Re: Our rightful place?....

In 2015, our average final league position over the previous 50 years was 44th (below even Oxford  ). So on that basis, historically, we 'belong' in the third division. But no team 'belongs' any division - they have to win the right, repeatedly, as others have said. Next, let's discuss whether ...

Re: Who do you want to miss out on the play offs?

Leeds, no question. It doesn't matter who we play (provided we actually make it) - we can beat any of those on our day. And if it isn't Reading, I would applaud any of the others getting to the PL. But Leeds, with their despicable fans, players and manager, in with a chance of winning the playoffs? ...

Re: Play off dates

The home leg is bound to be on the 17th May as that's the only date around then I can't make. I've already made it certain that we'll be in the final as I'm going to the Isle of Man on the Saturday of the bank holiday weekend. Thanks wingnut, that was very considerate of you. We also ought to check...

Re: Matchwatch : Blackburn Rovers (h) sponsored by seven games to go

"Law of averages" suggests we won't win our three winnable final home games.
This could be the one that doesn't go to plan.
Added to which, we turn to jelly when we're "looking to extend our excellent run of home form".
1-1. McCleary.

Match ticket: £33 Petrol: £40 Beer: £8 Watching your team defend for their lives blocking and saving shot after shot and then scoring by practically walking it into the goal with the opposition keeper in the other half, against a playoff rival after losing 3 away games in a row without scoring: Pri...

Re: If RFC don't make the play-offs....

I will pretend I'm not bothered, while churning with complex emotions inside. I will say the Premier League is just a circus anyway, it's all about money, and I prefer lots of Tuesday games anyway. I will then paradoxically say that ours is a long-term project and we are very much a work in progress...

Re: Sheffield Wednesday (A) Predictions

Got to say I'm not at all confident about this one - reckon it's going to get worse before it even starts to get better. 4-0 Wednesday, with Jordan Rhodes suddenly reminding everyone why Reading fans were champing at the bit to get him, for several seasons.

Dearly hoping to be proved wrong.

Re: Back from listening to the game v preston on the radio

It's funny as last night I was thinking that it doesn't feel like it's a good season or that we are doing really well. By that I mean, in other seasons I was "buzzing" (hate that word) all the time and it was exciting looking forward to the next game. Now I'm just a bit :| about the whole...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Newcastle United (h) sponsored by damage limitation

I would be amazed if Newcastle win 3 away games on the spin to promotion opposition. Yet stranger things have happened. Yes - like us beating West Ham, Brighton, and Southampton in successive away games in 2012... (OK, they weren't strictly on the spin, and Brighton were just outside the playoffs -...

Strange to think that there are Reading fans who don't remember the 106 team... but of course there must be. No matter how long you've supported Reading (me - since 1969) or how old you are, that team and that season was the most exhilarating we've ever known. Bobby Convey and the rest of the guys c...

McCleary didn't always do it IIRC. Gunter is clearly the style guru.

He was fantastic for Wales. It isn't just a Stam thing - he has mainly underperformed for Reading. Maybe having GMac there gets in his way.
