Re: Tevreden Out, Nani In

BT must have been on thin ice after Stam's underwhelming second year. Particularly as it must have been his influence that saw McD get sacked. The owners most likely accept that Clement needs time and a fair crack. Little point in churning managers. You say that, but you are fine with ‘churning man...

Re: Clement

Excellent post. Without knowing, I had assumed many clubs were utilizing stats these days, but maybe not? Your example of Brentford (a club without an academy) is telling. Do you know whether we employ similar? (Or was that another of the cuts made by Gourlay with his machete?) At a guess, having be...

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

Lots of people mourning the situation at Reading FC with varying degrees of emotional intensity. A really sad but apt thread; and one that the owners and employees of the club really should be aware of and reading. The common thread (of the thread) for me is emotional connectivity. I miss running b...

Re: Team for Preston (A)

In his time at RFC JVB was a walking red card Joey was good for most of his time here, once he got over that difficult first month he was a real asset until things went downhill midway through last season. Meyler hasn't shown anywhere near the same ability yet (he hasn't even looked as good as Joey...

Re: Team for Preston (A)

It's so evident that there's something going on higher up that Clement is forced to play these players. We're bottom of the league, and yet he's being forced to play players? Doubt this is true. (If it is, he should quit.) But for sake of discussion...Is this a new club directive aimed at this part...

and theres still a 50:50 chance that they will go back down in a few seasons and be in a right mess 1. Do you actually not want us to get promotion? 2. The 'risks' of promotion exist for many teams, and they try to navigate them. We aren't unique in that.    its very easy runni...

Re: Madejski Out

If sir John had just taken the risk and invested in our great 2006 side we could have been a Bournemouth or Brighton, instead he was scared of the huge costs of sustaining PL survival. I still don't believe all that TV money went out on wages, Bournemouth get crowds of 11.000 for Christ sake. it wa...

Re: Clement

It takes a few years to build a good football team and Clement needs the time. Clement would be breaking new ground there. He's never really 'built a good team' anywhere. He's never been anywhere longer than about 6 months? It took Bielsa at Leeds less than a month? (And they haven't even made the ...

Re: BFTG - Weds H

I would say its the wings as the non tracking back ethic they have and outrageous positional play (aluko) stretches out the middle allowing opposition just to waltz through. Once a manager see's that wingers dont track back or consistently out of position, it is extremely easy to set up to play aga...

Re: Madejski Out

I love the idea of encouraging someone else to gamble their money. Yeah, the 'spending other people's money' thing. So as a fan, if we got promoted you wouldn't be hoping the Chinese made further investment in hopes of keeping us there? (Just to be clear, if they weren't able to, I wouldn't blame t...

Re: Clement

He probably has to play Aluko. It's not like someone with the knowledge and experience of Paul Clement is not seeing what we're seeing. There's probably additional politics. You can't exactly leave your record signing to rot in the reserves. I wouldn't see much difficulty in him being on the bench ...

Re: Clement

As for Paul C I think he has had an impossible job and so I am not sure we can blame him too much. He inherited a demotivated squad used to losing. It sounds as though many of our purchases have been made by Gourlay and not by the manager over the last couple of seasons and so it looks like the man...
