Re: Who could replace Stam?

I agree - it’s unlikely, but still no harm in asking

Not sure he’ll walk into another job in the prem though. Don’t think his spell at Watford will have won him too many admirers - trying to move to Everton and 10 without a win or whatever it is

Worth asking the question isn’t it? Wouldn’t have to uproot and someone who you could invest some time in

Unlikely but then so was Jaap Stam 2 years ago

Re: BFTG Brentford

TBH not sure it makes much difference if the owners are there

Gourlay runs the football side of things - it’s his decision and in his hands. If he recommended to the owners they bin Stam, it will happen

Re: In or Out? New poll.

I don’t see much point over analysing On paper we’re probably a mid table champ club. I have no real issue with being that. We can talk about losing our soul or whatever but that is pretty much the way for all clubs, that’s how football has developed rightly or wrongly If the performances on the pit...

Re: In or Out? New poll.

The squad is plenty good enough to be mid table at least. The management all season pretty much has been terrible. Even those of us who wanted Stam to be given a good run were saying that. It’s too long now - we are only going one way with him and his team in charge Should go now and put the chap fr...

Re: BFTG Brentford

Highlights did make it look like a handball at the end. Yann’s Header would have been straight into Bods path otherwise

Re: BFTG Brentford

Having an improved striker would make little difference to be honest if we play as we have been doing so. It’s not like Bod missed a stackful of chances today. He did very well off pitiful service Yann looks shot, but Stam has played him week in and out whilst Bod has been on the bench. You could ha...

Actually thought he made some good saves - highlights bear that out

Some of his passing was poor though

Re: BFTG Brentford

Even if Stam is sacked who can turn that shower round? Despite all the comings and goings of the past 18 months. We are still left with an unbalanced squad. No one ever mentions the director of football. Been quiet for a while. Yet in September was pronouncing. "Brian Tevreden says Reading FC ...

On Tuesday week we'll know for sure.

Just been beaten by Burton and Brum, so on current form I’d certainly say we are the worst side in the division

Re: BFTG Brentford

Thing is, you watch the teams in the upper half of the division, and they are all clearly beatable. We actually looked more like getting points from today than we did Birmingham

Not that with the current set up I can see us beating anyone. Gourlay needs to do what is paid for and bin Stam I’m afraid.

Re: BFTG Brentford

Yann was dreadful as mentioned but what on Earth was going on when Moore get sent to CF (ineptly) whilst Yann played CM (ineptly)? Smacks of just making it up as we go along One thing not mentioned was the fans were actually pretty supportive. No boos and fans and players clapped each other at the e...

Re: BFTG Brentford

We have to win one of the next 2 or else I’m pretty certain we’ll drop Anyway to today’s game. We looked low in quality and confidence. The midfield lacked creativity and whilst Bod and Barrow tried hard, nothing clear cut was really created The defence looked better in shape but the impressive Vibe...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Brentford (h) sponsored by still no Saturday home win this season

Will wait for a btfg thread for more detail but quick summary: We were slightly better than recently, mainly due to Bod at least giving an outlet. Could and maybe should have got the drae, showed a bit of spirit, hit the bar, couple of good saves from Bentley and think should have had a pen But thin...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Brentford (h) sponsored by still no Saturday home win this season

Not especially happy with the team. Aluko should be nowhere near and the midfield doesn’t fill me with joy

Where has Bacuna got to this time? About the third time he has disappeared unexpectedly
