Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Team was quite interesting

Mendes played an hour, Loader, Smith and Watson the whole game I think

Not sure why Mendes is playing unless we think he can be used on saturday or we are thinking about a new contract. Good to see Watson play the whole game

Re: Anyone Nervous?

I can't recall a worst Reading team in many years that I'd want to go into a big game and give their all for the shirt. Gunny, I agree, and I was thinking the same the other day. There's really very few you can bank on. Even Barrow hasn't really done a huge amount since Clement arrived. Of course, ...

Re: Saturday

I think very few of us think we'll go down. However, we are trying to convince ourselves its a possibility to give some excitement to an utterly dismal season

That's not right

nope fair enough. Lost track of the permutations for a min, but basically saying we can't go into the Ipswich game thinking anything other than 3 points is good enough.

Re: Relegation Watch

Just for the record, if Barnsley don't get more than 1 point from their next two fixtures Reading will be safe even if they lose both of their final games (presuming Bolton don't manage a 10-15 goal win v Forest). this is true - same is if Bolton lose on Saturday we are safe no matter what. But obv...

Re: Saturday

"It's like Wigan. But instead of friendly locals it's all people who complain at supermarkets" quite liked that comment about people who complain at Supermarkets (mainly Waitrose). Though Reading obviously isn't like Wigan. At all. tbf, most of those points are difficult to argue too much ...

Re: Building for next season

It was never going to be pretty or a fairy tale turnaround. The problem was never as simple as just Stam's shit. And the really hard job is sorting out this oxf*rd disastrously built squad. Again, which isn't just Stam's fault. It's Clarke, McDermott, Tevreden, Gourlay, Howe and Hammond's too. Yep ...

no, and why would you suggest I did?

It obv had no bearing on the result. Still not a bright thing to do.

File under being upset when a former player celebrates scoring a goal against you Yet another reason to fold the internet Yeah, player in celebrating happier times and having fondness for a previous club shocker. but a couple of hours after a 4-0 home defeat, and when your previous club is a relega...

Agree. Be nice to just hear a bit of a praise for a Reading side doing very well without the unnecessary sniping

Re: BFTG Wednesday (a)

Agree with that NCS, but the objective for Clement at the stage he was brought in was to keep us up - and only that. A win on Saturday achieves his objective Obvs things have to change in the summer and I don’t just mean sell a load of players and bring another new load in. The mentality, coaching, ...

Re: BFTG Wednesday (a)

Said kn another thread - if we beat Ipswich (granted a huge If) then Clement has done a very good job. 3 wins and a draw in 7 pretty tough games would be a very good return no matter how they were achieved The defence has definitely improved - could not imagine we’d have kept clean sheets against QP...

Re: Building for next season

If (and it’s a very big if) we beat Ipswich next week, that would be 10 points from 4 home games and job well done by Clement He inherited a shit show and I think everyone realise that. Away performance last have been poor but he had one goal for this season and that was to keep us up I’d actually a...

Blacketts sending off was utterly ridiculous

Stupid thing to do but

A) it was a tap
B) the Sheff Weds lump did exactly the same thing to him about 2 secs before

Bit of common sense from Blackett and the Ref sadly lacking

Re: Relegation Watch

Next Saturday really is the biggie for us. I’m presuming we’ll lose to Cardiff whatever happens before

If we could still go down this time next week (realistically not with a 15 goal swing etc) then there’s a good chance we will do

Yep though Barnsley could overtake us if we only get one more point. So need 3 really

Barnsley wouldnt matter because neither Burton or Bolton could.
