Re: Rival Watch

Which one? Mariappa only left because we got relegated, I am sure he would've gone on to have a good career with us if we had stayed up, backed up by the fact he has played consistent Premier League football since leaving us. I thought Mariappa was sold because he wasn't a right fit for the manager...

Re: Clement's week on a beach in Dubai last week

Every true RFC fan should be hugely grateful to Strap for his meticulous detail to the.... errrr, details regarding RFC. On another note, I live 3,500 miles away from the 'Ding and have been to nine matches so far this season including aways at Villa, 'Wall, QPR and Ipswich. Does that make me a sup...

Re: Financial Fair Play

So how do we go about getting the club fan owned and moving this ship back to Elm Park? 1. Get some money together 2. Make the current owners an offer too good to turn down That's the easy part, the more difficult part is actually running the club. The fans would be better off starting their own cl...

Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

^this. It is a drop in the ocean in the grand scheme of things. An extra £250k in the transfer kitty every season would certainly help, likewise having an extra £250k available for player wages might allow us to sigh better players. If we're at capacity, by all means sell more home seats in the Sou...

Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

Yes but it hasn't done that. The figures don't lie. Takes time for these things to build. If we weren't so inept behind the scenes during the summer/beginning of the season then it would probably be more popular. I'm not sure why any fan would want an increased number of away supporters visiting, d...

Re: Nine Very Difficult Games - Predictions?

A caller to BBC Berks on Saturday made the (perhaps obvious) point. It's now an 8 game season and we have to outscore Rotherham to stay up. Looking at the league table, that sounds about right. Ipswich are as good as down, Bolton are in trouble but it's Rotherham who look like the biggest threat to ...

Re: 51 Academy players

Your criticism of Loader is pathetic as well, yes he's painfully out of his depth at the moment but you're writing him off already. How about you see how long it took for Maupay (the example you quoted) to develop (and that's at four years older) Add to that Shane Long, who took a few years to deve...

BBC.co.uk Leeds United are so salty on Twitter this season
As Reading have discovered, if you take a shot at Leeds United's Twitter admins, you'd best not miss

It's good to see humour on both sides.

I don't suppose there's any chance of us signing Mark McKeever on a temporary basis for this one?

Re: £5 Comic Relief Red Reading Footy shirt

General gripe because it doesn't just apply to sportswear, but t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and the like are almost always better quality for the menswear. Women's stuff is generally flimsy and light. Replica shirts are about the only thing that is actually comparable. So I wouldn't get anything ...

Re: Economics

Release two or three of the higher earners. These players may have a clause whereby they don’t drop wages if we go down or can go for a reduced fee. Bring in a number of loan signings which may keep us up but either way, these players return to their clubs in the summer and the club aren’t burdened...

Re: More rule fiddling

If they want to speed up substitutions, The ref could blow the whistle after 10 seconds and let play continue. The player being subbed is not allowed to touch the ball and the new player can't come on until the player being subbed walks off the pitch at the dugout area... that'll see an end to slow ...

Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

I was sceptical at first but I think they've been brilliant, especially the last few games. While Y25/26 has been silent for the majority of most games the 1871 lot have continuously sang throughout and considering how few of them there are just think how much louder it will be if more start to joi...

We've had loads of these surveys on here in the past, However it has been over 20 years since we moved from Elm Park to the Madejski Stadium which means a number of our fans will not have any experience of having moved ground.

Re: £5 Comic Relief Red Reading Footy shirt

Following the success of this, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Reading football shirts in a variety of new colors, now that this proves a link between the replica kit and the kit the players actually wear isn't really the thing that sells them. I imagine a pink shirt would sell well. The lower pri...

Duffy
Silver Fox
windermereROYAL I heard people were buying them in baulk.

That explains the cue

LOL. It's queue.

and it's bulk, not baulk (an area of a billiards table, hence the billiards puns)

£5 Comic Relief Red Reading Footy shirt

As it's only £5, I'm tempted....but, what's the real story here? The shirt doesn't mention comic relief at all so I'm thinking someone (possibly a Swindon fan) ordered a job lot of shirts in the wrong colour and some genius thought red shirts = comic relief?

20 Years since the Premier Leagues last English XI

Good article, It's 20 years since the last English XI and it was only the 55th time this had occurred (obviously football never existed before the Premiership) There as never been a Premier League game with 22 English starters. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/premier-league/aston-villa-v-coventry-ci...

one when the famous five had been signed by Burns wasn't it the magnificent seven rather than the famous five? https://www.getreading.co.uk/lifestyle/nostalgia/royals-signed-seven-players-transfer-7700922 https://i2-prod.getreading.co.uk/incoming/article7700877.ece/ALTERNATES/s1227b/photoJPG.jpg

Halftime entertainment

Having just watched this halftime show which involved a dog catching a frisby (it's slightly better than it sounds) https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/american-football/47359232 I was wondering what's happened to Mr Woof aka Jake the Dog, Mr Woo and the Helicopters? Anyone got any suggestions for half t...
