Re: Record Watch 2017/18

Wigan can still get 111 but their next 4 games are Bristol Rovers (5th in the form table) away, Blackburn (1st) away, Scunthorpe (5th) at home and Bradford (7th) away.

Re: Record Watch 2017/18

7 points dropped in 3 games and with us at home and then Leeds and Villa away, this will been done and dusted for the season with 9 games to go.

Re: Record Watch 2017/18

No one's got that close.

Bolton (100 goals and 98 points in 1997) and York (101 points and 96 goals in 1984) are the only 2 who have got within shouting distance.

Re: Record Watch 2017/18

This a million times, we got 106 despite taking our foot off the gas near the end of the season, that's how bloody impressive it was. I think to be fair to the "106 team", they finished with a run of 4 wins and 2 draws in the last 6 games...so not really taking their foot of the gas in my...

I remember us having a long goalless run at home in 87/88.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

What gets me is that the FA Youth Cup is the only competition with a lower age limit. Any other competion and he would have been OK to play.

I accept it's a clear breach of the rules but there is a clear precedent with Southend and the club have been completely transparent.

My mate's formed a mariachi band and I suggested it to him. Unfortunately, at the moment they only know Depeche Mode's Enjoy The Silence but apparently they're working on a Simon & Garfunkel number.

Agreed, it's hardly crime of the century but you'd like to think he's been at United long enough to understand the significance of Munich to keep off social media for an hour, or tell his media team to STFU til 4pm. Can't believe he needs a "team" to compose a semi literate tweet.

Don't forget, I did live in God's Own Khazi for 11 years, I'd gladly pay for a taxi to get you out before the bombers take off

I don't think FIFA 18 was the smartest thing to be tweeting about either, given the occasion and the timing, media team or not.

I'd gladly give Yorkshire independence if it meant it was set adrift from mainland Britain and used by Bomber Command for target practice.

Ironic then that 2 of their 5 defeats this season have been against 2 of the promoted teams.

Re: The Relegation Years

In 88 and 98, the squads were shit. In 2008, we didn't strengthen in January. Bit early to suggest a continuation of the the pattern. Is it still too early? Yes, but the system isn't working, the players can't do it consistently, and something needs to change, be that tactically or personel wise. I...

Lallana joined Southampton when he was 12. He did have a loan spell at Bournemouth in 2007 though.

Can't believe he's got 33 England caps. Shows how little attention I give to the England team.

Re: Club announces new manager!

Talking of Southampton, didn't Walcott, Bale, Oxlaide-Chamberlain, Ward-Prowse, Lallana and Shaw all break into the first team outside the Premiership?

Southampton's recruitment policy in the last few years seems to have been "buy Celtic's best player"
