that I couldn't decide whether Kuhl was going to have a stellar career or disappear into non league football. Well both my options were wrong! There aren't many teams who play that water carrier type role where everything goes through the playmaker...
