Re: Ingerlund Vs Tunisia

The weekends games should have served as a good warning to both players and fans as to what to expect. Apart from the dangers of over-confidence, which this well prepared England side appear to have covered, that's nonsense really. The only thing I'd glean from the games so far that applies to this...

Re: The Non - League thread

I don’t understand. My only point is that it’s a shit hole. Not been for years, what's wrong with it :?: It's in need of a lot of TLC, and has always been a bit industrial with a distinctly average pitch. The bar/clubhouse (if you could call it that) has been a terrapin building since the old bar b...

Re: Ingerlund Vs Tunisia

After all the drama of the past few days, and the apparent difficulty that the 'big' teams are having at putting away the minnows, I think you'd have to be delighted to come away from this evening with an underwhelming 1-0 win. Agreed. Even before the last few results we needed to be realistic abou...

Re: Ingerlund Vs Tunisia

What happened to Dier? Nothing, he’s just not needed alongside Henderson in Southgates preferred formation (I see it as 3-1-4-2, but I’ve seen a lot of reference to it being 3,3,2,2). Interestingly* Dier and Henderson haven’t played together for England since we qualified and Southgate made the swi...

Re: Spain Vs Portugal

If that`s the standard off the top teams England have every chance. Ronaldo has now scored more hat tricks on his own (51) than the sum total in world cup history (50). Didn’t they bang on about it being the same number for both? So he scored his 51st hatrick and the World Cup’s 51st hatric...

Re: Spain Vs Portugal

Games like this really make a World Cup!

Cracker of a third for Spain, but some quality on show throughout.

Re: Ingerlund Vs Tunisia

That’s just the line up they went with in a training session, which it appear a fair few of the media we’re at or heard about (and so Tunisia’s too perhaps?).

Sounds like it’s the probable starting line up though. I’d go with Rose and Loftus-Cheek ahead of Young and Lingard though.

Re: England’s World Cup Finals 2018

But still, absolutely no reason a player shouldn't be able to stick 9/10 efforts into an unsaveable window a foot or so across near the top corner, with enough effort in practice. Any half decent player should be able to hit a specific part of the goal from 13 yards 95 time in a hundred regardless ...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

I’ve not seen a hell of a lot of Pope, mainly because he’s only really played the one season, but it would surely be a risk for Liverpool to think he was the answer as he’s unproven really.

I’d still favour Butland myself, but it doesn’t seem like Klopp is interested in him.

Re: England’s World Cup Finals 2018

I can’t find a couple of articles I’d read on penalties, techniques and practising them, but this one on the BBC gives a bit of an overview of the work Southgate and The FA have been doing. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44039951 This image does show how the ones we’ve had saved have been prett...

Re: CONFIMRED - John O’shea signs for Reading

As others have said, there was lots of praise for the impact of Keown and Ferdinand long after they’d left and the part that played in our subsequent success. Whether that was just false platitudes we won’t ever really know. If its a toss up between bringing in an experienced pro who can help create...

Re: CONFIMRED - John O’shea signs for Reading

It seems pretty obvious to me, having watched far too many transfer windows, that the players we bring in will be a mix of players to strengthen the first XI, gambles for the future and squad players to add depth and competition to the squad. You seem to be implying that we can only sign the first c...

Re: CONFIMRED - John O’shea signs for Reading

Lots of ifs, buts, maybes and assumptions there though. The point being that until the whole policy pans out we won’t really be able to have any informed opinion on it. It’s just too early. Arguably, even when all the business is done we might not fully understand the thinking because we won’t know ...

Re: CONFIMRED - John O’shea signs for Reading

It's premature to judge our transfer policy has changed to something more successful and posituve after just three free signings in May / June. One third of which is thoroughly underwhelming and a continuation of poor value for money, and failure to address first XI and squad bloat issues. You shou...

Re: The Non - League thread

Highmoor IBIS have changed their name to Reading City FC. (Is somebody going to tell them?) How bizarre!! I can’t quite think of the words to describe it. Cheesy? Naff? Delusional? Guildford is another team called City who aren’t actually in a city, but it doesn’t make it less cringeworthy, I...

Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

I'm delighted one of his Hollywood attempts has finally come off  It's worked for Ronaldo for years! Rashford looked a real threat last night though. As much as it was a friendly, against a pretty average side, United fans must surely look at that kind of display and wish they had a manager t...

Re: England’s World Cup Finals 2018

Decent performance from England last night, especially considering it wasn't the full strength side. I'm predicting that, injuries aside, Southgate will start the Tunisia game with: .......................Pickford ..........Walker, Stones, Maguire Trippier........Henderson.........Rose ........Loftu...

Re: England’s World Cup Finals 2018

Played 7 penalty shoot outs in finals and lost 6 of them. Has to be the worst record of those teams that have benn in them from 1990 onwards. They're a lottery so one day, surely, our luck will change . Endless  and :| at PFM ensue. Thankfully the FA and Southgate aren't the ones repeating th...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

News coming out overnight suggests that Karius sustained a concussion in the collision with Ramos in the CL Final and this could have impaired his performance in the 2nd half. Certainly adds up but a big part of me is very cynical about it. Could just be a smokescreen to get Karius a bit of sympath...
