Re: Rumour - Danny Loader

Every player has their price. If we were top of the table with a decent squad and cash rich then that selling price would be higher than where we find ourselves now desperate for cash to strengthen the squad and avoid relegation next season. There is no point keeping Loader as one for the future if ...

Re: STs for season 2019/2020

I'm going to renew my seat, but not yet - no point paying up sooner than I need to. Maybe the club could be a bit more like Amazon, Take orders now and take the money when they actually ship the goods. This will give them an early indication of the income they can expect rather than having to wait u...

Re: Promotion team 'must haves'

What about Promotion team "must not haves" Troublemakers - That bad apple who is bitter at not being picked & starts to infect other players or refuses to get on the team coach. Think Danny Guthrie Off the field issues - They affect the players, especially of they don't get paid. Stabi...

Re: STs for season 2019/2020

+1. You’re exactly the type of fan which is WHY Club 1871 is so important. And also since inception I’ve noticed far less chants at the away end/antagonising etc then there were in y26. I cheer goals, I join in with clapping/cheering but my main focus is on watching the game and despite sitting thr...

Re: STs for season 2019/2020

If I do switch, my main focus will be on watching the game not having a singing contest with the away fans. I'll probably stay where I am. Here’s hoping you do then! +1. Re: STs for season 2019/2020

Hmm, do I pay £375 to renew in the Lower West of save £76 and join club 1871 for £299? Not sure the family/Eamon Dolan stand should be more than the Club 1871 area, Isn't the view is about the same but the opposite end? If you do switch, I hope you’re going to contribute to the noise and not just s...

Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

As a Dolan ender, the change has been marked. Never used to hear a peep out of the East Stand (probs acoustics), but now there is some decent atmosphere being gener8d in the South it's even encouraging noise at the other end. I think part of that is acoustics, I sit in the Lower West near the away ...

RIP

I'm sure I spotted him on the Lower West concourse at one of the last two home games (probably the West Brom game).

I just read the Joey interview https://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/foot ... s-16245811 In summary, for anyone who can't be bothered to read it but can strangely be bothered to read my post instead. After 1 month break Clement and Tevreden wait until the first day back to call Joey in and tell him he'...

Nick Blackman's out of contract - 23 appearances, 1 goal for Derby 2016-19, or something like that. God bless Nicky Hammond, he did good there.

Re: RFC to become the 4th...

Is “The league” still a thing in this context, why such a cutoff between division 4 and the conference? Presumably used to be an amateur/professional thing but those lines are blurred now, as are associations running the things following the formation of the premier league. Maybe it's a branding th...

2 world wars, 1 world cup The relegation scare has distracted us from asking a serious question:

Why do we not have any vegetable + orgasm related chants?
There's a celery cap in place.

Re: Next Season's Squad.

My views - Everyone out of contract can go. I'd rate Jaakkola as our best goalkeeper, However we need to sign someone better and who we keep as no 2 probably depends on who we can't shift. Right Backs - We don't need 3, Both Yiadom and Gunter are good players at this level. I think we'd probably get...

STAR Liaison We already hold the record for most unsuccessful attempts at the FA Cup by a now League club. We first entered the same year as Notts but they won it once.
Bet they were gutted to lose out on that honour.

I wonder if we will use a "historical kit" as a number of other clubs have done when reaching milestones? We have a new kit every season, so might as well. I guess it will be the first one, but with a Carabao log on the front http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Reading/Reading.htm Alternative...

Re: Twenty’s Plenty

The club should at least discuss this with the FA, If we are undercharging for tickets because we feel it is the right thing to do then they should at least give us some extra leaway with Financial Fair Play to cover the loss of revenue/profit from taking this stand.
