Re: Players you'd like us to sign thread

I'd still be happy to see Matthew Connolly come in as a decent addition at centre half, IF he's still fit and up for it as he's not played for quite a while at Cardiff. Think hes gone to Hull...and back on the subject Nelson Oliveira is still kicking his heels at Norwich...one thing is for sure..he...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Once you've got thoughts like that in your head I do think it's best to make it a clean break or things just go from bad to worse (see Fergie's planned retirement season and of course Coppell post-car park season). Isn't that the season we took our chances of automatic promotion down to the very la...

Re: Man CitHEHEHE

I'm just trying to look at comparative spending and generally up to 1987, Liverpool spent less and bought better than their rivals and really any dominant team since. Liverpool always seemed to buy well, but I guess that's a lot down to buying from a position of strength and integrating players int...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Fergie's planned retirement season when they won the league? Would say that was quite successful, myself. Fergie didn't announce his retirement until after they won the league in 2013. The year he announced his retirement the first time around they were something like 6th or 7th before he changed h...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Slightly odd that It would appear both Karanka and WAgner instigated their own departures, although for quitedifferent reasons. Neither appear to have other jobs lined up, not often a manager just quits like that. It's just for face-saving purposes. They are paid off handsomely to make it look like...

Re: Man CitHEHEHE

Liverpool did it in the 70's & 80's, buying up everyone else's best players each year. That's not how I remember it. Who in that time did they buy who would've been everyone else's best players each ? The way I remember it they brought a lot of players through and then supplemented it with buyi...

Maybe. You'd have needed a few time machines though. At the time of the game, it was a very shoddy lineup.

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Yeah I do think Wagner seems to have something about him. Some managers benefit from big spending or just being at a club at the rigt time, I don't think you can say that about him and he took a small time club up to the PL against all odds. Can't really be a fluke imo As you say, sometimes the sta...

Re: RUMOUR - Lewis baker

last good loan? probably Steve Blatherwick 2 best loan signings were: Matthew Upson Glen Little David Lee. Baker was, and I'd guess still is, a player with a lot of potential. I'm not entirely sure where he'd fit in in our side, but he can add some extra quality to replace some of the injured and l...

The technical type that possession football requires, decent end product. At the time of my comment, he is much better suited than dinosaur football Rowett got his stoke side playing(I am aware he has since been sacked and we’ll have to see if stoke continue with their trend of experienced British ...

]I think it would be fairly obvious if someone was trying to gain an advantage/interfering with play, certainly more obvious than penalty/simulation decisions. With the camera angles, I didn't see that until this morning, was quite interesting. A simple way around that is that all parties agree on ...

Re: Weekend Football

Which is why goalline technology is great and VAR is flawed Happy for VAR to be used for offside decisions as well, as they are 99% of the time, on or off. Apart from whether they're interfering with play or making a attempt to gain an advantage from being in an offside position. As last nights VAR...

Re: Weekend Football

That's the nuance I was trying to pull out. In cricket, the umpire gives his opinion, and if technology says it's a close call, it stays with his on-field decision. That's the bit that football fans can't get their heads around - VAR isn't and wasn't ever designed to be used to adjudge the minutest...
