Re: The Local Journo Thread

Honestly think that anyone with a little common sense could do better than what passes for journalism these days. Media either sensationalises a load a trivial nothingness or fails to give balanced arguments for what is being reported.

Re: Tim Dellor

In most other areas of the country the local radio football presenters are close to their clubs and are usually up-to-date on injuries etc. ahead of a game. Whether it is the fault of the club or the fault of BBCRB presenters I don't know but yesterday they were behaving like us uninformed fans in ...

Re: Injury & Suspension Watch : 2018/2019

Is Popa actually still in the squad - I'd somehow assumed he'd been loaned out or sold ... Injured Harriott on verge of playing. Finally competition for the wide positions. Long overdue. And a not quite match fit McCleary looked much better and offered more than Aluko. But then his game is much mor...

Re: Ex Players

Jordan Mutch scored a late equaliser in the penultimate round of MLS fixtures, playing for Vancouver Whitecaps against LAFC. It finished 2-2. While it was a belter from 25 yards, to be honest he has been as forgettable during his loan spell over here as he was for us. Very much a rotation player an...

Re: BFTG Millwall Home

I'm too latte to post a full BFTG but I want to focus on something I really liked during the game. The tactical switch. As it was happening I thought "that is exactly the right thing to do, well done Clement" A switch to a back 3 was the perfect thing to do at that point in the game as no...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Millwall (h) sponsored by Terry Hurlock

Thought Jaakkola did more to earn the no 1 shirt than either of the other two so far this season. Personally don’t think he’s a bad keeper, he’s a good shot stopper and also we know can save a penalty or three. Think his distribution needs work but generally I don’t think he’s any worse that Mannone...

Re: The Football League Thread 18/19

Macclesfield equal the British League record of 36 games in the league without a win matching Derbys record from their abject 07-08 season. They haven't won a league game since 2012. Impressive record. Their last football league win was 31 December 2011 at home to Port Vale (and that was their firs...

Moore booked Bod should be fit for Brum though may only be on the bench Walker has a knee injury while Mannone has been back in training but still feels his ankle isn’t quite right Edwards, Popa, Eza, Obita, Richards, O’Shea are injured while Pelle is still missing presumed injured. O’Shea should be...

Team Jaakkola Yiadom Moore Bacuna Baldock Swift McCleary Ilori Meite Blackett Kelly Subs Legg Gunter Aluko Meyler Sims McNulty Rinomhota Surely can't have both keepers crocked now can we??? Barrow also? How much of this selection is injury driven and how much is desperation? Swift wide left and midf...

Re: The Non - League thread

That’s nothing.... My son plays for Datchet in Div 3 of the Thames Valley League. Last week they played Langley Lions who had won their 1st 3 games 23-0, 7-0 and 4-0! We drew 2-2 and it was a far better spectacle than any game I’ve seen that Reading have been involved in during the last coup...

Re: [POLL] Is Aluko really that poor?

Obviously Aluko is a good player, you don’t get to hang around this level of football without being able to play, it’s just that, for whatever reason, Aluko has continuously failed to perform at that level for Reading. I think a lot of it is down to the fact he is your proverbial “confidence” player...

FT Boro 2 Royals 3 Another good result. This is where hope must be for the future. Keep up the good work, lads! You’d hope so. U23s up to 3rd again and couple of lads there looking pretty strong Now in my opinion U21/3 teams should be scrapped and replaced with proper old fashioned reserve teams (w...

Re: Rumour - Phil Parkinson

But who has that would be available? . Well to use Horse Racing parlance, Parkinson is 'Exposed' - he's had plenty of experience around this level and his limit is well known. If you want to replace Clement, which I dont particularly (not yet) you could choose somebody who is 'unexposed' if you can...

I know it’s about as likely as Reading getting to the PL and staying there for several seasons but hoping one day that those sides UEFA/FIFA try desperately to keep apart all qualify for a finals tournament and have to play each other.

On this day in 2003 we beat Preston 3-2 at home. Nicky Forster scoring a late winner! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/3187032.stm One of the great matches at the Madejski. Preston were flying and filled the away end with a noisy contingent. Surprised to see the attendance was onl...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Millwall (h) sponsored by Terry Hurlock

According to the manager at today's press conference Baldock and Bodvarsson are not likely to make the Millwall game but should make Birmingham. And O'Shea is hopeful he'll be ready for Swansea next week. Apparently Sims is pushing Aluko for a start (I'd never have expected that - but I guess that's...
