Re: BFTG - Middlesbrough

Having looked at the penalty on the highlights. Really? JVDB barely touched him and he flung himself to the floor. I've seen players booked for simulation on that sort of thing.

Re: Worst ever Reading Player

Those who cite Ollie Kearns in this list clearly never really saw him. His RFC record was pretty good even though he didn't look like a footballer. He was one of those players who could have scored a hat trick per game and the boo boys would still have knocked him. Matt Robinson is also misplaced h...

Re: Worst ever Reading Player

Home attendances from 1971/2 are interesting (well nearly) and the fluctuation which characterises our traditionally fickle support. Look at the crowd against Barrow at home, although I suspect there was some sort of deal for Arsenal tickets attached to it. The Barrow players must have got stage fri...

I thought Richards did quite well when he came on against Norwich. Put in one humdinger of a tackle.

Re:

Norfolk, got to agree with you, Ollie Kearns, however I dont think it all unfair to call him "the worst". Can you remember when we were attacking the town end, he tried to play a ball round a defender, over hit it, lost control, then made out he had made a brilliant pass, because by coinc...

Beerens 7. Behave, he had a shocker as did everyone with the exception of Moore, Aluko in the first half, and possibly McShane.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Norwich City (h) sponsored by going for the "lack of 1st half goals" record

Oliveira is a doubt for this one btw having missed the last game through injury. Probably be on bench though as local paper here saying he is on the verge of being match fit. He actually had a shocker in his last game. Norwich are currently playing like we did in the early part of last season, their...

Re: Shocking and disgusting behaviour

On your point number 3 my response was in response to you saying that letting it off in a football ground was viewed as more serious and could attract a jail term. If the person said they were not going to a football ground and it couldn't be proved otherwise, then clearly it is a good defence.

Re: Shocking and disgusting behaviour

Perhaps you could explain what charges would result in my scenario from the accidental discharge of a smoke bomb. That would be a bit more accurate than your ludicrous conflation. Neither did I say that no charges would result, merely that a deliberate act would be difficult to prove were the suspe...

Re: Shocking and disgusting behaviour

Said by a person who knows about, and understands football and football fans. For those who aren't embedded in the culture, just fans shouting on a train can be intimidating and scary, let alone letting off smoke bombs. Quite simply, it is incredibly inconsiderate. Regardless of any safety or healt...

Re: Shocking and disgusting behaviour

Even if they find the person responsible for discharging the smoke bomb all he/she has to say is that it went off by mistake. Little tip there. Are accidents no longer punishable by law? Might as well just get rid of vehicular manslaughter or death by dangerous driving... clearly if you didn't mean...

Re: Oxford - Reading

Remember those games. Just out of interest as I don't recall any such event, but did Reading actually ever 'take' an end/side? Not to my knowledge. Actually I can! 11 December 1976. FAC2. Wycombe 1 Reading 2 (Robin Friday both of them). Bitterly cold and snowy. At Loakes Park. "We" 'occup...

Re: Oxford - Reading

I don't remember Oxford taking the Southbank? April 1977. Carnage as they left towards the end and attacked the home fans leaving the Town end. To be complete Northampton and Sheff Wed ( on a week night) did too. Pompey worse Elm Park trouble by a mile.[/quote I didn't start going to 78 I remember ...

Yes, they've agreed to stock a few cans of Carabao in the drinks dispensing machine at their training ground.
