Re: New Manager

Sure. But he was also CEO during the most successful period in our club's history. You can't just cherry-pick reasons to demonstrate incompetence It was a tongue in cheek, throwaway comment (the type HNA specialises in) that I didn't realise would generate quite so much fury, it certainly wasn't me...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

A good win and a very strong performance. Some of the inter-passing was quite brilliant, not matched by the finishing, and reliable stalwarts ( a word only ever used in football or a few other sports?) in Henderson and Milner provided the drive from midfield that so many other teams lack, Reading i...

Re: Clement sacked!

Most astounding is the 'It was Gourlay's fault/Gourlay's interference' excuse! Clement was recruited by Gourlay as Gourlay's man and had previously worked with the him, so surely knew what his style was before he joined. If he knew he meddled in team matters but still chose to join, then that was h...

Re: New Manager

But that's what I mean. They might feel that the decisions made for them in the appointments of Stam and Clement were poor and might insist on a manager better known or with more experience. Sorry, you've lost me. Are you agreeing and disagreeing with me simultaneously? Yes and no... I'm suggesting...

Re: New Manager

Plenty of good options out there, Jokanovic would be a good appointment but can't see him coming here, I like Warburton too and he's probably the most realistic of the bunch. However wouldn't it be absolutely wonderful for us to go back to the 'Reading way' and get someone young and up'n'coming fro...

Re: New Manager

Anyone find it interesting that no comment has been made on who will be in charge this weekend? Anticipating a new appointment before then? Or even who is going to be doing the pre-match conference in a couple of hours! As I mentioned on another thread I wouldn't be against seeing what Scott Marsha...

Re: Clement

The statement doesn't mention who is in charge of the 1st Team in the interim so it would suggrst they pretty much know who they're getting in.

Personally wouldn't be averse to a couple of games with Scott Marshall assisted by Nigel Gibbs given the formers (edit) good work with the U-23's.

Re: Clement

Madejski's done a really good PR job for the club and especially for Clement with that interview. Clement now has something of a clean slate for the majority of his reign so far now that Gourlay has been made responsible for our recent woes. Lets hope he can make the most of it. Never one not to mi...

Re: Are we really going down this season

I look at the team now and see one that has a bright future, a good attitude generally, and are half decent to watch Clement has generally made the changes that have led that to be the case. Obviously we are a very long way from perfect, and some of his signings were poor (though someone like Meyle...

Re: Clement

I guess you never can tell given some of our recent negotiations but it would be highly unlikely to stick a "guaranteed appearances" clause in a contract. More likely the other way round, IE part of the fee for Aluko is dependant on X amount of appearances being made. We've certainly got p...

Re: FA cup 3rd round draw

Heaven forbid we should ever be in a position to reach the semi finals again and definitely never the finals of the FA Cup. Much better to bow out at some lower League Northern outpost in Round 3 than actually have a good cup run. Wouldn't want the "true supporters" wetting their knickers ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Leeds United (a) sponsored by Eric Nixon in goal

If fit I would go for Maccleary to start with Sims on the bench. Possibly. Yup. I wasn't at Wigan so I'm curious to know who played left or right out of Aluko or McCleary. I have a theory about why Clement would play Aluko ahead of Sims. It's basically because Clement doesn't want to play two out a...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Leeds United (a) sponsored by Eric Nixon in goal

Don't agree at all. Aluko has just spent half a dozen games not playing. It's just that the people who were keeping him out of the team are injured/sick or playing as striker. Managers are always conservative. Aluko clearly must have a good attitude in training. And he's experienced, so Clement pre...

Just an FYI to anyone who’s interested. The above data is from Ben Mayhew’s website https://experimental361.com/ As I feel like this should be credited somewhere. 'greed. Credit should also be given for the bloke at West Brom who persuaded James Rodriguez to play in the championship. Meite sits nic...

Re: England - the future....

Can't remember a time when I was more excited about our national team. Our games are exciting on the whole and more importantly we are actually winning games when it matters. To beat Spain away from home and to come from behind to beat Croatia are things we would never have been able to do 10-20 ye...

Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

Selling 1/2 season tickets in the area, so I guess they are here to stay. I am for it FTR. Me and my uncle were discussing it on Saturday and we came to the conclusion that while it is a great imitative and I want it to succeed, it isn't for us. 1) he is nearing 60 and doesn't want to stand for the...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

I miss all this being a fan from afar. Football manager loved Kuhl. Hopefully the youth staff know how to keep them grounded. Out of interest was anyone positive about Rinomhota when he was playing for our academy or is he a welcome surprise? If I recall, much like Novakovich he was 17/18 when we s...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

I still have to watch the second half of the game against Bristol but the feedback on Rinomhota seems really positive. Hopefully he's the real deal and not just another Kuhl or Tshibola. It comes down to attitude at this stage of their careers as they clearly have ability. I liked the look of Kuhl,...

Re: ArsenaLOL

The decision to remove Wenger was a very wise one. Arsenal are on a great run and now are a bit more resiliant under pressure. The Arsenal of old buckle when Leicester take the lead but Emery has changed that. They are a few players away from being genuine contenders, desperately need a world class...
