Re: The generic transfer thread

I've just read this... The Telegraph revealed this week that United’s move for Sanchez will be worth up to £180 million, which includes a signing-on bonus of £20m to the Chilean as well as wages of around £510,000 a week before tax and a payment of at least £10m to the player’s agent, Fernando Felic...

Re: The Non - League thread

I enquired about the installation of a 3G for the youth club I run. Just for a kids 9 v 9 it was over £100,000. Bracknell you'd be looking at well over 200k. Having Googled it the reported refurb at Bracknell was anything between £500k-£1m with one article on GetReading suggesting they were spendin...

Re: The Non - League thread

Ah right. I was more than half cut when being informed last night  As for 3g Windsor don't have it and have a great pitch. 3g has a shelf life doesn't it? Doesn't make economic sense. Windsor used the Slough money it didn't spunk on old Wycombe players on drainage. I seem to remember Bracknell...

Re: The Non - League thread

3G is the future, the FA need to grasp this, and promote it especially for places that suffer from poor drainage like Biggleswade, St Ives etc. What do you want or expect from the FA? I expect the authorities to see the benefits of football clubs having decent all-weather pitches that can be used f...

Re: The Non - League thread

Highworth Town looking like they've got the Hellenic Premier more or less sewn up already. Certainly looks like it's going to be a case of theirs to lose. People had been saying the same about Bracknell not too long ago. The games between Highworth, Thatcham and Bracknell are all yet to come and th...

Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

JM: Rashford has about 90 appearances Martial has made about 75 Those stats don't really tell the story though do they? The point is more about how Mourinho is using, or not using, the likes of Rashford and failing to really develop them. Take Rashford as the example here, as it was RR's original p...

Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

There's an argument that the likes of Pep, Klopp and Pochettino are all giving young players the opportunities and reaping the benefits of doing so. average age of United starting line up today is 27 average age of Liverpool starting line up is about 26 Young is in for Shaw today (32 v 23) or they'...

Agreed on the players agenda, although conversely they may be all for it to stop them being cheated out of a match or tournament too.

Re: VAR

I read a lot about 'it will disrupt the flow of the game', but is there any evidence in its use so far that it 'disrupts the flow of the game', any more so that the time is has taken to correct a wrong decision, or ensure a decision is correct? It took 67 seconds from Ineacho's shot hitting the net...

It would also have to make a subjective decision on whether the player was interfering with play if you want to automate the whole decision.

Re: VAR

I'd have introduced it gradually with a bit of framework i.e. we're used to goalline tech let's use VAR for the next step Check for offsides after a 'goal' has been scored...it's binary and will sort marginal decisions out effectively It is being introduced gradually though isn't it? Limited to 2 c...

Re: VAR

As I suggested yesterday, and contrary to some calls for teams to have a number of 'challenges' per game, I'd like to see VAR used like the TMO in rugby. I know that the captains might have the odd word in the referees' ear, but essentially TMO is a referees-only system. There is no requesting it, ...

Re: VAR

Tech in cricket can't get 100% of decisions 100% correct, but you don't see people saying it shouldn't be used at all. You mean apart from the biggest test playing nation resisting it as long as they can? Cricket is an interesting example to bring it as it happens. DRS has largely been a success bu...

Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

+1 SFers. I'd expect them to get duffed up for doing stupid handshakes and dances if they were at school, adults doing it is just well a bit pathetic. This is the kind of shit that makes me really dislike Lingard. It's like they've never seen what a dick Sturridge looks like when he does his silly ...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Giggs gets the Wales job. Welsh fans not happy. I caught a phone in on Talksport last week were the presenter (probably the scycophntic Sky luvvie Jim White) was amazed by the sheer volume and passion of the anti-Giggs feeling amongst the Wales fans. I can totally see why after the way Giggs treate...

Re: The Non - League thread

From what I gather (from speaking to the ex juniors Chairman) there was a row after the final game of last season when Bracknell blew their chance to win the league that resulted in the owner and manager no longer being on speaking terms. There was friction throughout the summer over players in or ...

Re: The Non - League thread

I have no proof of this but I think there were team selection issues with Tallentire and a big row after the last game of last season which resulted in the split. Interesting, it certainly seemed to be an odd call at the time seeing that Bracknell had won 9 of their first 10 games of the season bef...

Re: The Non - League thread

No pressure? Not sure about that. I know a guy who knows the manager and he has said that he’s enjoying it there but is fully aware what will happen if he doesn’t get the results demanded. Bracknell are clearly the best team I’ve seen in the Hellenic this season but promotion (which is rather impor...
