Re: World Cup Punditry

I think the line-up for the England game of Lineker, Shearer, Lampard and Ferdinand was pretty darn strong. Maybe swap in Dixon for Shearer, and add Aluko and you've have the best line-up, albeit it would leave Gary without anyone to wink at about goalscoring feats. I thought Ferdinand was a mumbli...

Re: World Cup 2018

Interesting* point on VAR made on the 5 live commentary just now. Everytime the ref is called over to the TV to check for a pen, he has given it. Would take a brave ref to view the footage and disagree I guess. May well save time just to give the pen when VAR give the nod. Fair point to make I gues...

Re: CONFIRMED: Novakovich to stay on loan nxt season, this time at Fotuna Sittard

Wish everyone would stop spunking themselves over Nova without really seeing him. Most of his goals were tap ins and penalties in a horrifically mediocre league. After seeing lots of mediocre signings be a shit waste of money, and given our dearth of options and poor recent history in signing strike...

Want to see him get a chance get deserves here, but at least he's extended and it's a higher level to test himself at.

Re: England’s World Cup Finals 2018

Your debate is exactly why VAR shouldn't be used in penalty situations. Because some people are stupid? For an example of why it shouldn't be used, it's Lovren's 'foul' in the Spurs (?) game last season. There's nothing to debate on the France penalty. Considering you are literally the only person ...

Re: England’s World Cup Finals 2018

I feel like the refs are already not giving some decisions because they think the VAR lads will do it for them. The Peru and Sweden pens should have been given on-field by any half decent ref but they seem to be heading down the road where umpires in cricket never seem to give a run out any more, t...

Re: England’s World Cup Finals 2018

Still not convinced by VAR or that it will ever "be used properly" So far we've 'gained' 2-3 pens that were slight enough that had they not been given the teams would have been miffed but not outraged (i.e. they weren't outrageous howlers from the ref not to give them) .....and we've had ...

Re: England’s World Cup Finals 2018

Got up at 2am to watch the game, think I saw about 2 mins of it. Just watching the highlights, 2 major things stood out. Firstly how the hell were the 2 rugby tackles on Kane not given as penalties and secondly wtf was the Tunisian keeper doing for Kane's 2nd. Literally stood and watched it go past...

Why you not a fan then?

Ahhh, the primary school "I know you are but what am I? " routine. Cutting edge wit.

Re: World Cup Punditry

Lawrensen and Phil Neville are an utter abomination. Neville in particular talks so much bollocks and seems incapable of saying anything that isn't in a one note forced tone of faked excitement. I hate him now more than I hated him for ruining us against Romania the stupid pcunty pcunt. Evra, Bilic ...

Re: Ingerlund Vs Tunisia

Very good start with terrible finishing. Lacklustre but persistent display with occasional quality. Awful officiating mostly against England. Hampered by Alli getting a knock and Lingard and Sterling both poncing about the pitch trying too hard and having no end product. Quite slow through midfield ...

Re: Ingerlund Vs Tunisia

I'd just like a couple of decent performances and competitive in a knockout game. Qers would be good. Semis electric.

Depending on the XI it genuinely feels like the squad has the attitude to perform with zero expectation of actual success.

Re: Ingerlund Vs Tunisia

After all the drama of the past few days, and the apparent difficulty that the 'big' teams are having at putting away the minnows, I think you'd have to be delighted to come away from this evening with an underwhelming 1-0 win. Agreed. Even before the last few results we needed to be realistic abou...

He had some injury problems and jumped at fame and fortune too soon.

If he was fully fit and showing good attitude I'd have him in over Evans, Berg or Edwards, maybe Kelly or good old hammy-Swift too.

Re: World Cup 2018

Clear push in the back for Swiss equaliser Why no VAR? VAR and ref obviously don't think it was had enough to be a proper foul I've got sympathy with that view, if you blew up for everything like that at a set piece, they'd all end in either a penalty or a free kick to the defending side. It was pr...
