Re: Shane Long

72 bus Rather have Shane long than Oliviera, much more of a team player

So would I - but less likely to happen.

Rumours in Ireland that he's a Sheffield United target if they get promoted. He has a year left on his Southampton contract

Re: Injury & Suspension Watch : 2018/2019

Well I'm glad we're already safe! Oliveira - out for rest of season and has gone back to Norwich. There's a deal in place with Norwich, but sounds like not acheivable unless we sell somebody. Meite - out for rest of season Blackett - hamstring injury, likely out for rest of season O Shea - running ...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

I'd like to see a final chance for Kelly as a squad option. He should fit Gomes' style and its easy to forget his breakout season in 16/17. Admittedly he's been very disappointed since then and his most recent performance at Sheff Utd was an abomination, but Gomes has proved an excellent motivator/...

Re: Rival Watch

Norwich always seem to have nice kits so they are more appealing on the eye for me. Of all the reasons to support a team, that's very low down on my list. But each to their own. Having sustained a prolonged and probably irrational loathing of Colin over many years, any club who has ever employed hi...

Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

Really impressed with 1871 over the last couple of games. Its made a huge difference Not going to be joining in anytime soon mind you, more than happy sitting with my kids in the ED. The atmosphere in there has been pretty good recently, and those clapper things do the job. Thoroughly enjoyable on ...

Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

Yeah, it is weird. Some people obviously enjoy the atmosphere but expect others to do all the work to make it. Against Brentford I was stood next to a middle-aged woman who'd come with (I presume) her 20s son. She was regularly joining in and stood all game. That was great to see as it's not really...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

When Tyler Blackett signed from Man Utd every single media outlet stated a 3 year deal- the only mention of 4 years i can find is on the Reading FC website( not on him signing- i can`t find that). I suppose all the media outlets could have got the info from the wrong source but it would be nice to ...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

Not squad - but that guy that Gomes brought in for technical analysis for the last 8 games - be very happy to see him signing on for next year.

I think since he came in. we've been tweaking formations and tactics to match the opposition - and surely he's played a part in that.

Re: End of season contracts

Isn’t O’Shea the ideal one for the O’Shea role ? When he came it was said it would be a one year playing deal then a move into coaching. If you have acentre back with 100 plus caps On the staff do you need another old pro hanging around as well ? Also not sure McShane is the answer as "charact...

Re: Next Season.

Harriott was signed in Aug 2016 on a "three year deal" so I think that he'll be out of contact in June - https://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/2016/august/royals-sign-young-winger-callum-harriott/ Popa was only signed in Jan 2017 but I am not sure how long a deal he was given Sam Smith is on a...

Re: Gomes after 10 League Games

That seems to be quite a revisionist assessment of the past few seasons. I remember plenty of people giving Clement credit for gritty wins against Preston and QPR. I also remember him getting very little criticism for the abject performances against Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich, certainly nowher...

Re: The League of 4

And realistically then there were 2 - Millwall and Rotherham - (though for the sake of professionalism Gomes et al are rightly still talking of having a job to do at ‘boro and maybe Birmingham) All Reading have to do is ensure they a) don’t lose both remaining games and b) don’t throw away a 13 goa...

Re: BFTG - Baggies

Thought Loader did ok. Best I’ve seen him for a while. He just needs to get stronger - which he will. I agree, which is what made the reaction that bit more disappointing. Where did you hear this reaction ? In the ED there was nothing negative beyond the disappointment you’d expect when a player mi...

Re: End of season contracts

What role is McShane worth keeping for ?he is a nice bloke, does a lot of great community work but his days as a championship centre back are behind him. There will be plenty of seasoned pros available if we want some experience in the squad and I would agree we need a reliable partner for Moore wh...

Re: Which of the loanees would you prioritise?

I said he got a new contract under Gourlay Which part of that is wrong? Where did I say Gourlay wasn’t nominally the CEO at the time ? Your comment was misleading though. Owners might say "Don't Sell" but it's still the DoF or CEO who actually signs off on the details of the contract. The...

Re: The League of 4

It’s a unique madness of football fans that they see a rival who has won 8 of 43 games and 1 of the last 5 and for some reason decides they could win 2 out of 3 all of a sudden I would normally agree with you (and I don't think it will happen) but take a look at 2nd from bottom Fulham who have now ...

Re: Injury & Suspension Watch : 2018/2019

Right now I'm unsure of Ejaria, in that role anyway. Still, he's made strides in recent weeks. I suppose the next 4 games are big for him, as I suppose they are for many. Quite a few will want to impress and prove they belong, etc. We keep saying we won't be able to sign all 5 (actually 6), and the...

Fully agree with the opening post. Let’s hope the club that Simon loved concur and we can applaud him on Monday. Think we are better off waiting until his family tell us what they want tbf. I know we all mean well but it is ultimately up to them. Maybe Simon said what he'd like to happen to the clu...

If you haven't listened to @elmparkroyals interview with Liam Moore which he posted today, it is well worth a listen. Loads of interesting stuff in there. How do we listen to this? https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/elm-park-royals/id1224296199 or https://soundcloud.com/elmparkroyals/liam-moore-...
