Re: Clement

Clement needs time and a fair crack. Little point in churning managers. A period of stability is what's required. LW, Sean Dyche in the Express today said, among other things, that he won't be managing at 65 (as some currently are), and that "The future of management will change. It's going to...

Re: Rumour - Billy Whitehouse

Personally, I think we should be looking at players like Blair Turgott, who are proven scorers in the national league, not evo stick league Below the National League you can sign someone without there being any transfer window restrictions (I think?), so maybe that’s part of his appeal, i.e we coul...

Re: Bust up between Clement and Barrow

Must have been really serious considering he's confirmed to be back in the squad already. Probably exactly serious enough to be dropped for a few games whilst it was sorted out. It was a comment aimed at the (I assume facetious?) comments that he won't play for us again. I'd love to know what he di...

Re: RUMOUR - Steve Bruce

Victor, good points. I'd be ok with Steve Bruce. If nothing else, it might be a sign the owners are willing to invest more money, because I'm not sure he'd come here otherwise. Not sure it would be a Wolves/Bournemouth-type model, but bigger money, and esp so if we made it in to PL. Yes, Bruce has b...

Park the Bus Time predict 5 at the back HT Reading 1-0 Bristol City FT Reading 1-0 Bristol City Bod half a dozen boring 1-0 wins would be welcome... Stam in at Man Utd?

Daily Mirror reports... Manchester United legend Jaap Stam is eyeing up Jose Mourinho's job. Mourinho has endured a struggling start to the Premier League season with United languishing in eighth place. The Red Devils have suffered defeats to Tottenham , Watford , West Ham in the league and were kno...

Re: RUMOUR - Steve Bruce

Bruce won't play our Academy graduates. Does Clement? About the only grad who starts is Kelly sometimes (and many don't think he should, and say he's not good enough). Hard to beat Bruce with that stick, Shirley? Not the point, tho, we're talking about who's next up for the managerial hotsea...

Re: Worst RFC manager, statistically, after 23 league games.

I think the big question is are we a better team now than when Clements started? After the equivalent of half a season we should be seeing his ideas come to some fruition. For me we have gone backwards. Its a big question, but even if we were better, by how much? We still find ourselves in the bott...

Thanks, always enjoy these. Listen and learn.

In your first paragraph, may I ask what particular segment(s) you were comparing to, and why, and the relevance there of. Thanks.

Re: Worst RFC manager, statistically, after 23 league games.

Were you one of many saying last season that the players are talented but that the problem was elsewhere? Talent has many facets. So errr, you were...or you weren’t? Elaborate on all the facets, too, if you wish. Agree with you the other day when you said this is tough div, gulf between div’s, etc....

Re: Clement

Some good points, as usual. Yes, in that specific comparison, we could say (with a presumed managerial bounce?) that a new manager may (or may not) be doing better as it relates to a specific period in the previous manager's tenure. And that furthermore, we might also say that whether the new manage...

Re: Clement

So the other thread 'Worst RFC manager statistically after 23 league games' doesn't have much relevance for you then? When making comparisons, is an overall record more relevant, or is cherry-picking a segment of a particular season, be it the first 23 games, the last 23 games, or whatever? It depe...

Thought of that, but don't recall this many comparisons to the previous manager when Stam was in his first season? At least, not with the same frequency. But anyway, assuming you are right and comparison's are fine and relevant: Stam: P84 W34 D20 L31 F112 A121 GD -9 Avg pts pg 1.45 Avg goals pg 1.3...

...Every day in here there are comparisons and references to Stam. Not sure it’s relevant. Very low bar. 1st year mgr, short tenure, good first season (which nobody references). Bad partial 2nd season, so let’s key in on that for a metric and try to come up smelling like roses. Unless one is trying...

This side won't finish in the top half of the Championship again without being relegated and promoted. I don't recall anyone predicting that at start of season. As Brian proved there was talent in the squad. Not something you could say now  Were you one of many saying last season that the players are talented but that the problem was elsewhere? McNulty was only ever to be a future punt, given how the rest of the team are doing I'm quite happy to hav...
