Re: England - the future....

I would agree that we played alright on Friday and should probably have walked away with a win. Most of the post-match stuff I read at the weekend was about the circumstances of the game and Sancho making his debut off the bench. I saw little actual reporting or opinion on the game tbh so I’m not su...

Re: England - the future....

So the probably team has become the actual team.

Interesting to see the shape that 11 set up in. Could just as easily be 4-2-3-1 as 4-3-3 and has a bit of flexibility to switch around during the game, something they were criticised about a bit during the summer.

Re: Nations League & Friendlies

Snodgrass...Probably the best Scottish player... Really? Ye. That's how dross they are. Who'd be your pick? Clearly the one who played a significant part in his side getting the Champions League final and being one of the best sides to watch in the country (if not Europe). I don't think the...

Re: England - the future....

Meanwhile, back on the topic of the thread... There's some suggestion that Southgate may try a different formation this evening. The implication being that it'll be a flat back 4 with 3 upfront (Rashford, Kane and Sterling). I've seen a few suggestions that that will also mean a midfield 3 of Dier, ...

Re: Nations League & Friendlies

Robertson does a very good job for Liverpool offensively. Im sure he could easily play wide midfield for Scotland and give them options going forward. Agreed, that would possibly be the obvious way or doing things. Robertson's crossing is excellent, but I guess the worry would be that he is so effe...

Re: England - the future....

I have seen Sessagnon a lot too, enough to base an opinion on him. Fantastic at Championship level but Premier League has come way too quickly for him, mainly physically. He needs to get a bit more built in his upper body, not sure if he is already doing that or not but its vital to his development...

Re: Nations League & Friendlies

Scotland were utterly hopeless. How has James Forrest not started? Why is Kieran Tierney a centre back all of a sudden? I predict Mcleish will go down as one of the worst managerial appointments in their history. Clueless old dinosaur. Two of their best players are left backs, and I think Tierney h...

Re: Nations League & Friendlies

Lots of interesting results that England fans probably won't take any notice of and only berate our own side for any failings and overlook the fact other sides struggle at times too (ok, we might make a more consistent job of those struggles!). Portugal just hung on against Poland. France needed a l...

Re: England - the future....

Gareth Bale got slaughter for not being able to make the step up for a couple of seasons after joining Spurs from Southampton, then of the Championship. It's a big jump up, and he's a very young kid, with just 1 and a half seasons of football under his belt (and that's tantamount to his talent that ...

Re: England - the future....

There was a game in the early stages of the Europa league that had an attendance of about 3. Even with 'behind closed doors', you'll have ca. 100 people in the stadium. I imagine it'll be more like 500 with all the staff, officials and hangers on, but yeah it'll certainly be pretty odd to watch on ...

Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

Lee Sharpe is 47. Fcuking hell. my previous company paid for him to do a guest appearance at a customer event about 5 years ago where he would sit on stage and ask questions. They paid him about £3000 I believe. he was moody, made it look like the whole thing inconvenienced him and was sh*t. Not su...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

When is Mark Hughes getting sacked? Great player, terrible manager! He's got worse, but that might be a product of the teams he's having to manage, but he wasn't always a poor manager. He did well for Wales, Blackburn and, to an extent, City before things have certainly gone downhill. I think he di...

Re: England - the future....

I’d totally overlooked the fact that Chalabah also made the squad last week. I’m not sure why it is, but Southgate has a massive hard-on for him, and always has.

I just don’t get it.

Also, Dunk has now been called up to replace Tarkowski.

Not been able to watch this one, but has Bailey been hooked off after 20 minutes and replaced at centre back by a 21 year old central midfielder?

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

...There are 2 reasons for the academy, first to bring players through to the first team and second to generate funds for the club. If players aren't good enough for the first team then they are (hopefully) sold to generate funds. Recently there has been a lack of the first, I am not sure on the se...

Re: England - the future....

I can count his lack of big match experience though. Maybe you are spot on and he does all of the things you say but it is far, far too early for a call up after 5 Premier League games. The third goalkeeper should have been Joe Hart who has really come back well from a poor season in 2017/18. That ...

Re: England - the future....

Apparently Gareth Southgate was at the Derby v Blackburn game last night. Wonder if there might be a surprise in the next England squad - Mason Mount perhaps? I doubt it, it's still a bit early for that. I'm sure Southgate is keeping tabs on a lot of the younger players coming through. Well, Mason ...

Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

If his United tenure ends sooner rather than later, and under the existing cloud, then it would be a brave big club to take him on.
