Re: England - the future....

What we need is some kind of goalkeeping expert on HNA? that can tell us for certain who is and who isn't the best. For what it's worth, my opinion is that Pickford isn't much different to Butland in most regards (I'd generally have had Butland ahead of Pickford in goalkeeping terms, shot stopping,...

Re: England - the future....

You genuinely don't see Pickford as head and shoulders above the rest? Thought it was a universally accepted thing. Would agree that he is the best of the group available though but I'm just not quite convinced he's the final answer at the moment. What we need is some kind of goalkeeping expert on ...

Re: England - the future....

Great work from Southgate and the team. An amazing result to win in Spain A word on Pickford though. 2 of our goals came from his well placed kicks but ... What was the dive before any shot came in? Somehow he ended up saving the shot that followed! And the needless corner? And the dithering that l...

Re: England - the future....

It's one result against truly top level opponents so we shouldn't get too carried away but what was pleasing was that you can see there are plenty of areas to improve on and that this side is young enough to develop in those areas. Cautiously optimistic about the future. I think special mention sho...

Lovely finish from Raheem Sterling. After a shaky start England are settling down and looking fairly decent.

Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

By the way, not heard the Bill Oddie chant for about 18 months - perhaps there's a connection between singing that regularly and getting results in the pitch. Club 1871 should give it a go, a whole 90 minutes to make up for it's absence. Confirmed Manchester United supporter Bill Oddie? I remember ...

Re: Clement

No, Snowflake Royal is correct. You can't be out the game that long, whether you're Roy Keane or not. Was he even that good as a manager? I certainly remember Ipswich being very, very average under him and as previously discussed, that Sunderland side were a cut above anyway without much of his doi...

International breaks really are crap aren't they? Utterly pointless this last one and seemingly going on for ever Only hope it has at least broken up that little bit of momentum Millwall were getting Got another of those outplayed and out thought by a more up for it opponent this one. One to put al...

Re: Nations League & Friendlies

Italy getting a last second winner away at Poland. Italy look like they are on their way back, Mancini getting their shit in order. On their way back? A last minute win over Poland on the back of a 1-1 draw with Ukraine. Not sure I'd see that a great progression, it certainly wouldn't be sold that ...

Re: England - the future....

Very difficult to judge our performance on Friday in the false atmosphere but regrettably once again Rashford has shown that he is not the finisher that we all thought he was going to be-what a couple of terrible misses. I have said for a while that I don't think he's as good as the hype...you lot ...

If we are looking for someone to steady the ship and reintroduce a bit pf passion and loyalty to the club then Parky is your man. Taking the club forward to the upper reaches of the LCh and one day beyond, then I would doubt he is the man for that. However, at present, we just need stability, so fo...

Group stages are paired Rome/Baku is probably the worst Copenhagen/St Petersburg Amsterdam/Bucherest London/Glasgow is the most convenient Dublin/Bilbao Budapest/Munich As a one off, I think its a grand idea. Would not want every Euros to be like this. Wembley has a R16 game as well btw. UEFA have ...

Re: England - the future....

I thought England were pretty decent on Friday. We could easily have had a 2-0 win had Rashford not been so wasteful. Seen a few negative assessments in the press but I was happy with our display. Have to agree with this - but then it seems the press are taking a while to catch up with (in general)...

Pep, Mourinho, Klopp, Ranieri, Van Gaal and Ancelotti all seem a bit nuts and are arguably amongst the most successful active managers right now. Simeone aswell. Warnock. Many more. I think most manager are nuts. How did I forget Simeone? He's probably the most nuts of all! I'd argue Alex Ferguson ...
