Re: Gomes after 10 League Games

I wasn't in favour of Clement's sacking and whether he could have improved results is all Ifs, Buts and Maybes but Gomes has completely revitalised the vibe around the club from day 1. I do think his appointment is just one thing in a chain of events starting with Gourlay's exit that has seen the cl...

Re: Swift to Leeds

Don't think Kitson was a punt. He'd been impressing at Cambridge for 3 seasons and had a burgeoning reputation as someone playing well below his true level. IIRC, we also took advantage of Cambridge needing money quick to get him on the cheap.

Re: Gomes after 10 League Games

You want evidence? Well, I'd certainly give some weight to what Liam Moore has to say on the issue: Clement struggling to get his ideas across, Gomes being clearer in his instructions and his ability to ship out the negative influences. Also, Gomes just seems a more positive personality, a much bett...

Re: Ups & Downs 2018/19

Bradford have been an utter shambles since the current owner bought the club.

Then again, when they got to the League Cup final, they paid the previous owner back the money he had loaned the club and as a result, were unable to pay the players.

Re: Rival Watch

Swansea were hanging on for dear life at the end. Whatever happened to games finishing at 4:40pm? Those days are long gone We definitely need something on Monday as Rotherham have Birmingham at home. Not that worried, Swansea was their "easy" fixture. They have the same opponents as us in...

You've got to say hats off to Wigan. 4pts in a week against the top 2 and Rotherham's defeat makes the Leeds result all the sweetet

Re: Which of the loanees would you prioritise?

I'd be delghted if any of them returned but I'd have to order them thus: Miazga - seems to be forming a good partnership with Moore and adds a bit of steel and grit to the team Baker - Quietly becoming an indespensable part of our midfield. Martinez - Would love to see him back but I don't see it ha...

Re: That Robin Friday goal, now visible on video (sort of)

I wasn't there (I was 4 at the time) but what people who were there have told me is that Friday hit his more on the turn, almost over his shoulder.

I remember Dean Horrix scoring one against Gillingham in 1986 which I always imagined was similar in that he hit it shoulder high on the turn.

Re: CONFIRMED - Yakou Meite

I like his attitude and his spirit and he seems to have calmed down from his first season here. A season at Sochaux clearly helped him grow up. Also like his comment that despite wanting to play in the French top flight, he realises that staying at Reading is as good, if not better than anything tha...

I'm only looking at Rotherham as they are currently in the worst position relative to us.

Re: Run Ins - Relative Strengths

Looking at ours and Rotherham's last 3 games, both have 2 at home, 1 away. We've both got Birmingham at home but I'd rather have Middlesbrough away than West Brom.

Evidently all the Question Time appearances and faux intellectual posturing in the world can't stop Barton from being a thuggish little prick.

Re: Gomes after 10 League Games

Just goes to show a look at his Wikipedia page does not tell the whole story. Gomes started out as a fitness coach and worked at some successful clubs. Fitness was a big issue for us. By all accounts he had a strong reputation in Portugal as a good man manager, again something we desparately needed....

Re: BFTG - Brentford

Not sure why it hasn’t worked for him elsewhere Simple really. He obviously takes time to adjust, hence the poor performances in the first month. Managers are now often given such a short length of time to perform that they don't have the time to wait for players to adjust. Gomes did. Now the rewar...

That will do. Only team in the bottom 6 to win with Wigan still to play Norwich.
