Re: MATCHWATCH : Hull City (a) sponsored by Mr William Whitehurst

Sounded like a poor game played out by two poor teams. Correct decision to disallow their "goal ". In fact when kicking the ball out of his hands the keeper is still deemed to have it under his control (think George Best and Gordon Banks).

If you were the owners would you trust Stam with a single shiny penny of your own money?

Re: James Wilson

Presuming no other striker activity was forthcoming (and let's be honest that appears to be the general expectation at Reading these days) then next season Reading would have just one relatively experienced striker (Bod) at the club even if Wilson was signed and Novakovich remains. Whether that wou...

Re: Gourlay out.

I suspect that if we are getting close to FFP then it's a toss up between getting rid of Stam and risk that getting a new manager in would improve things or backing him with (some) money in the transfer window and risk that he's able to make any signings make a material difference. Looks to me that...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stevenage (a) sponsored by an FA Cup run needed to save the season

According to the Chronicle : READING FC boss Jaap Stam is set to ring the changes for tomorrow’s FA Cup third-round clash at Stevenage (3pm ko). Stam confirmed he plans to rest a number of his first-team players in the aftermath of Tuesday’s home defeat to Championship strugglers Birmingham City. T...

Re: BTFS - QPR

tbf Muskrat, I think all of us were fearful right up until we made it to the play offs that the team could easily stumble upon a run like they are in now. I think the main thing is QPR was one of only a couple of games when we actually did fall behind at home last year, and we saw how that turned o...

Re: BTFS - QPR

You're having a go at Ian for nit-picking when you bumped a year-old match thread in a season where we finished 3rd. Where's my irony meter... I think you need to check the meaning of irony. There's absolutely nothing ironic about reminding people that a lot of the football that we played last year...

Re: BTFS - QPR

You didn't say playing shit football, you said shit performances and shit. Being shit, and many shit performances are mutually exclusive with finishing 3rd. That must rate as the most LOLame straw clutching nit-picking ever in the history of HNA? and that really is saying something :D You're having...

Ugh? You've lost me there I'm afraid. You appear to imply that playing shit football finishing third in a league table are mutually exclusive, which clearly they're not. No, there were loads of sh1t performances that I could have chosen from, from the first game at home to PNE, up to and including the play-off final. The fact is I saw what others chose not to, that we have been shit for at least a year now.

Re: BTFS - QPR

In a word - abject. No creativity, no discernible shape, no pattern to our play. Same old story, 72% possession and 1 shot on target. People on here banging on about there being no plan B, how about getting plan A sorted out first eh? You know, the most frustrating thing is that the team last night...

Re: BFT £&*@!! - Burton

Abject. Utterly utterly abject. I'm sorry but after that and unless we can pull off a stunning victory at Brizzle on Boxing day, Stam should go of his own volition. Not that he will. Nor will he be sacked, because I don't believe our new Chinese owners have any real interest in the club. I think it'...

Might still be some teams keen on him and he’s got just over a year left on his deal, seems disinterested. Time to cash in on him? Think we could find a better player for the price we could get for him tbh, thinking about the long term, Swift is the same age and is undoubtedly a level above, Stam s...

Re: BFTG - Nottingham Forest

Football is funny isn't it. We were in terrible form going into yesterday's game, now we've got 2 wins in 4. It's kind of annoying we've found ourselves away from home next against one of the form sides in the league - could've done with another home game to back this result up. Indeed. Derby prett...

Re: In or Out?

Seems as if we are back in the Brendan Rodgers era. Where he religiously stuck to his belief in playing a diamond formation in midfield. Good players made to look totally inadequate. Well indeed. A new poll required. As is often the case Leon, you are on the money. New poll required because there h...
