Re: England - the future....

Rashford was excellent last night. I think people tend to forget he's still only 20 (just). The average age of England's front 3 was under 23. All three of them seem like they've been around for ages but really there's still plenty of scope for development. Worth bearing in mind when you consider ho...

Re: Gourlay

Indeed, you are very correct, his CV is impeccable...but...the main difference is that Man United and Chelsea have money thrown at them in sponsorship deals, its "take your pick" there. With us we have to go out there and get people interested in this club to sponsor it, and in that depar...

Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

Brought in Steve Bruce, Jim Leighton and Brian McLair in the first season. Giggs and Sharpe didn't 'emerge' until early 90's Think the poor league finishes were as much down to injuries to key players as anything else I was thinking more of Mark Robins and Lee Martin prior to Giggs/Sharpe. Injuries...

Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

united had finished 3rd or 4th the preceding 6 seasons before Fergie took over...(I know they were in 21st at that time..Nov) They finished 11th that season and second the next which makes me think he didn't inherit a poor squad. The next two seasons were poor, finishing 11th and 13th. Didn't his f...

Re: Gourlay

I’d say “naive” isn’t a great glowing recommendation. It is very easy to put your trust in the wrong person. You cannot argue with Gourlay's CV either, they had no reason to think he wouldn't do a good job. Indeed, you are very correct, his CV is impeccable...but...the main difference is that Man U...

Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

Noticed that after Saturday Jose has the best winning percentage of any Man Utd manager ever (can't remember the exact figures but he's something like 0.2% ahead of Fergie) Little wonder the fans at OT have still got his back Good on Jose, bossing the League Cup and Europa League 2 seasons ago then...

Amazing how upset grown men can get just because they didn't get given comp tickets by Liam Moore for an away game.

On the plus side this thread is HNA at it's very best/worst.

Re: My first rumour report. Things not well at Reading.

Is Madejski really too poor/uninterested to buy the club back and get it on some kind of decent footing? He can't take the money with him and there's no spouse to think about. Too old and tired I'd say. He's 77 now. Spotted him yesterday nearly getting run over on Station Road as he started "r...

Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

One thing the South Stand does incontestably better than Y25/6 is maintain a chant. Particularly Blue Army. It's actually kept at a decent tempo, like it was back in the good old Elm Part days, rather than accelerated through at such a pace it's impossible to continue and just Blarmyblarmyblarmybla...

Re: BFTG - Bolton

Now that we've discussed the problems - what are the solutions? New Owners who have lots more cash to spend? - Yeah, what club wouldn't want that. Good luck getting them. Keeping firing managers until we find the right one? - Doesn't seem to work for most clubs. Do more to build up a better fan bas...

Re: Josh Sims - Confirmed?

* Aluko is not a winger. Aside from spunking too much money on him our biggest oxf*rd has been constantly playing him as one and expecting a positive outcome. What is he then. He isn't a central midfielder or striker either. Wing appears to be the place where he's best. He plays like a bad number 1...

Re: Josh Sims - Confirmed?

I’m warming to Méïté. Only turned 22 this year. Good signing by Stam, and then a good loan out. Has stuff in his locker we don’t, re. Champ. Wish he was couple inches taller. Not sure he’s a wide player, reckon Clement gives him minutes there to get him on the park. Worried he may get squeezed out ...

Re: Clement OUT!!!!

Thought Cooper was man of the match when we lost to Millwall last season. Wouldn't have blamed him if he'd walked up to Stam and laughed in his face that day. Is this the same Jake Cooper who made a mistake leading to a clear cut chance or goal in pretty much every game in the second half of 2015/1...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Ouch. Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan had agreed terms and passed a medical with Villa, only to have his head turned by a later offer from Fulham, who he will join later today. Probably means Fulham have given up on making Targett's loan deal from Southampton permanent. Or is Sessignon on the move?

Re: The generic transfer thread

In fairness West Ham was a pretty poisonous place to be last season. Arnautovich towards the end of the season aside, hardly anyone came out of the season with their reputation even remotely enhanced.

Re: Club up for sale again?

Assuming it's the current owners to whom this interest is owed then aren't they actually going to have to transfer a big chunk of those loans into shareholding or some form of investment in order to comply with FFP?

Re: The generic transfer thread

Hope Nick Pope can get himself a move away in January when he is fit. Would be awful for him to be stuck behind this waster. A 'waster'? Hart has lost form completely, but was a very able performer for England and City for years. Luckily I don't think Dyche is the sort to bollock around and unless ...

Re: Club up for sale again?

Madejski spent the best part of a decade (probably longer) trying to sell it.

There's only a certain amount of time as an owner before you realise that unless you can secure Premier League football, you're just pissing money down the drain.
