Re: BFTG Millwall

Really pleased we got through actually Is a great competition in terms of allowing some of the fringe players to get game time and see the likes of Rinomhota get a few starts etc Stam managing McCleary well I think - in the meantime Popa seems to be doing a decent job covering Jaap shouldn't let Qui...

Sounds a reasonable game though. Still nobody at all wants e/t in these games

Re: Millwall (H) Cup Predictions

Reckon it might be very dull actually

Hoping MCleary, Beerens and Mendes get in some decent game time

1-0 to us. Beerens.

Re: The Stam passing game

I like the main gist of your post and generally agree I'd argue a little on the plan b side. I agree it's not just a case of suddenly switching game plan and all will change. But whatever we are doing when we go a goal down away we need to look at. I'd like to see us make changes to the shape a litt...

Re: Back From The Match - Preston

Same number of points and better goal difference than after 4 games last season and same points and slightly better goal difference to the corresponding 4 fixtures last season. I think it's a bit early to be pissing our knickers and writing off the season just yet. Realistically it's been a fairly ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (a) sponsored by the first long trek of the season

I have a horrible feeling that the optimism generated after Tuesday will come flying back to earth with a rather large bump! We are Reading after all. Its what we do. Who wants the lottery numbers  Well I suppose being optimistic, the one thing we seem to excel at under Stam is coming ba...

Re: The Stam passing game

I think the one real criticism of Stam from me is the away plan B If we go a goal down we rarely seem likely to come back - too many games ending in lame narrow defeats (i.e. Today) or thrashings I suppose things may be different when you can chuck on a Yann/Mendes and go long for example, but just ...

Re: Back From The Match - Preston

Just got in. Do I not like orange. First time I've seen us this year. My thoughts are 1) Barrow is quality. 2) Vito can't pass but can shot stop (AAH all over again) 3) Did Clement even play? 4) Would the real Mendes please stand up 5) Tyler Blackett isn't a left back. 6) Our defence is still made ...

Re: Back From The Match - Preston

Genuine Question: Are we getting a ridiculous amount of injuries, not just this season but in general? I'm thinking it is every team that just gets injuries like this but the paranoid side of me was thinking it was a bit weird and OTT Yeah injuries have massively hurt us so far imo What's going on ...

Re: The Stam passing game

I think a lot of frustration builds from the fact we can go to playing well one game and shit the next and there isn't that continuous match on match improvement which id like to see. Point proved tonight. Yep. Though in some sort of mitigation our entire midfield was different after 30 mins. But t...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (a) sponsored by the first long trek of the season

Some of the other results around were at more interesting tbh Cardiff beating wolves a biggie, plus Ipswich winning/Brentford losing again (despite stats wise Brentford battering them). Boro losing to forest Fulham still to win, and Villa comfortably beating Norwich Difficult to call the division th...

Re: BFTG - Villa

Ok. But I'm saying they have absolutely zero input into any tactics at that level. Stam is in no need to bow down and change what he does because the owners are there. He has just signed a 2 year contract and could get another job easily. On the pitch what he says goes. Anyway dull argument. Not goi...

B) we've got our annual battering by Preston out f the way early doors

Re: The Stam passing game

Did we come within 2 kicks of promotion last year or did I imagine that? Whether it's to everyones taste or not, it brought us success last year If it floats ya boat that's great ! That's not what I said though. It brought success, whether it was a joy to watch or not is a different matter Can't re...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (a) sponsored by the first long trek of the season

Basically the midfield that did so well against villa all off the field after 30mins or so

Joey's fitness is becoming a big issue. He was instrumental in the game against villa but can't seem to string 2 games together
