Re: Weekend Football

What were Forest thinking? £140m transfer spend, half of them not in the team and they leave poor old Steve Cook to handle Harry Kane.

Re: The Non - League thread

Presumably they have the same rule as the EFL where if the most experienced keeper you can call on has fewer than [insert figure] career appearances, you can bring in an emergency loan. Bristol Rovers were promoted on goals scored after putting four past a keeper playing for Rochdale on that basis i...

Re: The Non - League thread

I wonder how secure Parky's tenure is after Wrexham spaffed six-figure transfer fees and still failed. They are shockingly reliant on Ben Tozer's long throws. Both defences were like pub teams.

Re: Ups & Downs 2021/22

Better side overall won, but WTF bother with VAR if it's going to miss two such obvious penalties?

And everyone knows there's no such thing as a Toffolo.

Re: CheLOLsea

I support an L2 club and when we played their under-21s in the EFL Trophy a couple of years ago they had more than 100 professional players, FORTY of whom were out on loan.

It's a football club, Jim, but not as we know it. Feck them. Going bust might be a welcome purgative for some supporters.

Chris Casper. Would have been a brilliant signing if you were allowed 11 outfield players.

Flynn did get as far as two playoff finals both lost 1-0 because of poor refereeing decisions and had unbelievable cup success.

Re: Who realistically replaces Paunovic…?

The ex-Newport manager is Michael Flynn and he did a fantastic job before running out of ideas and walking away but I wonder if he could repeat that anywhere else; he really gets the distinctive local mindset where supporters are ecstatic one week and in despair the next and jump wildly between the ...

Re: Points Deduction Incoming!

So clubs which can best withstand a fine can find some cash down the back of the sofa and keep more points, and those which can't have to run a bigger risk of relegation. Bonkers.

Re: Points Deduction Incoming!

Genuinely baffled by the idea punishments for breaking written rules which clubs have signed up to should be negotiable.

Re: Ups & Downs 2020/21

Newport were the way better team as well. Like the look of Collins on the right....very pacey and can deliver a decent ball. Good old fashioned wide player. Kind of player we need. Collins definitely has something, but he'd need at least a season in the U23s. Can run out of gas and short on physica...

Re: Ups & Downs 2020/21

I'm a Newport ST holder so obviously biased, but if we got promoted thanks to a dive like that - and we do have at least one player who does it - I'd be embarrassed. Their keeper's two--fisted punch on our player was the equivalent of an outfielder launching himself to clear with both feet when the ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Derby County (h) sponsored by a new hope

Only watched on TV, but unless McShane was carrying an injury any striker with even moderate pace will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing him.

Surprised their keeper was allowed to wear a shirt so like the team's, or did it look better if you were actually there?

Re: Building for next season

My home town is Newport and I was matey with Tim Harris their manager for many years. Can't remember the guy's name now but we signed a tall, languid, elegant Beckenbauer-style centre-back who, when doing it right look half a dozen leagues higher than us. But he would drop huge clangers. Craig Lima...

Re: BFTT Cardiff

Watched on TV only, but truly dreadful game. Cardiff must be the least well-equipped to stay up of any team promoted in a very long time. They need a whole new squad, unless Vincent Tan's plan is to trouser one season's TV money plus two lots of parachute payments and clear off.
